Chapter 55 You Can Help Me

At dawn, Brian returned home and found David sitting on the sofa.

“Where have you been?” David looked up from his newspaper.

Brian sat next to David, and poured himself a cup of coffee. “Just for a walk.”

David glanced at Brian’s wrinkled shirt and snorted, “Huh, a quite far walk.”

Brian asked, “Have you finished with the election?”

“Mm,” David nodded with satisfaction. “The results should be out on Friday.”

“Congratulations.” Brian lifted his cup in a toast.

David’s mustache twitched in amusement. “Your engagement with Olivia is approaching too, right? Have you set a date?”

“Not yet, waiting for your arrangements.”

“Then let’s make it on Friday as well. Double happiness.”

Brian smiled faintly. “Alright.”

...

After breakfast, Brian went to his room to take a cold shower, then he had the butler apply medicine for him.

Seeing his battered back, the butler looked distressed. “Mr, where have you been? The wounds were almost healed, but now they’re all torn open again!”

Recalling Ashley’s tight grip on his back, Brian responded a slight “Mm“.

The butler sighed.

He had accompanied Brian and Ashley since they were children.

Both were good kids, but now...

At lunchtime, Daniel arrived with an unexpected guest.

Brian looked at Spencer, who had tears streaming down her face, and frowned. “What’s the matter?”

Spencer paused in wiping her tears, looking down and twisting her handkerchief. “I came to ask for your help.”

Brian turned to Daniel.

Daniel bowed. “Miss Reed’s endorsement contract was canceled by David.”

Brian thought for a while, and then remembered that she did a favor for him last time.

So he casually gave her an endorsement contract.

Brian addressed Spencer. “Alright, I’ll have someone to handle it.”

Spencer looked at him gratefully. “Thank you, Mr. Brian.”

Seeing that she wasn’t leaving, Brian asked, “Is there anything else?”

“Yes… actually, there is,” Spencer bit her lip nervously. “Could I hitch a ride with you?”

Brian frowned. “I’m not planning to go out.”

“I don’t need you to go out, just that I get a ride in your car.”

Spencer looked at Brian with tearful, pleading eyes. “Since the incident at the bar, there have been paparazzi chasing my rumors, claiming that I’m…

“Claiming that I’m a sugar baby. But I’ve always been independent, and many competitors hate me. They look down on me.

“Now, many are waiting to catch me in a scandal, to prove that I’m a sugar baby and lost the endorsement.”

Brian asked, “So you want to use my car to clarify that?”

Brian didn’t like appearing in front of the media, but he was never afraid of their scrutiny.

Every report about him, no matter how trivial, was vetted by Quinn Group.

Nothing was allowed to be published without his approval.

Such move was both a boastful asset and a protective shield for Spencer.

Spencer nervously clenched her fingers and looked at Brian. “Is that alright?”

Brian studied Spencer for the first time. “This is the first time someone frame me so baldy.”

Spencer’s face flushed. “Well, I wouldn’t exactly call it ’frame’. I just need a small favor.”

Brian smiled. “What a ’little favor’.”

Spencer cautiously noticed Brian’s reaction, and seeing he didn’t seem to be disgusted, she sighed in relief.

Daniel looked at Spencer with noticeable surprise.

Miss Reed seemed to be quite something.

After a few seconds of silence, Brian suddenly looked at Daniel. “You can leave.”

Daniel was taken aback. “Sir?”

Brian gave him a look.

Daniel quickly bowed and exited.

Spencer felt a thin layer of sweat on her palms and was a bit flustered by Brian’s sudden order, but she tried to remain calm.

She looked at Brian, kind of flipping for his handsome look.

Spencer felt her heart race uncontrollably, her eyelids feeling heavy. “Does Mr. Quinn have something to say?”

Brian said, “Miss Reed is a smart girl.”

Spencer couldn’t tell if Brian was complimenting or mocking her, so she hesitated to respond.

Brian continued, “Miss Reed, could you do me a favor?”

“What kind of favor?”

“On Friday evening, I’m getting engaged.”

Spencer blinked. “Engaged? To Miss. James?”

“Yes.”

Spencer frowned, hesitated, then said, “But if I may... that day Miss. James seemed to be with someone else...”

Brian smirked.

“That day, Mr. Quinn’s guest was supposed to be in the suite, but Miss. James came out from the adjacent room. It seemed quite… suggestive.”

Spencer paused, then asked, “Is Mr. Quinn suddenly getting engaged because that secret girl is pregnant?”

Brian burst into laughter.

Spencer grew more uncertain.

Had she said too much? Had she made a mistake?

When Brian mentioned “a favor,” Spencer had initially thought it meant helping him deal with Olivia.

With this assumption, her subsequent remarks were based on this idea.

As she spoke, she closely observed Brian’s expression.

When he suddenly laughed, she became nervous, unsure if she was right or wrong.

Brian laughed for a moment, then stopped and looked at her. “Indeed, you can help me.”

Spencer felt relieved. “What should I do?”

Brian took out paper and a pen, wrote an invitation, and handed it to her. “Come at this time on Friday.”

Spencer glanced at the note. “This is…?”

“Someone will do your makeup and outfit. You just need to come.”

Spencer guessed the possibility, her eyes flashing with eagerness and some worry. “What if the news leaks?”

“Have you seen Quinn Family’s news appeared in gossip columns?”

Spencer relaxed, smiling at Brian. “I got it.”
