Chapter 85 Don’t Want

Jiang Sui felt that he was probably influenced by the two people in the waiting room.

Before the taxi arrived, Jiang Sui took out the key to the courtyard gate that she had been searching for for a long time at home yesterday. She didn't know if the door lock was so rusty that it couldn't be opened.

The taxi door opened and a burst of floral fragrance wafted towards me.

After getting off the car, Jiang Sui walked closer and saw that two lilac trees had appeared in front of the gate of the courtyard.

The light purple flowers are blooming in clusters.

She put her nose close to it and found that the fragrance of flowers was coming from there.

Jiang Sui looked for a while, then turned around and opened the door.

But the door was not locked, and it opened with a slight push.

Jiang Sui walked in and found that the yard was unusually clean. It was not as dilapidated and messy as he had imagined, as if it had been unattended for a long time.

Jiang Sui touched the trunk of the ginkgo tree in the center of the courtyard and suddenly remembered that he had given the key to Grandma Wang next door and asked her to help look after the courtyard.

She turned and walked towards the main house, calling out as she walked, "Grandma Wang, is that you?"

When he arrived at the main house, the door was pushed open from the inside. Jiang Sui, who was standing in front of the door, was suddenly stunned.

The tall man was wearing a black suit with the buttons unbuttoned. The suit was slightly open, revealing the clean and tidy white shirt underneath.

What was extremely inconsistent with his outfit was that he was holding a wet rag in his hand.

When he saw Jiang Sui suddenly appear, his dark eyes under his frameless glasses were stunned for a moment.

Then there was a long, silent stare, as if both of them wanted to see through the other person at a glance.

After a while, Si Nian was the first to ask Jiang Sui, "When did you come back?"

When they met again, Jiang Sui didn't know what attitude to use towards Si Nian. After all, she had said harsh words to him when she left.

We met but didn't recognize each other.

But now that they were face to face, she seemed unable to do it.

Hearing Si Nian ask her, Jiang Sui pursed her lips and answered softly, "Last year."

Her answer was brief, and his handsome eyebrows slightly frowned.

"Why haven't I heard Xiao Wen and Li Ai talk about it?"

Jiang Sui was a little surprised that he was still in contact with Xiao Wen and Li Ai.

But if you think about it carefully, given his relationship with Cui Jin and Wu Chunhao, it is normal for them to have connection.

On the contrary, she has had significantly less contact with Xiao Wen and Li Ai in the past two years.

Since she went to Canada, her contacts with Xiao Wen and her have mostly been holiday greetings, and sometimes they would chat about their current situations when they had time.

But they both tacitly kept silent about men. Jiang Sui thought that they were afraid that she would be sad when she thought of Si Nian.

"I have been preparing for work and have not told anyone."

Si Nian nodded and didn't ask any more questions.

"Why are you here? The key..."

Jiang Sui suddenly thought of this question and asked him casually while holding the key in his hand.

"Grandma Wang passed away the year before last, and I've been holding the key ever since. I come back to check on the house and do some cleaning when I have time."

"oh."

While speaking, Si Nian had already turned sideways, and Jiang Sui walked into the space he had made.

The house was the same as before, with no changes, except that it was cleaned spotlessly by Si Nian.

Jiang Sui looked at each room one by one, and Si Nian followed behind her, not too far away.

Jiang Sui picked up the photo frame in his mother's room and stroked it gently. Si Nian leaned against the door and suddenly said, "You have changed a lot."

Jiang Sui subconsciously looked down at himself after hearing these words suddenly.

Today she wore a pair of shallow-mouthed flat shoes, black skinny pants, a gray-blue over-the-knee windbreaker, and her medium-length hair was loose and fell naturally below her collarbone.

Jiang Sui slowly raised his head and looked at Si Nian, not knowing what to say, so he just pursed his lips.

Si Nian had a smile on his face, "You've grown up, and your temperament has become more mature and stable. Also, your long hair is very beautiful."

"Thanks!"

With just one sentence, filled with politeness and alienation, the smile on Si Nian's face disappeared.

Faced with his unreserved praise of her, Jiang Sui responded almost instinctively, just like she usually did when other people praised her.

However, Si Nian's gaze still made her feel a little uncomfortable.

When passing by the smallest room, Jiang Sui Wujian glanced inside and saw the quilt neatly folded on the bed.

Did he stay here all night?

Suddenly remembering the two bunches of chrysanthemums in the cemetery, Jiang Sui turned around and asked Si Nian, "Have you visited grandma and mom today?"

Si Nian casually put his hands in the pockets of his black trousers and said "hmm".

“I come to visit every year before Qingming Festival, Zhongyuan Festival and Spring Festival.”

Because he knew that in these few days, in this small courtyard, he would be able to wait for her to come one day, pretend it was an accidental encounter, and see her again, and that would be enough for him.

Jiang Sui was speechless for a moment. He, the former adopted son, was now much more filial than her, his biological daughter.

After a while, Jiang Sui whispered to him again , "Thank you!"

Si Nian was helpless. Faced with Jiang Sui repeatedly saying "thank you" to him, he had nothing to say and felt extremely sad.

It was a reaction I had expected, but it was still hard to hear.

But on second thought, it seemed good enough that she didn't really treat him as a passerby.

He raised his lips to her again and asked, "Just now you said you have been busy with work since you came back. Have you decided on a job?"

"Um."

"Where are you? Are you still working as a translator?"

"Yes, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Asian Department."

Hearing this, Si Nian was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, "Congratulations, your dream has come true."

"Thank you, but I'm still in the internship period."

