Chapter 4 Relationships

Fortunately, the interior of the B&B is completely different from the exterior. The small one-bedroom apartment was kept tidy and cozy by the landlady, which was within Jiang Sui's acceptable range. It was getting late, so Jiang Sui made a reservation directly with the owner.

When registering identity information, the landlady not only asked for Jiang Sui's ID card, but also asked for Si Nian's.

Jiang Sui was just about to explain to his aunt that she lived there on her own and didn't need to register him, but Sinian had already taken out his ID card from his pocket and handed it over.

Jiang Sui didn't know why Si Nian didn't explain, and he just watched the landlady register quietly, occasionally reminding her that she had read the ID number wrong.

Forget it, it’s just one night anyway, Jiang Sui was too lazy to explain.

After registering, the landlady returned the ID cards to the two. Before leaving, she looked back at them and said with an ambiguous smile, "Girl, you have good taste. Your boyfriend is a few years older than you and is considerate. He also has a better financial foundation. You should cherish him!"

Jiang Sui was stunned after hearing this and turned to look at Si Nian. Si Nian acted as if he didn't hear anything. He had one hand in his overalls pocket and the other hand was fiddling with the air conditioner remote control.

Jiang Sui turned around and was about to explain that they were not in that kind of relationship, but the landlady seemed very anxious. She just left a sentence "I have something else to do, I'm leaving first" and went downstairs with a thump.

"Why don't you explain?"

After the landlady left, Jiang Sui still couldn't help but ask.

Si Nian pressed the remote control, and with a beep, the air conditioner's windshield slowly fell down. He turned his head to look at Jiang Sui, frowning slightly, "What do you want to explain?"

"We are not in that kind of relationship at all!"

Si Nian nodded in understanding, then took the remote control and continued to slowly adjust the temperature of the air conditioner. The only sound in the quiet air was the "beeping" sound of the air conditioner.

I don’t know how long it took, but Si Nian finally seemed to have found a suitable temperature. He put the remote control back on the table and said casually, "No need!"

"Why not?"

Jiang Sui couldn't understand why explaining the facts was unnecessary in his eyes? Or did he think that no matter how much others misunderstood them, they would never become that kind of relationship, so he simply didn't bother to explain?

Si Nian stared at Jiang Sui for a while, and seeing that she looked stubborn, he turned his face away, slowly walked to the balcony, his eyes drifting out the window.

“Sometimes people don’t care about the facts. They prefer to believe what they see with their own eyes. So there is no need to explain to people who are insignificant.”

Jiang Sui looked towards Si Nian. The light on the balcony was a little dim, and his profile was mostly hidden in the shadows. She could not see his expression clearly.

They were both silent for a while, and Si Nian raised his hand and slowly pulled the balcony curtains.

"It's not safe for a girl to be known to live alone."

Jiang Sui was stunned. So that's how it is...

Si Nian put his hands in the pockets of his overalls and walked back to Jiang Sui. Jiang Sui stared at his face for a moment. There was no expression on his face, it remained calm.

"Let's go, I'll take you to eat something and bring your luggage up."

Jiang Sui had never been used to the food on airplanes, so she simply poked a few times with her chopsticks and let the flight attendant take it away.

Before Si Nian mentioned eating, Jiang Sui didn't feel hungry. But when he mentioned it, she suddenly felt a little uncomfortable in her stomach.

So she stopped being so hypocritical, took the key and followed Si Nian out the door.

There is a snack street across the road from the entrance of the community, which is very close. In addition, many students from the university town and office workers come here to eat during this period of time, and parking spaces are tight. Si Nian did not drive, and his car is still parked downstairs of the homestay.

After leaving the main gate of the community, the two people walked one after the other, and no one said anything.

When they reached the intersection, Si Nian stopped and turned to look behind him at Jiang Sui, who was occasionally kicking pebbles as if he was taking a walk.

Noticing Si Nian's gaze, Jiang Sui looked up and saw the traffic light at the intersection turn from green to red. So she didn't rush and continued walking forward at the original speed.

When she walked up to Si Nian, she heard him say "little snail", and there seemed to be a smile in his voice.

Jiang Sui wanted to look up at him, but the red light turned green again, and Si Nian had already walked across the street before her.

Jiang Sui was a little dazed. He had said the same thing to her in the same situation.

When I was a child, my mother often had to go to tutoring institutions to teach children after school. After school, Si Nian would first go to the kindergarten to pick up Jiang Sui, and then the two of them would walk across two streets together to go home.

It was the same at that time. Jiang Sui walked very slowly, and Si Nian would stop and wait for her every time he walked a certain distance. When she caught up with him, he would call her "little snail" and then continue walking in front of her.

Jiang Sui was thinking about the past while crossing the road, and her steps became slower. It was not until the shrill sound of a car horn rang in her ears that she came to her senses and turned her head to look.

In an instant, Jiang Sui's eyes were spinning and the sound of brakes cut through the night sky.

When Jiang Sui regained consciousness from the shock, she was already leaning tightly against Si Nian. He was holding the back of her head with one hand and the other hand on her slender waist.

Everything happened so suddenly that she had no idea what was going on.

The driver's cursing voice came from behind, "Are you sick? You cross the road like you're walking down the street. Don't cause trouble for others if you're looking for death!"

Above my head, Si Nian's magnetic and pleasant voice came, "Sorry!"

Perhaps because he saw Si Nian's apology attitude was good, the driver didn't say anything more. He restarted the car and drove out like the wind.

Jiang Sui's heart was beating fast, and she heard Si Nian's pleasant voice again from above her head, "Crossing the road while daydreaming in space?"

The warm touch of his palm was transmitted to Jiang Sui's skin through a thin layer of cloth, becoming hotter and hotter.

He had a faint pine scent on him, mixed with a hint of the unique masculine scent of summer, which so violently penetrated into Jiang Sui's nostrils.

Obviously, she was raised in Si Nian's arms when she was a child, but at this moment he held her in front of him like this, strange yet familiar. Such an intimate behavior suddenly made Jiang Sui feel like she was electrocuted, and she pushed Si Nian back a few steps.

Her sudden and extreme action stunned even Si Nian for a moment.

Since she grew up and realized that she and Si Nian were not a real family, Jiang Sui always reminded herself in her heart that Si Nian was not her brother. So when they met again, since they no longer had this relationship, he was just a familiar yet slightly strange person of the opposite sex, and they should not behave so intimately anymore.
