Chapter 1050 Wendy Could Greatly Liven up the Atmosphere

The next day, at Wesley's apartment.

After breakfast, Wesley checked the schedule and saw that all the important matters had been arranged for the afternoon.

He saw the bag on the tea table, which contained Gavin's wedding suit.

He picked up the bag, and took the suit to the hospital so that Gavin could try it on.

Since Gavin got sick, he had lost a lot of weight. Although the suit had been altered, it was hard to guarantee that the suit would fit him.

Only when Gavin tried it on could the final decision on the suit be made.

In the past few days, Gavin's condition improved by leaps and bounds. Compared with before, when he only wanted to lie in bed, now he wanted to see more of the scenery outside, so he took Wendy downstairs for breakfast. When he returned to the ward, he came across Wesley.

Coincidentally, Wendy also felt that the bag in Wesley's hand was such a contrast to his temperament. She could not help being curious. "Boss Hayes, what's in your bag?"

Wesley said casually, "Something for someone else."

Judging from the appearance of the bag, Wendy could not tell what was inside. Also, Wesley's words drove her curiosity away. She smiled brightly and said, "Let's go upstairs."

As soon as the three of them returned to the top floor, Noah suddenly appeared and called Wendy away.

Of course, it was Wesley's idea.

When they needed Wendy to be out of the way, Noah would always be the best excuse. As long as it was Noah, she would follow him obediently.

Only Wesley and Gavin were left in the spacious and bright corridor.

Gavin pushed the door open and said to Wesley, "Let's go in."

Wesley replied with a "hmm" and entered the suite. He handed the bag directly to Gavin and said, "Try it on first. If it doesn't fit you, there is still time to alter it."

Gavin took the bag and looked at it. A smile suddenly appeared on his lips, and he walked into the bathroom briskly.

He had fantasized about his wedding with Wendy, and he had even thought that he would be involved in every detail of the wedding preparations.

However, the disease had deprived him of the ability to be involved, so he could only leave everything to others.

Although Joanne and Wesley would update him from time to time about how the wedding preparations were coming along and he was also happy to hear it, he always found it a little unreal.

Until today, when he held the suit he would wear on the wedding day and tried it on, he finally felt that he was going to marry Wendy.

Since Gavin got sick, he had lost a lot of weight. Fortunately, the designer made some alterations to his original size, so it fitted him perfectly.

Gavin looked at himself in the mirror and the broad smile on his lips was very obvious.

He was eagerly looking forward to the ceremony, rather than the arrival of the New Year.

After trying the suit on, Gavin quickly took it off and put it back in the bag. Then, he took the bag out and handed it to Wesley. "It's the right size. No need to alter it."

Wesley took the bag and checked the time. "I still have something to do, so I'll leave first."

When Gavin woke up today, he had a talk with Brian on the phone. Brian told him that on his wedding day, Rowdy was going to attack Wesley.

However, in order to protect Yuna and Kim, Wesley did not intend to fortify his defense.

Gavin looked at Wesley, thought for a moment, and told him, "Be careful."

"Don't worry." Wesley knew what Gavin meant. He said indifferently, "I can deal with Rowdy."

Gavin patted Wesley on the shoulder and squeezed it hard. "I've always believed in you."

When Wendy came back after her talk with Noah, Wesley was no longer in the ward. She was confused and asked, "Boss Hayes left so soon?"

Gavin acted as if nothing had happened and said lightly, "Yes, he just came round to check on me. He didn't intend to stay here."

Wendy replied with an "Oh" and tilted her head. "Okay."

At this time, there was a sudden knock on the door.

Wendy asked, "Huh? Is Boss Hayes back again?"

Gavin thought that it could not be Wesley, but he did not refute Wendy directly. He just said, "Open the door and you'll find out."

Wendy ran over to open the door. Before she could call out Wesley's name, Dolly's face, whom she had not seen for a long time, came into view.

She could not believe her eyes. She was stunned at first, and then she came to her senses, threw herself into Dolly's arms and cried out excitedly, "Mom!"

Dolly had expected this reaction from Wendy, so she was calm. She hugged her and said, "Mom is back."

Gavin was also surprised when he saw Dolly outside the door. But he soon realized that Dolly should have rushed back to attend the wedding.

After Wendy decided to marry Gavin, she called Dolly in person and informed her about her decision.

But she did not tell Dolly that she would marry Gavin during the Spring Festival.