Jiang Sui's lips curled slightly. This was their common ideal, but now she was getting closer step by step, while he was moving further and further away.

He asked a question and she answered it. Each sentence was very short and ended with thank you. He really didn't know what to talk to her about anymore.

I obviously have so many questions in my mind.

"How have you been these past few years? Have you ever had a boyfriend? Do you have a suitable partner to marry when you are old enough?"

But he couldn't ask any of these questions.

After hesitating for a while, Si Nian invited Jiang Sui, "It's almost noon, let's have lunch together?"

Jiang Sui glanced at his watch and shook his head, "No, I just came back to visit the graves and see you. I have an 1:00 flight back to Beijing North, so I have to go."

Jiang Sui turned and walked out. Si Nian suddenly called her from behind, "Jiang Sui!"

She stopped when she heard the voice, but did not turn back to look at Si Nian.

"Don't you even ask about my recent situation?"

Si Nian asked with difficulty, his voice slightly hoarse.

A breeze blew over, and the tender green ginkgo leaves above my head began to rustle.

Jiang Sui looked up, the midday light stung her eyes.

"In no mood."

She walked out quickly, and kept walking until she turned the corner and was blocked by the building behind her. Only then did she stop and gasp for breath.

At that moment just now, she wanted to cry again.

She hadn't cried for many years, and Si Nian seemed to be the valve that could open her tear glands, both in the past and now.

Si Nian reacted and ran out the door, but Jiang Sui was no longer visible outside.

He looked around anxiously and suddenly began to feel a splitting headache.

He put one hand on his knee and bent over to take out his cell phone to make a call.

The other end of the line was connected, and his voice was intermittent, "Come here, answer it, I'm here."

——

Jiang Sui didn't know how he got back to Jingbei from Jincheng. He felt like his soul had left his body. He walked in a light voice, as if he was floating in the clouds.

She stayed at her home in Beijing North for the next two days of the holiday and hardly even left her bedroom.

Jiang Guodong and Gu Wan were both puzzled as to why he looked so depressed after returning from the trip to Jincheng.

But they have always adhered to the idea of being open-minded parents, so if the child doesn't say anything, they won't ask. If the child speaks on her own initiative, they will be happy with her if it's good, and find ways to help her if it's not good.

Fortunately, Jiang Sui's mood only lasted for three days. Once she returned to work, she began to return to normal.

The internship period for new employees is always extremely busy and fulfilling. Not only do they have to do their own job well, but they also have to constantly ask for advice and learn from the senior employees.

The person in charge of taking care of her is a 35+ year old new mother, a top student who graduated from the China Foreign Affairs University. Her name is Xu Jie. She worked abroad for many years and was transferred back last year. She got pregnant in a hurry and gave birth to a baby.

Because the company was short of staff teaching minor languages, I came back to work before the end of my maternity leave.

Considering that Senior Xu has a baby at home, Jiang Sui would take the initiative to take on some of the work she could do, and would try to do overtime when it was necessary so that Xu Jie could go home on time to feed the child.

The company has recently been preparing the translation documents for the Afghan government's domestic bidding for projects. After the Qingming Festival, Jiang Sui has been working overtime for half a month.

Before getting off work that day, Xu Jie received a call saying that the baby at home had a fever and she needed to go back immediately.

But she had a document that needed to be delivered to an old professor at the China Foreign Affairs University after get off work. Jiang Suizuo didn't need to work overtime today, so she took the initiative to take on this task.

After leaving the office building, Jiang Sui looked at the gloomy sky outside, and his mood couldn't help but become a little gloomy.

It might rain heavily later that day, so she had to hurry.

Jiang Sui's place is a bit far from the China Foreign Affairs University.

She first took the bus, then took the subway twice, and it took her an hour and a half to get to the School of International Studies to hand the documents to the old professor.

When coming out of the old professor's office, Jiang Sui couldn't help but sigh that Beijing North City was really big. Going back and forth like this had wasted her entire night.

When we left the teaching building, thunder began to rumble in the sky and the clouds became thicker and thicker.

The weather was fine when Jiang Sui went out for work in the morning, and he did not bring an umbrella. Now seeing that a heavy rain was about to come, Jiang Sui did not care too much and ran towards the gate of the college as soon as he got out of the building, thinking that he could just hold on until he got to the gate of the college and catch a taxi.

But unexpectedly, the rain seemed to be falling specifically for her. Before she ran far, the raindrops as big as beans hit her.

She ran for a while in the rain and finally arrived at the college gate.

When she hid in the doorway, the rain really started to fall.

The rain fell down diagonally like a heavy rain, hitting the ground and creating a layer of wisp of mist.

Jiang Sui lowered her head to shake off the raindrops that were still on her body. In just a short while, she became damp from head to toe. The wet bangs stuck to her cheeks, making her feel uncomfortable.

She raised her hand to gather her wet bangs and hooked them behind her ears.

Fortunately, she tied her hair into a bun at the back of her head today. If it was let down, she would look even more embarrassed now.

As she was thinking this, she suddenly felt a person standing beside her. He was tall and made the already dark doorway seem even darker.

She turned her head and met his scrutinizing gaze.

"Why are you here?"

Si Nian put away the wet umbrella and asked her.

He knew that neither her workplace nor her home was close to here, so she wouldn't just wander around and end up here.

Jiang Sui retracted his somewhat surprised look and said calmly, "I'm here to deliver the information for my colleague."

"oh."

I didn't know what to say next. Both of them tacitly kept silent. The sound of raindrops falling on the ground was all I could hear.
