Wen Li's original plan was to spend four days in the ancient city. On the third night, Huo Yuanchen received a call from the school informing him that he would be going on a business trip abroad the next day.
He told Wen Li about this and said, "Thank you for taking care of my mother. She has been very happy these days, and it's all thanks to you. I will thank you when I get back."
Wen Li asked him, "When are we leaving? This place is not close to Haishi, will we make it in time?"
Huo Yuanchen said, "My flight is tomorrow night. I have to go back to Hai City to pack my things and take the high-speed train tomorrow morning. I'll leave my car to you. You and my mom can continue playing or drive back to Hai City."
Wen Li nodded, "Okay."
There was plenty of time on the last day, so Wen Li had planned to sleep a little longer before getting up. But when Huo Yuanchen left, she still woke up.
She lay on the bed, watching him pack his luggage silently. For some reason, she felt a little panicked. She felt that once he left, the delicate balance between them that had been so hard to establish would be broken.
"Huo Yuanchen."
She couldn't help but call out to him, but when he turned around, she didn't know what to say.
After a long while, he said, "Come back soon. And have a safe journey."
"Um."
He walked over, reached out to pull her up from the bed, put his hands on both sides of her, and trapped her between him and the head of the bed. He looked at her face for a while, lowered his head, and kissed her on the lips.
It was a particularly gentle and long kiss, as if he wanted to remember her taste deeply.
After the kiss, he patted her cheek and said, "Sleep a little longer."
Wen Li couldn't sleep, so he said, "I'll watch you go."
He agreed, turned around and continued to pack his luggage, and soon finished packing, pulling the suitcase out. When he opened the door, he paused, turned back and looked at Wen Li deeply, but finally said nothing.
He went downstairs, walked out of the B&B, and when he reached the gate of the yard, he looked back again.
This time he saw it very clearly. Wen Li was standing at the upstairs window watching him. When she saw him looking over, she waved at him vigorously and seemed to say something.
He guessed it was something like safe journey.
He smiled and waved at her, motioning her to go back to bed.
It was actually very quick to take the high-speed rail from the ancient city back to Haishi. He arrived at the airport in the afternoon of the same day.
Huo Mingqi sent him there. The father and son didn't talk much along the way. It was not until he was about to board the plane that Huo Mingqi said, "Your mother is in a bad mood this time. She hasn't been home for so many days. Was it Wen Li's idea?"
Huo Yuanchen frowned and said, "Mom has lived in peace with Aunt Li for so many years. If she wanted to take action against Aunt Li, why would she wait until now? Maybe you really blamed my mom wrongly for Aunt Li's injury."
Huo Mingqi said, "Lili told me that no matter who pushed her, she won't pursue it. She's so generous, there's no reason for me to keep harping on this matter. Tell your mother that I don't blame her anymore and I won't divorce her. Let her relax as soon as possible and go home."
Huo Yuanchen nodded, "I'll tell you."
Huo Mingqi added, "An Wen acted impulsively and affected your reputation in school. She was indeed wrong in this matter. But as long as An Wen can successfully complete her studies and graduate from Ocean University, it will help the company's external image. I have already contacted the reporters and they are waiting to take photos of her at the graduation ceremony. At this critical juncture, don't bother with her. You still have to coax her."
Huo Yuanchen disagreed, "How I treat An Wen is not for your company."
Huo Mingqi said casually, "I know. You are doing this for An Ran, her sister, so of course you have to take good care of her. We have different paths but the same goal, you just need to make sure An Wen graduates well."
After a pause, he continued, "The place where you are going on a business trip this time is not far from An Ran. If you have time, go see her. She has done a lot for the company over the years. Even if she has no credit, she has worked hard."
After saying that, seeing Huo Yuanchen remained silent, he laughed again, "Look at me, I love to nag even when I'm old. Even if I don't say anything, you're going to see An Ran this time, right?"
Huo Yuanchen said calmly, "It's time for me to board the plane."
Huo Mingqi waved at him, "Go ahead. Have a safe journey."
When Wen Li drove Michelle Chik to Huo Yuanchen's apartment, she checked the time. It was 7:30 in the evening, and Huo Yuanchen should still be on the plane at this time.
Despite this, she still sent him a message, "Aunt Qi and I have returned to Hai City safely."
She thought he would feel more at ease if he could see her news as soon as he landed.
But after Huo Yuanchen left, he rarely contacted her. He even ignored the message she sent to report that she was safe. It was unknown whether he did not see it or did not want to reply.
She didn't take the initiative to ask what he was doing, nor did she want to question why he didn't reply to her message.
She also has her own things to do, and Huo Yuanchen is not everything in her life.
However, when Michelle Yim said that Huo Mingqi called her and asked her to go back and she couldn't make up her mind, Wen Li still decided to call Huo Yuanchen.
After all, she was an outsider and could not get involved in other people's household affairs. But Michelle Yim needed someone to help her make decisions, and she felt that this person could only be Huo Yuanchen.
She was afraid of disturbing his work conversation and rest, so she calculated the time difference and called him at around eight o'clock in the evening.
For this purpose, she even set an alarm clock and got up early to make the call.
The phone rang for a long time before it was picked up. Huo Yuanchen was nowhere to be found, and his voice was low, as if he was afraid someone might hear him.
"What's the matter?" he asked.
Wen Li resisted the urge to ask what he was doing and said, "Uncle Huo asked Aunt Qi to go back."
Huo Yuanchen said, "I know about this. My father mentioned it to me."
His tone was a little nonchalant, as if he wanted to quickly end the call with her.
Wen Li asked him, "What do you think? Do you think Aunt Qi should go back?"
Huo Yuanchen said, "It depends on what my mother thinks. Whether she chooses to go back and continue living with my father, or chooses to leave my father, as her son, I support her. But I can't make the decision for her."
Wen Li was silent for a while and said, "You are right. You have to make your own decision on how to live. I will tell Aunt Qi your opinion."
She paused and then said, "Are you very busy on this business trip?"
Huo Yuanchen didn't say anything.
Wen Li didn't say anything else.
There was only a faint sound of electricity in the phone, as if hinting at something.
After a long while, Wen Li finally spoke, "Then I won't bother you anymore. I'll hang up first. Go ahead and get busy."
Huo Yuanchen stopped her and said, "The tax rate here is low. Do you have anything you like? I can buy it for you in the last two days when my schedule is not busy."
Wen Li said, "No, I don't want anything. You can buy it for someone else."
As for who this other person is, it all depends on Huo Yuanchen's mood.
Huo Yuanchen heard the sarcasm in her tone, rubbed his brows impatiently, and said, "You think too much. Stay with my mother for a few days first, and don't go back to your place, so that I don't have to look for you when I return from a business trip. It's very tiring."
Wen Li asked curiously, "What do you want from me?"
He hummed and said, "I really want to do it to you."