However, Joanne should be happy to help her forward the news.

Therefore, Wendy also guessed why Dolly was back. However, she thought that Gavin did not know about this secret, so she did not dare to say it out loud. She could only ask suggestively, "Mom, did you come back for the Spring Festival?"

Dolly understood Wendy's implication. She smiled and nodded. "Yes." After a pause, she added, "Besides, your father will also come over to celebrate the Spring Festival with us. Otherwise, he will be too lonely if he is left alone in Austrilia."

Wendy's eyes sparkled in delight. She could not help nodding repeatedly. "Great! I'll pick him up when Dad arrives at the airport!"

"Take it easy. Your dad won't be here until New Year's Eve, and..."

During the conversation, Dolly and Wendy had been standing at the door of the suite. After a while, Gavin finally could not stand it anymore. He called out to Wendy and said, "Don't stand at the door. Come in."

Only then did Wendy realize that she and Dolly were still standing at the door. She quickly pulled Dolly into the suite, and then ran back to the room to pour water for Dolly.

Only Gavin and Dolly were left in the spacious living room.

Gavin was in a hospital gown. He looked a little haggard, but his eyes were still calm and his profile was as sharp and handsome as before.

He looked at Dolly and tried to break the silence. He said politely, "Thank you for all the trouble you've taken."

In the past few months, Dolly had been looking for doctors for him outside. She had obviously lost weight, and her face was tanned.

Although Dolly had not found a cure for him, she had helped him a lot.

Anyway, Dolly's perseverance was one of the reasons why Gavin was unwilling to give up on his life.

Therefore, he should thank Dolly for all the trouble she had taken.

Dolly shook her head and looked at Gavin with a soft look, filled with pity. "It's not troublesome at all. Gavin, I'm willing to do my best for you."

Every day now was the last chance for Gavin to live. She had to help him seize this opportunity well.

Gavin obviously had a lot to say, but after opening his mouth, he only said two words in the end, "Thank you."

The two simple words came across as polite and abrupt.

The smile on Dolly's lips froze for a split second, but it quickly returned to normal.

She always knew that although Gavin accepted her, he could not get close to her or call her "mom".

There had always been a barrier between Gavin and her.

No matter how hard she tried, the barrier could not be removed. Their only hope was that time would gently solve this problem.

Wendy came out of the room with water and happened to hear Gavin's terse "thank you". Naturally, she did not miss the temporary stiffening of Dolly's expression.

She was right. Sure enough, the atmosphere between Dolly and Gavin had cooled considerably. They still could not get along with each other naturally.

At this moment, she could play a role!

Wendy decisively ran out and handed a glass of water to Dolly. "Mom, drink a glass of water first."

"OK."

Dolly smiled and took a sip of water to ease the stiff and awkward atmosphere.

Then, Wendy pulled Dolly to sit down, and massaged her shoulders and back. "Mom, you had a difficult time recently. I will give you a massage to help you relieve the fatigue."

Dolly had heard since she was a child that daughters were as warm as a cotton-padded jacket. Now it seemed that it was true.

The heartfelt smile returned to Dolly's face. She enjoyed Wendy's services for a while, then quickly took Wendy's hand, made her sit down and called Gavin over.

With the presence of Wendy, who could greatly liven up the atmosphere, Gavin and Dolly could get on with each other more naturally. Then, Dolly easily blurted out, "Gavin, how have you been during this time?"

"I'm getting better now." Gavin did not mention the weakness and struggles he had experienced in the past. Instead, he said lightly, "Henry and Noah will be arranging for me to have the last operation soon."

"I know you're going to have an operation after the Spring Festival." Dolly thought for a moment and asked hesitantly, "But, Gavin, are you ready?"

Gavin smiled. After a while, he said slowly, "I have nothing on my mind."

Wendy listened and suddenly felt that there was something wrong with what Gavin said. She turned her head and glared at him. "Gavin?"

Gavin already knew that Wendy would get angry, so he rubbed her hair and said, "I don't have you on my mind."

Wendy felt that Gavin meant that he would not care about her.

"Damn, didn't we promise to love each other forever? Now he doesn't even care about me?"

Wendy told herself that she had to endure it until Dolly left, and then she would interrogate Gavin.

She wanted to see how Gavin would explain what he just said at that time!

If she was not satisfied with Gavin's answer, humph, he would definitely be doomed!
