Chapter 4 I’ll help you

Raegan didn’t mention it, but Mitchel Johnson did indeed give her money—not in cash, but with a card. A black card, the kind with no spending limit.

In her previous life, she despised Mitchel Johnson so much that even though he gave her a black card, she never spent a cent of his money.

"...Yes", Olivia naturally assumed Raegan was planning for her future elopement with James, though she was far from eager to agree with Raegan’s reasoning.

"Olivia, are you unwilling to return my things?" Raegan asked sincerely, her clear eyes free of any impurity, causing Olivia to feel guilty.

But Olivia quickly remembered that Raegan's elopement would inevitably fail, and Raegan was so foolish, and thought that Mitchel Johnson would continue buying countless expensive items for her. When Raegan falls to her lowest, Olivia could simply sweet-talk her into giving her the items again. With this in mind, Olivia felt at ease.

"No, Raegan, don’t worry. I’ll help you. I’ve kept everything you gave me safe and sound. If you need them, I’ll give them all back."

Raegan found this amusing. These were her stuff to begin with, but Olivia spoke as if she was being generous. However, Raegan didn’t expose her.

"Alright, there’s no time to waste. I’ll send a car to your house right now to collect everything. Olivia, don’t forget that Dior dress you’re wearing. Even as a second-hand item, it’s worth a few thousand dollars. And those skincare products, makeup, lipsticks—everything. I’ll make a list, so we don’t miss a single thing. I’m relying on these to get by."

Raegan wasted no time. She quickly made a list of everything she had given Olivia over the past year, down to the last lip balm, and then instructed Mr. Ford to send a car over…

"Mr. Ford, there’s a lot of stuff. Arrange for a couple of cars to go over and have a few maids assist, so Olivia doesn't get tired, okay?"

Despite her reluctance, Olivia was practically shoved into the car by Raegan. Mr. Ford took the list Raegan had written and followed her instructions,

"Make sure nothing is left behind. Bring everything back."

Although Mr. Ford didn’t understand why Mrs. Johnson was doing this, he knew it was about reclaiming what was theirs, so he took the task very seriously.

"Don’t worry, madam. I'll see to it that everything is returned."

---

In the HX president’s office, a stern man was going through some documents in the spacious room.

His phone vibrated on the dark gray desk, and Mitchel Johnson glanced at it.

A text message had come in:

"Sir, Raegan told me this morning that she’s already arranged to meet with James tomorrow to plan their next elopement. She’s also planning to sell all the gifts you gave her to fund it.

Sir, I’ve tried to talk some sense into her, but Raegan won’t listen. Sir, I understand your feelings for her, so I’ve been trying to help. I hope you’ll win Raegan’s love soon."

A dark look flickered in Mitchel Johnson’s eyes. He called Mrs. Hughes, and the answer he received matched Olivia’s report.

The two women had been whispering together in the dining room for a while, and then Mr. Ford was sent to Olivia’s house to collect some things.

"What is Raegan doing now?" he asked.

Mrs. Hughes looked over from a distance and replied, "The lady is feeding the fish in the garden."

Mitchel Johnson found this odd. Since she was married into the family, there hadn't been any fish in the garden pond. Per her instructions, they were replaced with maggots

"Piranhas?"

"No, no. The madam said the maggots were too disgusting and had the servants flush them away, then replaced them with clear water and stocked it with dozens of goldfish."

Mitchel Johnson frowned. What is she planning now?

---

In the garden, Raegan felt relieved to see the clear water in the pond and the goldfish swimming around. It helped her suppress the disgust she felt earlier when she saw the pond teeming with maggots.

Previously, in her bid to divorce Mitchel Johnson, she had pulled every stunt imaginable. Seeing those maggots writhing in the water made her skin crawl, and she nearly threw up the breakfast she’d just eaten. She even wanted to slap herself.

Looking up, she noticed the garden’s trees, flowers, and greenery were all adorned with creepy dolls.

The beautiful mansion had been turned into a haunted house, all thanks to her previous antics.

"Throw away all those disgusting things. They’re terrifying to look at."

To someone who didn’t know better, it would seem like they had entered a horror theme park.

Raegan pulled down the creepy doll hanging on the tree trunk and stuffed it into the trash. The maids, who had been hesitant, quickly began to clean up once they saw her actions.

Mitchel Johnson must really love her, given that he never lost his cool even after she completely turned his house upside down like this.

After getting rid of the creepy doll, Raegan noticed that the swing in the garden wasn’t a swing at all but two ghostly dolls hanging from it.

Raegan walked over and forcefully pulled down the two dolls, handing them to the maids behind her,

"Throw them away, all of them. I’m going back inside to rest. Mrs. Hughes, make sure the house is thoroughly cleaned. Restore it to how it was before, okay?"

Although she couldn’t quite remember how the villa looked before, given Mitchel Johnson’s taste and style, it must have been a luxurious work of art.

The servants in the garden were overjoyed.

Since the madam had moved in a year ago, they had been on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Thank God, they were finally free from this inhumane torture.

By noon, the car Mr. Ford had sent to collect the items returned. Raegan didn’t see Olivia, who was likely sulking at home.

"Madam, what should we do with these items?"

Raegan had initially just wanted Olivia to return them, but seeing them now, knowing they had been used by Olivia so many times, she felt repulsed.

"Mr. Ford, is there a second-hand market nearby? I’d like to sell all of these things."

Mr. Ford hesitated before responding, "Yes, but sir has instructed us that you’re not allowed to go out."
