Chapter 212. Protecting Her

The place for dinner was chosen by Michelle Yim.

Wen Li arrived a little early and sat at the table browsing his phone. In the middle of the meal, he received a call from Michelle Yim, apologizing to her, saying that because the cake shop was so busy, he was unable to leave on time and would have to wait another twenty minutes before arriving at the restaurant.

Wen Li naturally didn't care and said, "It's okay, Aunt Qi, I don't have anything to do tonight. Please drive slowly and be careful."

Twenty minutes later, Wen Li looked outside the restaurant and saw Michelle Chik's car slowly approaching. She left her coat on the table, walked out with her phone, and wanted to pick up Michelle Chik.

The accident happened just as she walked to the door of the restaurant.

After parking the car, Maggie Cheung got out and walked around to the other side of the car to check the doors and glass. Just as she finished the inspection and was about to go to the restaurant, a motorcycle suddenly drove up behind her.

Maybe it was because the light was too dim, or maybe there was a sharp turn here. In any case, the motorcycle did not pay any attention to the pedestrians in front of it and was driving very fast all the way. It did not realize something was wrong until it drove in front of Michelle Yim.

It was too late to slow down at this time. The motorcycle brushed past Qi Meizhen's body and rushed past her. Qi Meizhen was knocked to the ground, and the things in her hands scattered all over the ground. She was unable to get up for a long time.

Wen Li was looking down and replying to a customer's message about changing his appointment time. Just as he clicked the send button, he heard someone shouting, "There's a car accident. Come help! Someone's been hit!"

She didn't take it seriously at first, but just looked forward in the direction of the sound until she saw Michelle Yim's car parked in front of the restaurant, but Michelle Yim was no longer in her sight.

Wen Li's heart skipped a beat and a bad premonition came to his mind.

"No, it can't be such a coincidence, no, it must be someone else."

She muttered to herself as she ran towards where the crowd was gathering.

As soon as she passed by, she saw women's bags scattered on the asphalt road and recognized them at a glance. They belonged to Michelle Yim, and she accompanied her husband to buy them.

"Move aside, this might be... someone I know."

Wen Li muttered something, she herself didn't know what she was saying, her voice was surprisingly small due to weakness.

But there were still people onlookers who heard what she said and made way for her one by one.

She walked forward mechanically, and after a few steps, she saw Michelle Yim lying on the ground covered in blood in the middle of the crowd.

Her knees went weak and she almost collapsed to the ground.

A passerby quickly supported her and comforted her, saying, "Don't worry, someone has already called the emergency number, let the doctor save her first."

Wen Li nodded dully. She was not a professional and did not dare to move Qi Meizhen's body for fear of causing secondary injury. But when she saw the blood on the ground, she was terrified.

She didn't even have the strength to hold the phone anymore, so she had to ask the person next to her, "Please call Professor Huo in the address book and tell him that his mother was in a car accident."

Huo Yuanchen arrived at the hospital just as the ambulance did.

When Wen Li got off the ambulance, her legs were still weak and she almost fell when her feet touched the ground. It was Huo Yuanchen who came over and supported her.

She glanced at him and said in a tired tone, "You're here."

Huo Yuanchen nodded and his eyes fell on the medical staff getting off the ambulance.

The stretcher is being carried out of the ambulance.

Wen Li knew that he was worried about Qi Meizhen, so he said weakly, "The doctor on the bus just treated Aunt Qi, and the bleeding has stopped. But she needs to be sent to the hospital for a detailed examination to see if her internal organs are injured."

Huo Yuanchen nodded and asked in a cold tone, "Have you found the vehicle that caused the accident?"

Wen Li shook his head. "It happened so fast that no one could react. I only knew it was a motorcycle that ran away after knocking down Aunt Qi."

When she said this, she suddenly thought of something and said anxiously, "Surveillance! I forgot to ask for the restaurant's surveillance video."

Huo Yuanchen comforted her, "I'll call someone else. Don't worry about it. Are you okay?"

"No. I was far away at the time." Wen Li said self-reproachfully, "If I had walked faster, maybe I would have seen the motorcycle, and maybe I could have reminded Aunt Qi."

Huo Yuanchen patted her back to comfort her. After a long silence, he said, "Fortunately you were far away. If you were there, my mother might not be the only one in trouble."

Wen Li caught a hint of coldness from his words. She shuddered in her heart, "You mean, today's car accident might not be an accident?"

Huo Yuanchen lowered his eyes and said, "Let's wait for the results of the investigation."

The most urgent task is to wait for Michelle Yim's surgery to be completed, and then wait for news from the traffic police.

However, both Huo Yuanchen and Wen Li had a vague idea of someone in their hearts.

Michelle Yim doesn't have many social activities. Even though she now runs a cake shop, she is always polite to customers and has never offended anyone. There are no other cake shops on that block, so there is no such thing as competition.

The circle she interacts with is too small, so it is not difficult to guess who has the motive to harm her.

When Huo Mingqi arrived at the hospital, Qi Meizhen was still in the operating room. He saw his son sitting with Wen Li from a distance, holding Wen Li's hand tightly in his palm, supporting her in a protective manner.

Huo Mingqi frowned, walked over and called out, "Yuanchen."

Huo Yuanchen didn't stand up. He glanced at him calmly and said, "My mother is still being rescued."

Huo Mingqi nodded, sat down opposite them, and said politely, " Wen Li, I'm sorry to bother you with our family's affairs. Since Yuan Chen and I have arrived, Wen Li, you can go back first. I'll send someone to thank you in a few days."

Wen Li could sense the alienation in his words, hesitated, and nodded, "Then I..."

Huo Yuanchen held her hand and stopped her from getting up, "Don't leave."

Huo Mingqi shouted in a displeased tone, "Yuanchen, this is our family matter."

Huo Yuanchen looked at him and said in a calm tone, "I believe that when my mother wakes up, she would prefer to see Wen Li here."

Huo Mingqi's face darkened. "Is this the way you talk to your biological father? You said your mother would rather see Wen Li around. Then tell me, who does your mother not want to see?"

Huo Yuanchen sneered and said, "Do you really want me to tell you? Have you ever thought about why my mother had to open a cake shop outside instead of living a life of luxury? You complained to me the other day that my mother didn't come home, but do you remember what you said to my mother when you stayed overnight outside? Also, you punished Aunt Li a few days ago, and my mother got into trouble today. Don't you think this is too coincidental?"

Huo Mingqi said in a cold tone, "Don't you just want to say that it was Lili who hit your mother?"

Huo Yuanchen glanced at his father and a sneer appeared on the corner of his mouth.
