After staying in the hospital for two days, Ashley was discharged in early Wednesday morning.
Back at Quinn Family, the maids were accustomed to her frequent injuries and hospital visits, so they merely greeted her briefly.
However, the whole family was now discussing the incident where Olivia had set her up.
The butler, considering the current relationship between Ashley and Melissa, had called Mary to take care of Ashley and sent Melissa to help in the kitchen.
Ashley went to her room and took out her phone to charge it.
It had completely drained while she was in the hospital.
After waiting a while, the phone finally turned on, and a flood of messages came in.
After more than half an hour, her phone finally settled down.
She opened WeChat and found Anna’s messages.
“Things aren’t looking good at school. Someone must have led this, and now the teaching office is demanding your expulsion.
“I checked with the counsellor, and she said the school can’t just expel you like that. They need to investigate thoroughly. The school has already reported this to the police.
“They couldn’t reach you by phone. I tried calling too; your phone was off? Hey, how are you staying so calm?
“Mr. Nelson contacted you, right? He suddenly mentioned that you’re on a long leave. What’s going on?”
Ashley read through the messages and grasped the current situation.
John also sent messages, but he seemed more concerned about Ashley’s health than the external issues.
The commotion had evidently frightened him, causing him to worry about her safety and not daring to visit her.
Ashley replied with an “I’m fine.”
After dinner, the butler came to see her.
“Ashley, are you still mad at your mother?” The butler looked at Ashley and sighed.
Ashley didn’t expect the butler to return as a mediator for Melissa.
Seeing her expression, the butler felt uneasy. “Your mother has always treated you well over the years. We can see it. She cares about you, but…“
Ashley smiled. “Of course she cares about me, but this care doesn’t compare to her determination to stay in Quinn Family.”
The butler fell silent.
Ashley had thought about many things during her hospital stay, and now was the right time to confirm with the butler.
“Butler, how did my mother come to work for Quinn Family?”
Melissa had indeed studied music, but she wasn’t outstanding.
Why did Quinn Family hire her long-term?
Furthermore, she lived at Quinn Family under the pretense of a tutor but never taught.
Brian and Emily didn’t play the piano.
The butler looked somewhat embarrassed. “When Mrs and Mr. Quinn had just moved out, the villa was short-staffed, so they hired her.”
“Did she give lessons to the family after she came?”
The butler hesitated and said softly, “No.”
Ashley frowned. “Then how did she stay here for so many years?”
The butler sighed. “The masters have their own ideas. We just execute.”
Ashley couldn’t help but wonder if Melissa had already started a relationship with David back then.
Her breath eased as she looked at the butler. “…Did Mrs know?”
The butler felt that Ashley’s words had hidden meanings. “It was Mrs who decided to take you both in, so how could she not know?”
Ashley was even more confused.
As the butler continued to try persuading her, Ashley didn’t pay much attention. Seeing that she wasn’t receptive, the butler sighed and left.
Ashley lay back on her bed, about to close her eyes and rest, when her phone vibrated. It was a message from Brian.
“Come up.”
Ashley changed into a sexy nightgown from her wardrobe.
When she arrived, Brian was on the phone, leaning against the headboard.
Ashley locked the door and stood silently by the door.
The air was filled with an overly sweet fragrance, as if the air had been turned into cream.
Brian hung up the phone. “Come over.”
Ashley walked towards him.
Brian moved the computer and files from the bedside table.
Ashley, worried about business secrets, kept her distance. “Mr.”
Brian looked at her.
The silk gown fell naturally, highlighting Ashley’s beautiful curves.
The wide open neckline accentuated her beautiful, undulating chest, opening up to just above her petite belly button.
However, her boldness today seemed overly deliberate.
Her long hair was freely draped over her neck, the ends swaying just above her chest.
Her head lowered, so he couldn’t read her expression.
But the tension in her shoulders, the restless movement of her fingers, and her short, shallow breaths all indicated her nervousness and resistance.
Brian looked up. “Do you hate me?”
“No!” Ashley responded immediately.
Her quick reply only made it seem more suspicious.
Ashley froze for a moment, then slowly lifted her head.
Their eyes met.
Looking into Brian’s eyes, Ashley felt a sense of being seen through.
Thinking of the rumors online, the frames of Olivia, and her school...
Ashley bit her tongue, composed herself, and looked at Brian with determination. “I don’t.”
Brian raised his hand. “Come here.”
Ashley walked over, bent down, and pressed her face against his palm.
Her eyes were moist. “Mr, I missed you.”
“Mm?” Brian smirked. “Sweet talk?”
Ashley lifted her hand, resting it on his hand, and rubbed it affectionately. “I... I just realized some things.”
“What things?”
Ashley looked into his eyes. “I’ve realized that without Mr, I’m doomed.”
Brian squinted at her.
Ashley held onto the edge of the bed, and as she moved, her shoes fell with a thud.
In the moment of Brian’s surprise, she lifted her petite, cute foot and placed it on the bed.
Ashley took the initiative to climb onto the bed, straddling Brian’s lap. “Mr, I was wrong before. I won’t make the same mistake again. Please, Mr, do me.”
As she said “do me,” she rubbed his hand again.
It was like a spoiled little kitten that had been thrown out of the house, and suddenly returned to apologize.
