Chapter 80. He stood me up

Huo Yuanchen's tenderness towards Wen Li was only limited to the period when the aftereffects of that thing were still lingering. When his lust faded and he no longer thought about Wen Li's body, he sent her away.

He pushed her to the other side of the bed and said, "Go sleep over there."

It was a cold snap these past two days, and Wen Li couldn't help shivering when he lay naked on the cold sheets.

She turned around and glanced at Huo Yuanchen. The bastard was already lying in the warm bed, ready to sleep, but her bed was still cold.

Wen Li was a person with a bad temper, so he simply got out of bed holding the quilt.

She moved a lot and made a lot of noise. Huo Yuanchen was disturbed by her and said impatiently, "What's wrong with you again?"

"I'll sleep in the guest room so as not to disturb you."

Most of what Wen Li said was actually out of anger. If Huo Yuanchen had coaxed her or reached out to pull her, she would not have left.

But he didn't. He closed his eyes indifferently and said, "Close the door when you go out."

Wen Li did as he was told and closed the door very loudly, intentionally not wanting him to have a good sleep.

She lay alone on the equally cold bed in the guest room and thought it was fine this way. At least she could turn over as she pleased while sleeping, even if she fell into a somersault. She didn't have to worry about disturbing the man's sleep.

For several days in a row, after Huo Yuanchen asked Wen Li to come to his house to do some work, she would go to the guest room to sleep with a blanket. He ignored her and even formed a tacit understanding.

One time, Wen Li was so exhausted by him that she forgot to take the blanket and left. He urged her, "Are you not leaving yet?"

Wen Li was too embarrassed to tell Zhou Ying about this, as he thought it would be too embarrassing to tell anyone. He also felt suffocated keeping it in his heart, so he counted the days on his fingers every day, hoping to go to Country L as soon as possible.

The night before departure, Huo Yuanchen did not look for her. He let her go back to her house to pack her luggage. Before going to bed, he called her and said, "I have an important meeting tomorrow morning. It won't take long. I can still catch up by going to the airport after the meeting. But it's hard to get a taxi there . When the time comes, you can call a car to pick me up. I'll reimburse you for the fare."

Wen Li didn't want to cause any trouble, so he agreed and asked him for the meeting place and approximate time of the meeting. He also checked the taxi time from there to the airport, and found that he could arrive at the airport about an hour before departure.

The next day, Wen Li took a taxi to the meeting place of Huo Yuanchen as agreed. She specifically told the driver, "Please wait a moment. Another person needs to get on the car from here. Then please take us to the airport. The waiting time will be included in the fare."

She came to pick up Huo Yuanchen thirty minutes early, fearing that he would leave the meeting early and leave for the airport earlier. But she waited in the car for an hour and did not see Huo Yuanchen come out.

She was afraid of disturbing his meeting, so she didn't dare to call him at first. Later, she couldn't wait any longer and called him, but her phone was busy and the call couldn't go through.

Wen Li was worried that something might happen to Huo Yuanchen, and she was also worried that she would miss the plane, so she was extremely anxious. The driver also asked her impatiently in front of her, "Are you going to leave or not? Do you know that I missed two big orders by waiting for an hour?"

Wen Li kept apologizing to the driver and called Huo Yuanchen again, but this time his phone was turned off.

She had no choice but to call Zhou Ying and ask for Yu Jingchen's cell phone number.

Zhou Ying asked her in surprise, "Why haven't you arrived at the airport yet?"

"Waiting for Huo Yuanchen. I can't contact him. I want to see if Professor Yu can contact him?"

Zhou Ying was even more surprised and said, "No way, Huo Yuanchen has already arrived at the airport. Twenty minutes ago, I saw Yu Jingchen post a circle of friends. It was a group photo of their overseas inspection group, and Huo Yuanchen was in it."

Wen Li didn't have time to ask in detail, and hurriedly told the driver, "Please drive faster, I have a flight to catch."

...

Wen Li passed the security check just before the cabin door closed. The security checkpoint was a long way from the boarding gate. She ran all the way with her suitcase in hand, and the announcement of "Passenger Wen Li, please board the plane as soon as possible" kept ringing on the way. She hadn't run such a long distance in a long time, her heart was about to jump out of her chest, her calves were sore and swollen, but she didn't dare to slow down at all, and ran forward with gritted teeth.

When she finally boarded the plane, everyone in the cabin was looking at her. When she put her suitcase in the bag, she couldn't find an empty seat, so she had to ask for help from a passing flight attendant. The lady sitting next to her said rudely, "She has so much trouble. How can she be so bold as to make so many people wait for her?"

Wen Li didn't explain to the others. She was in so much pain at the moment. Because she ran so fast, her calves were twitching and swollen. This was not the worst. What was more painful was that her nose, throat, and lungs were aching as if on fire, and she couldn't stop crying.

She used up a whole pack of tissues before her tears finally stopped. Her nose was still sore and she wanted to blow her nose.

The tissues in her bag were all gone, and the rest were in the suitcase, so Wen Li stood up and went to the bathroom to get some. On the way, she passed Huo Yuanchen's seat. He was reading a newspaper, with his phone charging on the small table. When he saw her coming, he frowned and asked her, "Why are you boarding so late?"

Wen Li ignored him, went to the bathroom to get some paper, and sat in the empty seat at the back of the airport to rest for a while before he finally recovered.

The aunt next to her just now rolled her eyes at her several times and asked her if she had any infectious disease. She told her to rest at home if she was sick and not to run around and infect others with the virus.

She felt so upset that she had no time to explain to others. She also felt that there was nothing to explain. They were just strangers and they could think whatever they wanted about her. It wouldn't cost her anything, so it didn't matter.

But I still feel sad.

She had clearly left very early, but she didn't even have lunch because she was afraid she would be late. She could have arrived at the airport early and leisurely, and she could have not delayed everyone's time.

Wen Li sat in the last row and did not go back to her seat. It took more than seven hours to fly from Hai City to Country L. She took out an eye mask from her bag, covered her eyes and began to sleep.

She didn't know how long she had slept when she felt someone talking to her. Wen Li thought it was the flight attendant distributing meals, so she waved her hand without opening her eyes and said, "I'm not feeling well right now and don't want to eat. Can you give it to me later?"

The person became quiet when she was talked to.

After a while, she felt someone put his hand on her forehead and pressed it. She was startled and suddenly woke up.

When she took off the blindfold, she saw that it was Huo Yuanchen, who was sitting in the seat next to her. He was stretching out his hand to test whether she had a fever.

Wen Li brushed his hand away and said calmly, "I'm not sick."

She wasn't sick, she just ran too hard waiting for him and almost missed her plane.
