Chapter 9 Filled with Hatred

The notification from the phone on the table brought her back to reality.

Zoey opened it and took a look. It was a message from Howard, asking her to meet at a nearby cafe at noon.

He seemed to be very good at pretending and knew that if it were for a one-shot battle, he would definitely not be a match for Wyatt.

Therefore, he set his sights on her. Even with just a few words, he would display his gentleness to the extreme, making her wholeheartedly become a chess piece in his hands.

Yesterday, Ashley had just come. The next day, she received a text message from him. Only a ghost would believe that nothing was going on between the two of them.

When she thought about how she had been fooled by these two people without knowing it, Zoey wanted to slap herself.

"Whose message?"

"Trash text messages, especially annoying."

Looking at Zoey's vivid expression that did not hide her dislike, the darkness in Wyatt's eyes dissipated a lot.

Although Zoey did not want to see Howard, she still wanted to see what he was scheming. After Wyatt went to the company, she slowly drove over.

……

In the coffee shop, Howard sat by the window, his eyes showing a bit of impatience.

He had been waiting here for half an hour and had not even seen Zoey. In the past, she would rush over excitedly when she received his message.

He couldn't help but guess, could it be that what Ashley told him last night was true? Did Zoey know something?

"That's impossible. That incident back then was extremely secretive. Almost all the evidence was destroyed. Even Wyatt had to spend a lot of effort to investigate..."

"What effort?"

A faint voice sounded. Howard was shocked.

He turned around and saw Zoey behind him.

She had fresh bun hair today and wore a cream-white Chanel-style suit. The pearl earrings accentuated her small face, making her face look like an egg that had been peeled off its shell.

"Zoey..."

Howard's eyes lit up, “I thought last time I asked you out make you hurt. Fortunately, you are fine. Otherwise, I would have died of guilt."

As he spoke, he stood up and pulled the chair across from her in a very gentlemanly manner. His smile was elegant and polite, and the expression of concern in his eyes did not seem fake at all.

Zoey sneered in her heart.

If she did not know his true face, she might still be deceived by him to the end.

The love of the past had gone by all the conspiracies were uncovered, and there was no crush left, only hatred.

"It's none of your faults. After all, no one knows why it is so coincidental. You just asked me to go out and I met the robbers halfway. The robber neither be lustful nor want money. It seems that he just wants to hurt people."

It was clearly a calm tone, but it was as if she was hiding a knife.

Howard's eyes flashed. He grabbed her wrist and looked like he was heartbroken because of being misunderstood, “Zoey... Do you think that... those robbers were sent by me?"

"Of course, I won't think that way." Zoey narrowed her eyes and tried her best to maintain her smile.

"That's good." Howard suppressed the uneasiness in his heart and sighed sadly, "Recently, I don't know why, but Tanner family has been suppressed by the Windsor’s in the business field these days and several cooperation projects have been taken away."

Zoey lowered her eyes and stirred the coffee in front of her. When she heard this, her eyes were filled with ridicule,

‘What a joke, with Wyatt's ability, would he need to compete with others for the project?

He, Howard, was too arrogant.’

"For this, I haven't slept for several days..." He then changed the topic, "I heard that Wyatt was satisfied with a piece of land and intends to bid for it?"

Not only did he fail to severely injure Wyatt last time, but he also didn't even have the chance to get that important project. He had wasted all his efforts in vain. It was simply annoyed!

"I don't know." Zoey slowly pulled her hand out.
