Chapter 64 Gift

Jiang Sui frowned, "Why?"

I clearly had never heard him mention any plans to go to northern Beijing before.

Si Nian was silent for a while, but still told her the truth.

"I want to go see Uncle Jiang. I heard that he was hospitalized before the New Year and was discharged yesterday."

Jiang Sui paused for a moment, lowered his eyes, and even spoke in a low voice.

"But I don't want to see him."

Si Nian knew that persuading Jiang Sui to go to Jingbei would be a difficult process, but he still wanted to try.

After all, he was her only blood relative in the world, and he didn't want her to regret it in the future.

Si Nian put his hands on Jiang Sui's shoulders and forced her to face him.

"Sui Sui, just like you told me before, after all, you are Uncle Jiang's only daughter, and you are each other's only relative."

"No, he has Gu Wan, so he doesn't need me as a relative, but I..."

Jiang Sui looked at Si Nian and said nothing more.

Si Nian knew what she meant, and he continued to comfort her, "But neither Aunt Gu nor I can replace each other, and you haven't met Aunt Gu, so how can you have a preconceived idea that she is not good? You should go meet her, maybe the misunderstanding will be resolved."

Hearing Si Nian's words, Jiang Sui looked at Si Nian in disbelief and asked, "You call her Aunt Gu?"

He used to call her mother Aunt Sui, and now he called the woman Aunt Gu. There seemed to be no difference except for the surname.

How could he put them on an equal footing?

Jiang Sui couldn't accept it. It was as if she was betrayed by someone she trusted deeply. She felt inexplicably breathless.

She coldly took away Si Nian's hand on her shoulder, went back to the room and closed the door without saying a word.

Si Nian didn't expect that a casual name he called her would step on her landmine.

He stood in front of her door for a while, feeling somewhat annoyed, then went into the kitchen to cook breakfast.

Then during the day, he asked her to come out for breakfast, but she ignored him, and the same was true for lunch and dinner.

Seeing that Jiang Sui didn't come out of the room and didn't eat all day, Si Nian was really worried.

He paced back and forth in the living room, thinking about how to get her to come out for something to eat, when he suddenly heard the door of her room open.

Then Jiang Sui walked out with a dull look on his face.

He immediately came up to her, but didn't dare to speak first, so he just kept staring at her.

She suddenly looked up and asked him, "Is there anything to eat? I'm hungry!"

Hearing this, Si Nian immediately went to heat up the meal for Jiang Sui.

At the dinner table, Jiang Sui ate her meal in small bites, while Si Nian sat opposite her and looked at her quietly. Neither of them spoke a word during the whole process.

Until Jiang Sui finished the last grain of rice and put the bowl on the table.

After a while of silence, she finally spoke, "I'll go to Jingbei with you tomorrow."

On the second day of the Chinese New Year, the two took the high-speed rail to Beijing City early in the morning.

After getting off the high-speed train, Si Nian bought some gifts and took Jiang Sui in a taxi straight to Jiang Guodong's house.

Jiang Sui didn't say much along the way, just staring blankly out the window, and Si Nian didn't know what she was thinking.

But when they arrived at the door of Jiang Guodong's new home, Jiang Sui suddenly backed off again. She turned around with her suitcase and tried to escape, but was quickly stopped by Si Nian.

He began to persuade her again , "I know you are in a complicated mood, but since you are here, why not meet him? If you feel uncomfortable after meeting him, I will take you away. Let's go back to Shenhai, okay?"

Jiang Sui was silent for a while and then nodded.

Si Nian went to ring the doorbell and she hid behind him.

After a while, the door opened and the person who opened it was Jiang Guodong.

"Happy New Year, Uncle Jiang!"

Si Nian first wished Jiang Guodong a happy new year, and then moved aside without waiting for his response.

Then Jiang Guodong immediately saw Jiang Sui who was standing behind Si Nian.

There was surprise in his eyes, but more of joy.

"Sui Sui! Come on, come in quickly."

He immediately moved aside to make room for Si Nian and Jiang Sui to enter the house.

Jiang Sui raised her eyes and was stunned when she saw Jiang Guodong. She felt that Lao Jiang looked thinner than the last time they met during the summer vacation.

Jiang Sui was led by Si Nian into the room slowly. As soon as he sat down on the sofa, he began to look around the room.

The living room is decorated very warmly and the hygiene is meticulous.

Jiang Sui knew that all this was due to that woman.

But anyway, she thought, she couldn't like her.

Jiang Guodong took the drinks and a bunch of delicious food and placed them on the coffee table, then chatted casually with Si Nian. Jiang Sui just sat aside without saying a word.

Not long after, the door of Jiang Guodong's house was opened from the outside.

A middle-aged woman, dressed simply but looking very elegant, walked in carrying large and small bags.

When she saw the people sitting on the sofa, she was stunned for a moment, then smiled at them.

"Is it Sui Sui and Si Nian?"

Si Nian stood up first and nodded at her, "Yes, Aunt Gu."

Jiang Sui sat on the sofa without moving at first, but later under Si Nian's gaze, he had to stand up, but he did not say anything.

Gu Wan smiled and asked them to sit down again. Without saying a few words, he gave up the space to them and went into the kitchen.

Jiang Guodong was probably not satisfied with Jiang Sui's attitude just now. He lowered his voice and asked Jiang Sui, "Sui Sui, where is your good upbringing? How can you be so rude to Aunt Gu?"

Jiang Sui immediately raised his voice and retorted, "My manners and politeness don't matter to anyone!"

