Isabella, who was watching cartoons at home, suddenly sneezed, prompting Mary to reach out and touch her forehead.
"No fever."
Isabella sweetly said, "Mary, I'm fine. It's just that my nose suddenly felt itchy, so I sneezed."
Mary smiled and pinched her adorable cheeks. "Maybe your mommy is thinking of you."
"Mommy definitely misses me." Isabella raised her chin stubbornly.
Soon after, Isabella heard the sound of keys opening the door. Mary knew that Emily had returned and quickly went to greet her.
"Emily."
Emily tidied herself up in the car, so Mary couldn't tell anything. She glanced at Mary and asked, "Where's Ben?"
"He's sleeping."
Ben walked out from behind his mommy, drooping his little head and lethargically calling out, "Mary."
"Huh? Ben, aren't you supposed to be sleeping? How come you're with your mommy?" Mary widened her eyes in surprise.
Emily led Ben inside, closed the door, and a few minutes later, the two children obediently stood in front of Emily, looking like they had done something wrong.
Isabella looked to Mary for help, but Mary couldn't do anything. After all, both of them had fooled her too.
"Mommy, I'm sorry." Ben was the first to admit his mistake, with a positive and sincere attitude.
Emily sighed. "Mommy isn't forbidding you from going out to play. It's just that you can't go out alone. What if you encounter a bad person?"
She would never forget the incident two years ago when Isabella sneaked out to play and almost got abducted.
Ben also thought of this, his little face turning slightly pale. Back then, mommy had been desperately searching for his sister, crying and searching while tightly holding onto him.
"I'm sorry, mommy. I worried you."
Isabella also quickly apologized, "Sorry, mommy. Isabella was naughty."
Emily looked at these two adorable and sensible children and hugged them both, giving each of them a kiss.
"Remember, no matter what happens, mommy will be by your side to protect you. If you want to go somewhere or do something in the future, you can tell mommy, and mommy will take you there."
The two children obediently nodded their heads.
Mary watched this scene with satisfaction. Fortunately, she hadn't scolded the children, she was prepared to stop them.
"Mommy is off tomorrow. How about going out to play?"
The two children widened their big round eyes. Isabella happily clapped her hands first, "Really? Mommy, where are you taking us?"
"How about going on a trip?"
"Yay, yay!" Isabella was extremely excited, and Ben smiled too.
It had been six months since they last went on a trip with their mommy. She had been too busy during these past six months.
Emily packed their luggage overnight with the two children, but when she tried to purchase the plane tickets, she was prompted with an error message.
"Mary, I can't buy...
"No plane tickets." Emily was full of doubts, wondering why it suddenly became like this.
"Let me check." Mary took the phone and tried to place the order again, but still couldn't do it. She thought for a moment. "We can only call tomorrow morning. Emily, you look tired, get some rest."
Emily frowned. Her sixth sense told her that this matter was not simple.
It was true that she was taking a day off tomorrow and planned to take the children on a trip on a whim. But it was too coincidental. She had just met James today and now she couldn't buy plane tickets.
Emily remembered James's words when he left, and her eyes widened suddenly.
No way, in just five years, has James's influence grown so much? He can even get involved with the aviation industry in America?
If that's the case, according to James's methods, he should soon find out about the existence of the two children. What if he comes to take the children away? What are her chances of winning?
Regardless of the odds, she definitely did not want to see this situation and did not want to take any risks. So she had to find a way to keep James from finding out.
Emily grabbed Mary's hand.
"Mary, help me with something."
Mary was a little nervous by Emily's serious expression and swallowed her saliva. "You tell me."
"Help me erase all traces of the children's lives."
"Okay."
Mary didn't know why Emily wanted to do this, and it was clearly not the time to ask. Emily had been preoccupied since she came back.
The two of them were talking in the living room, unaware that a small figure was quietly opening a crack in the door, listening to their conversation.
Ben quietly closed the door again and then took out an iPad from the drawer. The light emitted by the iPad in the darkness illuminated his small, innocent face.
It would be difficult for Mary, with her abilities, to erase the traces of him and his sister's lives. So he wanted to help Mary.
Mommy must be doing this to protect them.
Half an hour later, Ben put down the iPad and lay back down. Shortly after, Emily came in.
Emily had a sleepless night. When it was time for work the next day, she quickly made a phone call to inquire, only to be told that she was restricted from leaving the country.
"It must be James!" Emily fell back on the sofa, gritting her teeth and cursing James.
Mary didn't leave last night because it was too late. When she heard Emily mention this name, her eyes lit up.
"You mean James, the richest man in the UK?"
"Do you know him?" Emily looked at Mary with confusion.
Mary, a Chinese neighbor from her previous residence, had gradually become her best friend due to their shared interests.
Mary's eyes shimmered with admiration.
"I have seen him in various financial reports. He is not only the richest man in the UK, but also has considerable influence in America. It is said that he often dines with the president. Emily, are you connected to this individual?"
"Does James know?" Emily asked.
Emily had not expected James's power in M country to far exceed her imagination. She shook her head and said, "No, I don't know him."
Mary didn't know Emily's story, and she didn't want to bring up those past events again.
Mary was quite disappointed.
"I'll go and ask what's going on. You haven't done anything illegal, so why are they restricting your travel?"
"There's no need to ask. I probably know what's going on."
Emily didn't want to trouble her friend anymore. Since she couldn't buy a plane ticket, she would simply not leave the country. She could still drive to other places.
...
Inside the most luxurious hotel in the capital of M country, James couldn't sleep all night. The fact that Emily was still alive had a great impact on him, and it took him the whole night to digest it.
The next morning, Joseph appeared with some documents.
"Boss, these are the documents about the missus."
Joseph had also just recovered from the shock. He had already seen these documents and couldn't help but sigh in his heart. Without the boss, the missus was really living a carefree life.
The current Aria was very different from the past Emily.
The previous Emily had James in her heart and mind, but the current Aria was fully focused on her career.
After James finished reading, he coldly laughed and threw the documents on the coffee table.
"She has been living a carefree and indulgent life for these past five years. She is partially to blame for what Sam has become."
Thinking of the young master, Joseph couldn't help but feel that the missus had gone too far.
Joseph's phone rang, and he went outside to answer it for a minute before hurriedly coming back in.
"Boss, the missus is missing."
James's face darkened, a storm brewing in his deep eyes. He immediately stood up and commanded firmly, "Find her!"
No matter what, this time he would absolutely not let Emily disappear again.
