Chapter 7 Forced Kiss

Evelyn continued, voice cold. “And, I was just telling the truth.”

“Just telling the truth?” Ethan’s face darkened as he stared at her. “So, should I call your father and let him know what’s going on between us?”

Evelyn’s father, James Moore, had been in poor health lately. The doctor said he shouldn’t be subjected to any shocks. Evelyn had planned to divorce Ethan first and then slowly break the news to her father.

She glared at Ethan. “How dare you! You were the one who cheated first. What right do you have to threaten me?”

Ethan’s fists clenched at his sides.

“I’ve already promised you it won’t happen again. If you don’t want to see Delilah, I’ll fire her. What more do you want?”

Evelyn felt like she couldn’t communicate with him. She averted her eyes and said, “I don’t want to argue with you here. In no way would I forgive you.”

Betrayal was the last thing she would tolerate. She couldn’t pretend nothing had happened, and there was no way they could reconcile.

Ethan knew Evelyn’s temper, and given that he was in the wrong, he realized he would have to take things slowly.

He knew Evelyn still had feelings for him, and as long as he didn’t agree to the divorce, he believed that one day she would forgive him.

“Fine, let’s not talk about this anymore. If you don’t want to have a child, we’ll postpone it for a couple of years. Since you want to work, I’ll have my secretary arrange a position for you at Montgomery Group tomorrow.”

Hearing his arrangement, Evelyn couldn’t help but laugh, her expression full of mockery as she looked at him.

“Ethan, do you think I’m not a person? Am I just a puppet for you to control as you please? I don’t want to have a child because I want to divorce you. I want to work so I can completely cut ties with you.” Evelyn sneered.

Ethan looked down at Evelyn, her stubborn expression displeasing him.

Since their marriage, Evelyn had been like a canary he kept in a gilded cage. There was no way he would let her fly out of his grasp!

“You know, as long as I don’t agree, this divorce won’t happen. You can try if you don’t believe it.”

His tone was confident, and he even exuded an air of arrogance as if he had everything under control.

Evelyn involuntarily took a few steps back, her whole body trembling with anger.

It was only after tearing down Ethan’s gentle facade that she realized just how selfish and repulsive he was at his core. And she had loved this man for eight years.

“Ethan, you disgust me!”

Seeing the undisguised disgust in her eyes, Ethan’s pupils contracted sharply. He reached out and grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him.

“Eve, I understand that you’re angry, but I don’t want to hear that from you again.”

Even if he had made a mistake, he wouldn’t allow her to look at him with such disdain.

Evelyn slapped his hand away in disgust. “Don’t touch me. You’re filthy!”

“Filthy?” Ethan let out a cold laugh, stepping forward to hook an arm around her waist, pinning her against the pillar of the pavilion before leaning down to kiss her.

Since she only wanted to say things he didn’t want to hear, he might as well shut her up.

Evelyn couldn’t push him away, instinctively turning her head to the side.

Ethan’s warm lips landed on her cheek, making her skin crawl with revulsion.

“Ethan, let go of me!”

“You’re still my wife. Why should I let go?”

He gripped her chin again, kissing her hard.

“Let go! I don’t want to live as your wife anymore!”

“Still thinking about divorce? How wishful thinking!"

His domineering attitude only fueled Evelyn’s anger. She struggled fiercely, pushing him away, but he refused to let go, cornering her until she had nowhere left to retreat.

Evelyn Moore’s eyes turned red with emotion. She struggled, trying to avoid his kiss.

Amid the chaos and tugging, she didn’t notice the step behind her. Her foot slipped—she was about to fall! Yet, the pain she expected never came.

Instead, she fell into a warm embrace.

Evelyn froze. She looked up in shock—and met Adrian Montgomery’s flawless face.

He held her firmly by the waist. It was him who had caught her! Realizing this sent Evelyn’s heart into disarray.

Ethan reached out to pull Evelyn back into his arms, but the moment he saw Adrian Montgomery, his body stiffened. His face turned dark with fury.

“Uncle, what do you think you’re doing?” Ethan’s voice was laced with hostility. His eyes burned with rage as he looked at the ambiguous pose between Adrian and Evelyn—he looked like he wanted to tear them apart.

“Let go of her! Uncle, don’t forget—Evelyn Moore is my wife!” Ethan growled through gritted teeth.

Adrian didn’t even look at him. Instead, he lowered his gaze to Evelyn and asked softly,

“Do you want to go with him?”

His slender hand was still resting at her waist. The warmth of his palm made her tremble slightly, Evelyn’s mind in turmoil. That night’s passionate memory flashed through her mind once more…

“No.” Evelyn shot a cold glance at Ethan and shook her head.

“Evelyn Moore!” Ethan was about to explode.

"Then come with me, what do you say?" Adrian asked with a cocky smile, raising an eyebrow. Despite his playful expression, his words carried an unmistakable command.

That one sentence left both Evelyn and Ethan stunned!