"you!"

Jiang Guodong was a little out of control, but was pulled back by Si Nian.

"Uncle, you just got out of the hospital, calm down."

While Si Nian was comforting Jiang Guodong, he also winked at Jiang Sui.

Jiang Sui said nothing more.

The atmosphere in the living room was a little awkward for a moment.

At this time, Gu Wan suddenly ran out of the kitchen wearing an apron and said, "Lao Jiang, I forgot to buy salt. Go to the supermarket at the entrance of the community and buy some."

Jiang Sui was feeling suffocated at this time, so he stood up and said in a cold voice, "I'll go!"

Gu Wan hurriedly stopped him, "Hey, Lao Jiang, you go, the kid just got here and isn't familiar with the road."

Jiang Guodong glanced at Jiang Sui and had no choice but to stand up.

Si Nian followed suit, "I'm with uncle, so we can talk."

Soon they both went out.

The house suddenly became quiet.

"You want to tell me something alone? Go ahead!"

Jiang Sui knew that Gu Wan had deliberately sent Jiang Guodong out because he wanted to talk to her alone.

Gu Wan said nothing, went back to the bedroom, took out a file bag, and sat down on the sofa.

She hesitated for a moment and then spoke.

"I know you are hostile to me, but I have never meant to destroy your family."

Gu Wan paused and said, "Even if you can't accept me, please don't treat your father like this. It's a gift from fate that you can still see him standing in front of you now."

After saying this, Gu Wan placed the file bag in front of Jiang Sui and returned to the kitchen alone.

Jiang Sui was puzzled, but after reading the contents of the file bag, he was completely shocked.

For lunch, Gu Wan prepared a table full of sumptuous meals. She entertained Si Nian and Jiang Sui with a smile, and served food to them with serving chopsticks.

Faced with her kindness, Jiang Sui did not refuse this time, but he did not show much friendliness either.

At the dinner table, she smiled at Jiang Guodong for the first time ever, but the smile was a little stiff.

Seeing that Jiang Sui's attitude suddenly changed, Si Nian suggested after dinner that he would rush back to Shenhai overnight as he had some work to do.

After Jiang Guodong tried to persuade Jiang Sui to stay twice but to no avail, he finally looked at Jiang Sui and spoke cautiously, "Sui Sui, what about you? School hasn't started yet. If you have nothing to do, why don't you stay for a few days?"

Jiang Sui looked at Si Nian hesitantly, and Si Nian curled his lips towards her.

Gu Wan also interrupted and said, "Sui Sui, just stay a few more days and accompany your father. We have already prepared a room for you."

In the end, Jiang Sui didn't say anything, just nodded.

When Si Nian left in the evening, Jiang Sui and Jiang Guodong sent him to the taxi at the entrance of the community.

Before the taxi drove away, Jiang Sui reluctantly approached him and said, "I will be back soon, wait for me."

Si Nian nodded, and the taxi drove away.

Jiang Guodong walked to his daughter, put his hand on her shoulder, and said softly, "Let's go home."

On the way back, no one spoke at first, but then Jiang Sui suddenly said something that surprised Jiang Guodong.

She asked her father, "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"What?"

"Your disease!"

Jiang Guodong reacted and sighed, "Hey, Aunt Gu told you everything? You won't die for a while, I don't want to put pressure on you."

Jiang Sui fell silent again, her throat felt a little blocked at this moment.

It was not until today that she found out that Jiang Guodong had been ill for several years, starting before her mother became seriously ill.

And Gu Wan still chose to marry him at this time, so she had to look at this woman differently.

She has money and a career, and she takes good care of her sick father.

If Jiang Sui hadn't looked at her with tinted glasses at the beginning, he would have had to admit that Gu Wan was an amazing woman.

Jiang Sui originally wanted to stay with his father for a few days, but he didn't expect that he would stay for a whole month.

During that period, she and Gu Wan got along quite well, but she didn't have much contact with Si Nian. He had been very busy after he went back, and Jiang Sui often accompanied Jiang Guodong in and out of the hospital.

It was not until the last time the doctor said that his condition was temporarily stable that she understood what Gu Wan meant by gift.

Jiang Guodong's treatment came to a temporary end, and Jiang Sui felt relieved and began to arrange his trip back to Shenhai.

But she had to go back to school immediately after returning, and the project team's courses had to start before the official start of the school year.

When she arrived in Shenhai that day, it was Si Nian who picked her up at the airport again.

After not seeing him for a month, Jiang Sui felt that Si Nian seemed to have lost a lot of weight, and even his eye sockets had become darker.

In the car, she said angrily , "Did you miss your meal again?"

Si Nian felt helpless and amused that her girl would actually get angry with him just because he had become a little thinner.

He comforted her while driving, "I won't do that anymore. Or I'll send you a photo of my meals like I'm clocking in?"

When he said that, Jiang Sui was suddenly amused by him. She said with some satisfaction, "Okay, let's do it!"

Si Nian brought Jiang Sui back to the store first. Xiao Hai was still busy downstairs. There were customers waiting for him in the store. When he saw Jiang Sui, he could only say hello.

It was almost noon, Si Nian went into the kitchen to prepare lunch. Jiang Sui wanted to help him, but was still driven out by him.

"You're only making things worse. Go take a rest, dear!"

After being gently driven out of the kitchen by Si Nian, Jiang Sui could only sit on the sofa and browse his phone in boredom.

Suddenly, something jumped onto Jiang Sui's legs. She was startled and screamed, almost losing her phone.
