Chapter 5 My New Wife is My Admin Assistant?(2)

And not just any admin assistant—she had applied to be his admin assistant.

Everyone knows what it means to be the CEO’s admin assistant!

He concluded in his mind, “Ah, so that’s why she didn’t react when she found out I am blind and living in a rental. She has been looking for a rich man all along.”

“Lilith is the most competent,” Ava quickly suggested. “She’s been the CEO’s admin assistant before.”

Damian’s long fingers tapped Stella’s profile.

“This one.”

Ava was shocked when he saw who Damian had chosen.

It was Stella!

“Mr. Clark, Stella graduated from an arts college. She’s only been with the company for a year and isn’t very familiar with the job. Her skills don’t compare to Lilith’s…”

“If she’s that incompetent, why is she still in the department?” Damian asked, his tone icy.

Ava’s lips trembled, and he visibly flinched.

“It’s not that she’s incompetent. She’s got her strengths. I just thought Lilith might be a better fit.”

Damian slid the file aside, expressionless. He didn’t need to say more.

Ava understood. The decision had been made.

“Understood, Mr. Clark. I’ll notify her immediately.” Ava left with the files.

In the admin assistants’ office, Lilith was busy reading up on Damian. Due to her work, she had managed to get some information from the company’s contacts abroad. It had taken a lot of effort, but she finally had some background on him.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

Everyone looked up to see Ava standing in the doorway, wearing a serious expression. His gaze shifted from Lilith to Stella.

“Stella, Mr. Clark has chosen you as his admin assistant”

Lilith’s face was a mask of disbelief.

Stella didn’t even comprehend what she had just heard. “M-me?”

“Yes, you.”

“So, when… when do I start?”

“Right now!” Ava replied before turning and leaving.

Candy, one of the other secretaries, leaned in, her tone playful. “Wow, Stella, Mr. Clark really picked you! You’re going to make 6K a month now!”

Stella was in a daze, thinking, “Have I really become Mr. Clark’s admin assistant? With a 6K monthly salary?”

“Why me?” she whispered to Candy.

She knew she couldn’t compete with Lilith in any way, so she wondered how she had ended up as Damian’s secretary.

“You’re sweet and gentle, and you’ve got a kind heart. Just look at Lilith—her face is all sharp angles and bitterness. If I were Mr. Clark, I wouldn’t choose her either!”

Candy shot a glance at Lilith, who had always been arrogant, relying on her experience and education. Candy had never liked her.

“Stella! What are you waiting for? Get to Mr. Clark’s office!” Ava called out.

Stella exchanged a nervous glance with Candy, stuck out her tongue, and hurried to Damian’s office.

Standing outside the door, Stella suddenly felt her breath quicken, her palms sweating.

She had been working in the Office Services department for a while but had never been assigned to a specific executive. This was her first time serving as an admin assistant, and it was for the CEO no less.

Of course she was nervous.

She took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

“Come in,” came a low, commanding voice.

Stella walked in cautiously, approaching the desk.

“Mr. Clark, hello. I’m your new admin assistant, Stella.”

“Hmm,” Damian responded without looking up from his paperwork.

He didn’t speak again, continuing to focus on the documents in front of him.

Stella stood there, too scared to even lift her head.

The atmosphere was thick with tension, so quiet it was suffocating. Stella didn’t dare take a deep breath.

Her legs began to ache from standing so rigidly.

Finally, Damian looked up, his gaze sharp. “Are you stupid, standing there unresponsive all the time?”

“W-what?” Stella stammered, finally daring to lift her head.

And that’s when she got her first clear look at Damian’s face.
