Chapter 10 Plunge

Emily began to tumbled down. In that moment, she felt like crying desperately.

"Bang!" Emily's head collided with the wall, abruptly halting her rolling. By the time the bodyguard caught up, she had already fainted.

James looked at the documents, becoming more and more irritated as he read on. He was about to stand up and find Emily.

He wanted to see what this woman was up to!

As soon as he opened the door, Joseph's knocking hand almost hit James's head.

"What's the matter?" James's face darkened, his chilling aura making Joseph shiver.

"Madam fainted after falling down the stairs."

James's expression twitched slightly, his thin lips pressed together without uttering a word, as he walked towards the elevator.

Emily lay pale on the bed, the blood stains on her forehead standing out starkly against her porcelain skin. Joseph had already called the doctor, who was now tending to her wounds.

About ten minutes later, the doctor finished packing up and came out.

"The wound should not be touched with water. If she feels dizzy tomorrow, I recommend going to the hospital for further examination."

"Okay," James replied calmly, then went inside. Joseph escorted the doctor out.

Staring at the woman lying on the bed, James's eyebrows furrowed tightly.

In his memory, Emily was a cautious and submissive woman, always fawning over him.

After five years and after her "death," this woman completely changed her character. She dared to confront him and became quite eloquent. Today, she has driven him to the point of dizziness.

Suddenly, Emily's eyelids twitched and slowly opened.

She looked ahead in confusion, with a blankness in her mind, and then all her memories surged back.

Oh, right, she wanted to see James, but James didn't want to see her, so she ran away.

After going through all of this, she also knew that she couldn't temporarily escape from America, so she thought of pretending to run away, causing a scene, and maybe James would see her. But she accidentally stepped on empty space and tumbled down the stairs.

"If you had any ability, you would have killed yourself. I've said it before, no matter where you escape to, I can find you."

James’s cold voice entered her ears, and Emily's breathing stagnated for a moment. She turned her head and coldly looked at the tall man standing by the bed.

"You want me dead so badly?"

She didn't know why she blurted out this question, but in that moment, her eyes suddenly felt a little sour.

This was the man she had liked so much in the past, so heartless and ruthless!

Because of him five years ago, she fell into depression. She spent five years healing herself and forgetting him, but she never expected to meet him again.

Clearly, he had wanted to bring her back to his country, but he still despised the fact that she hadn't died.

Listening to her words, James's eyebrows furrowed even deeper, and he coldly snorted, "Whether you live or die has nothing to do with me, but before you die, it's best to think about those who care about you."

"You already said that my life or death has nothing to do with you, so why do you insist on bringing me back to your country?" With one sentence, she shut James up.

James's temples throbbed again, and impatience appeared in his deep eyes. He felt that if he said a few more words to her, it would surely shorten his lifespan.

"If you still have a conscience, behave yourself and come back with me to atone, otherwise... I don't mind tying you up and taking you back."

Before Emily could say anything else, James lifted his long legs and walked away.

After James left, Emily held onto the blanket and thought for a long time, the only thing that came to mind was Mrs. Anderson.

Was James planning to have her go back and apologize to Mrs. Anderson?

When her family encountered trouble, her mother was forced to commit suicide by the creditors, and then her father couldn't bear it and committed suicide in prison. When she was left all alone and helpless, it was Mrs. Anderson who brought her to the Anderson Family, fulfilling the betrothal arranged between the two families and organizing her wedding with James.

Mrs. Anderson treated her like a granddaughter, considering her in everything, and knowing that she liked James, she created opportunities for her at every turn.

Unfortunately, in the end, she still couldn't move James heart.

Madam must be very sad to hear about her "death," and she didn't know how her health had been these past five years.

How are you feeling? Are you still strong and healthy, she wondered.

Emily stopped causing trouble and the question she wanted to ask seemed less important now. However, she didn't have to wait long for the answer as Joseph brought it to her.

"These are the replacement documents, madam. Please bear with it for one more day. Once the boss finishes handling matters here, he will return to the country tomorrow." Joseph glanced at Emily's bandaged forehead.

"I understand, don't worry. I value my life and won't cause any more trouble."

"That's good. I'll go back to work then." Joseph was about to leave.

"Wait."

Emily called him back, and Joseph turned around, looking puzzled. "Do you need anything else?"

"How is Madam doing now? Is she in good health?" she asked curiously.

Having followed James for so many years, Joseph should be aware of James's family situation.

"Ever since Madam heard of your death, her health has been deteriorating. She has to take medication every day and sometimes goes to the hospital." Emily's heart weighed even heavier.

Seeing Emily's haggard face and reddened eyes, Joseph softened and comforted her, "Madam would be very happy if she knew you were still alive."

Emily could hear the consolation in his words but managed to lift the corners of her mouth slightly. "Thank you."

...

While the meal was being served, Emily seized the opportunity to borrow a phone from a waiter again and learned that Vincent had already picked up the two children, which made her feel more relieved.

The next morning, Emily went to the airport with James. In the VIP lounge, Emily sat far away from James while he worked on his laptop. Meanwhile, Emily was lost in her thoughts.

Suddenly, James's phone rang, and he glanced at it before answering. Seeing the cold and emotionless man in front of her, without a trace of tenderness, turn into a softer version when he received the call, Emily felt as if a gentle breeze had melted the ice, and there was a hint of warmth in his tone as he spoke to Eva.

"Yes, I'm at the airport. Okay, tell him to take it easy on the iPad..."

He's talking so gently. It must be Eva calling. Emily looked at her own toes, thinking about how she would face those things after returning to the country.

After hanging up the phone, James glanced at Emily, who had been lost in her thoughts the whole time. For some unknown reason, he felt a slight tightness in his chest, and he became a bit irritable when handling his work.

It was Eva who called him, and Sam was also beside her listening.

Ten minutes later, Emily boarded the plane behind James.

...

It took a lot of effort to soothe Isabella, but finally, the two children sat obediently on the plane and returned to their home country. As soon as they landed, they saw Uncle Vincent.

Vincent lifted Isabella up and ruffled Ben's hair, his handsome face filled with affection.

"It's been a long time. Ben and Isabella have grown taller."

Isabella pouted, looking as if she might burst into tears.

"Godfather, I miss mommy."

"Mommy will come to accompany Isabella in a few days. Can Isabella go home with godfather for now?"

Isabella pouted dissatisfiedly, but her brother said that mommy had encountered some trouble, so they had to temporarily separate from her. If she didn't behave, she would only cause more trouble for mommy.

Although she really missed mommy, she didn't want to add to mommy's troubles, so she had no choice but to nod.

"Okay, I will go to godfather's house with my brother."

"Good girl." Vincent kissed Isabella on the cheek, freeing one hand to hold Ben's hand, and then went to get their luggage.

The handsome man held a cute girl in one arm, pushed the luggage with one hand, and there was also an adorable child holding onto the suitcase. The trio were all very eye-catching, especially with the man appearing strong.

Along the way, they attracted a lot of attention from people. As soon as Vincent came back, he cooked for the two children. He was busy in the kitchen, while Ben leaned against the doorframe.

"Godfather, can I go to your study to read?"

"Yes, you can go, I will call you when the food is ready."

Ben immediately grabbed Isabella and went to Vincent's study and closed the door, but instead of reading, he turned on Vincent's computer.

"Brother, what are you going to do?"

"Just checking where mommy is now."

Isabella immediately fell silent, sitting obediently on the side, her cute big eyes fixed on the computer, feeling very worried about mommy.

A few minutes later, Ben, whose face resembled James's, looked serious as he told Isabella.

"Mommy should arrive tomorrow."
