Chapter 103. The gift she gave was lost

When Wen Li returned to the villa to find Qi Meizhen, he didn't expect to run into Huo Mingqi who had just returned from get off work.

Huo Mingqi was on the phone, his tone was quite gentle, he said in detail, "Yes, there was not much traffic, I have arrived home. Did you receive the necklace I bought for you? Just wear it, don't worry about the money, you lived in such a tight situation those years, I should compensate you."

He was originally talking incessantly, but the moment he saw Wen Li clearly, his face turned cold. He said to the phone, "Talk to you later," and hung up.

"Why are you here?" Huo Mingqi said coldly, without even calling Wen Li's name.

Wen Li lowered her eyelids, but still greeted him politely, "Hello, Uncle Huo, Aunt Qi asked me to come here."

Huo Mingqi said "hmm" without any emotion and walked straight into the villa, not even bothering to spare a glance at Wen Li.

It's almost as if you have your unwelcome written all over your face.

Wen Li didn't care. Huo Mingqi had looked down on her for a long time, and there was no need for her to feel bad for someone who didn't like her. She stood outside the villa for a while before going in.

So as to avoid following Huo Mingqi in, as if she was chasing him to curry favor with him.

However, she happened to meet Huo Yuanchen again. He was carefully supporting An Wen, walking very slowly, fearing that An Wen would fall. As expected, the latter limped, and each step was extremely difficult. Judging from the severity of the injury, it didn't seem like she had fallen, but rather a broken leg.

Seeing Wen Li, Huo Yuanchen wanted to say something, but before he could open his mouth, Wen Li had already stepped in.

When Huo Yuanchen helped An Wen into the living room of the villa, Wen Li was standing next to the trash can, with his head down in a daze.

He helped An Wen to the sofa, walked over and asked Wen Li, "Did you see my dad just now?"

Wen Li didn't look at him and just said "hmm".

Huo Yuanchen said, "Don't talk nonsense when we eat later. The last time I had dinner with Aunt Li, the things you said at the table made my dad very angry."

Wen Li snorted and pouted, "I made Mr. Huo angry? Then I am really guilty. Do I have to apologize to your father in fear and trepidation?

Her tone was so sarcastic that Huo Yuanchen couldn't help but frowned and said to her, "Don't speak in that tone, you're like a little gangster. You don't know, after you left my house last time, my dad asked me why I gave you so much Pratt. Although he didn't say anything later, his intention was obvious. If you make him angry again, I can't help you."

Wen Li bit her lip and said, "You didn't want to help me in the first place."

Huo Yuanchen smiled bitterly, "I haven't helped you yet? Didn't I provide your father's medicine regularly? Didn't I get you a visa to Country L? And didn't I introduce Wilson to you? Wen Li, you should be conscientious."

Wen Li looked at him without saying anything. It was indeed as he said, he had helped with all these things, but when had he not asked her for compensation? He was very stingy with her, and he calculated every penny clearly and remembered it clearly.

"Stingy guy." Wen Li said in a low voice, gritting his teeth.

Huo Yuanchen, who was about to leave, heard this. He looked at her coldly, said nothing, and turned away.

Wen Li's eyes returned to the intact gift box in the trash can. This was the cufflinks she gave to Huo Mingqi.

When she came in, she heard Michelle Yim saying to Huo Mingqi, "Wen Li brought you a gift."

Then, she saw that when Michelle Yim went to the kitchen to serve the dishes, Huo Mingqi threw the things she brought into the trash can.

She didn't have any emotions, but was just hesitating whether to pick up the cufflinks or not? Huo Mingqi didn't want them anyway, so it would be a waste to throw them away.

But if she picked it up, it was a man's thing, and she couldn't use it. It would be bad for her to give something that Huo Mingqi had thrown away to someone else.

Wen Li thought about it and decided to pick up the cufflinks. She thought she could put them on a second-hand website.

When it was time for lunch, Huo Mingqi came out of the study and smelled the fragrance of cake. He frowned and said to Michelle Yim unhappily, "Didn't I tell you not to tinker with these things anymore? You have a pampered life, why do you like to do these cook's jobs?"

Michelle Yim explained awkwardly, "Last time Wen Li said she liked it, so I taught her how to make it, but it wasn't much..."

Huo Mingqi interrupted her and said, "Then go find a bakery outside. You guys have made the house smell so sweet, how can that be? If you're really bored, you can read some books on business management, so you don't have to understand anything I say."

Maggie Cheung didn't look very happy, but because there were guests, she didn't want to argue with her husband, so she said, "I know."

Several people then sat down at the table to eat. They didn't talk much, and most of the time Huo Mingqi was asking Huo Yuanchen about the visit to Country L. Qi Meizhen occasionally picked up food for Wen Li and said, "You had the operation, you should eat more to replenish your body."

Among the dishes served today, several were food supplements, and Chinese herbs such as astragalus and angelica were added to the chicken soup. Wen Li was a little touched and said, "Thank you, Aunt Qi. The dishes today are all delicious."

Michelle Yim said, "Then you should eat more. You are also pitiful. You are sick abroad, and you are only accompanied by Yuanchen, who doesn't know how to take care of you. You are suffering."

Wen Li looked up and met Huo Yuanchen's eyes. He didn't show any expression, but she still felt her face getting hot.

He lowered his head and said to Michelle Yim sincerely, "No, Aunt Qi. Huo Yuanchen took good care of me. I was hospitalized this time, thanks to him taking care of me day and night. I am very grateful to him."

Michelle Yim looked at Huo Yuanchen with appreciation and picked up a chicken leg for him.

An Wen suddenly said, "Sister Wen Li, I heard that you were hospitalized this time because of a ruptured ovarian cyst? Then you have to be careful. If you have this disease, it will be difficult for you to get pregnant in the future. It's best to tell your partner clearly before getting married, so as not to delay him."

There was a moment of silence at the table. Huo Mingqi looked at Wen Li calmly, his eyes heavy.

Maggie Cheung said with a very unhappy expression, "Eat your meal well and don't talk nonsense."

An Wen stuck out her tongue, looking very innocent, and said, "I'm not talking nonsense, I studied this, how could I not know it?"

Although the sound was low, it was loud enough for several people at the table to hear.

Huo Yuanchen glanced at her. She blinked innocently and asked, "Brother Yuanchen, am I remembering it wrong? I remember the textbook said this."

Huo Yuanchen didn't blame her after all, he just said, "Eat quickly."

She said "Oh" playfully and picked up the chicken leg from Huo Yuanchen's bowl, "I want to eat this."

No matter how good Wen Li's appetite was, she didn't want to eat anything at this time. She put the bowl down, looked at Huo Yuanchen calmly, with a faint smile on her lips, and asked him in a soft voice.

"Yuanchen, do you mind?"
