Joanne led Wendy into the church.
Inside the church, some areas that could be decorated in advance were already adorned with the decorations. The small church seemed to be filled with an air of joy and romance.
What surprised Wendy the most was that Dolly and Conor were also in the church.
She covered her mouth and could not hide her surprise at all. "Dad, Mom, why are you here?"
"How can a father be absent from his daughter's wedding rehearsal?"
Conor smiled slightly and looked lovingly at Wendy.
Wendy could understand what Conor and Dolly meant, although he did not make it clear.
When Wendy decided overnight to marry Gavin, she did not ask Dolly's and Conor's opinions. She felt somewhat guilty about it.
In order to lessen her guilt, Dolly and Conor expressed their support for her in this way.
Wendy's heart felt warm as if it was connected to a certain source of heat.
She walked over and hugged Dolly and Conor tightly. "Dad, Mom, thank you."
Dolly and Conor could not become close lovers, but their love for Wendy was the same.
The "contract" couple patted Wendy's back tacitly and said at the same time, "We don't have much time. Let's start the rehearsal first."
For the first time, Wendy found that the two of them shared a tacit understanding. She kept looking back and forth between Dolly and Conor.
Dolly knew what Wendy was thinking. She smiled and explained, "I've cooperated with your father for so many years, and we raised you together. We do have a tacit understanding of your affairs. However, it's not necessarily the case for other things."
In other words, it happened only during special circumstances, so Wendy did not have to be so surprised.
Wendy had wanted to take this opportunity to persuade Dolly and Conor to stay together in their marriage.
After hearing Dolly's words, she could only give up and obediently look for Joanne to start the rehearsal.
After giving Wendy a brief tour of the church, Joanne continued, "The church is too small and there is no dressing room. So, you have to set off from my aunt's apartment tomorrow, and then Uncle Moore will take you in through the door and hand you over to Gavin."
Wendy seemed to be in a daze. As soon as Joanne finished speaking, she immediately nodded. "Okay!" After a pause, she suddenly remembered something and asked, "What about Gavin? How will you get him to come to the church?"
"Well... we have our plan ready!" Joanne reassured Wendy and began to blabber on in a serious tone. "Tomorrow, we'll lie to Gavin and say that we're going to have dinner outside, and then we'll bring Gavin here. Before he can react, Uncle Moore will come in with you. Next, you just tell Gavin that you're going to marry him and ask him if he's willing to marry you. In this way, you can achieve your purpose of surprising Gavin!"
"Well!" Wendy gave Joanne two thumbs up. "Cousin, you're amazing!"
Joanne smiled and said, "In order to help you, I really racked my brains to come up with this plan."
Wendy stood on tiptoe and hugged Joanne hard. "Cousin, thank you."
"Silly girl, you don't have to thank me." Joanne looked at her watch and added, "We don't have much time. Let's do the rehearsal first. By the way, I will stand here later. Take me as Gavin and practice what you want to say to Gavin first."
"Okay!"
Wendy looked eager to have a try and pulled Conor out.
Joanne stood at a random spot and pretended to look casual.
Soon, the door of the church was pushed open. Joanne turned her head and saw Wendy coming in arm in arm with Conor.
Wendy held a bunch of white roses in her hand, and there was an obvious and gorgeous smile on her face.
Joanne could understand Wendy's mood.
Whoever was about to marry the person she or he loved the most could not suppress her or his excitement.
Wendy held Conor's arm, walked toward Joanne, and finally stopped in front of her.
She told herself to treat Joanne as Gavin for the time being and to practice what she was going to say to him tomorrow.
Only when she practiced well could she act naturally and possessively tomorrow.
Otherwise, if she suddenly appeared in front of Gavin in a white wedding dress, Gavin would definitely be scared out of his wits. If she did not make it clear then, Gavin might not be able to react in time.
It would be sad if Gavin was not surprised but shocked instead.
However, when she looked at Joanne, Wendy burst into laughter.
No matter how hard she tried to visualize Joanne as Gavin, it was still a little... funny.
Joanne was not angry. She looked at Wendy patiently and said, "Although we don't have much time, we can take our time to wait for you to stop laughing."
Wendy knew that Joanne was reminding her indirectly that they did not have much time to waste.
She coughed and her face became serious. She looked at Joanne and said slowly, "Gavin..."
Joanne played her part to the best of her acting skills and pretended to be surprised. She widened her eyes slightly and looked at Wendy, motioning for her to continue.
Wendy also knew that Joanne's look of surprise was a simulation of Gavin's reaction tomorrow.
When she suddenly said that she wanted to marry Gavin, he would inevitably be surprised.
When Gavin was surprised, she needed to briefly tell him why she suddenly did this and that she really wanted to marry him.
Looking at Joanne's surprised look, Wendy automatically imagined that Joanne was Gavin and thought that it was still very funny. She burst into laughter again and almost could not straighten up.
Joanne sighed silently in her heart.
Wendy was so easily amused that she would probably burst into laughter in front of Gavin tomorrow.
Fortunately, Wendy did not have to say those lines at the wedding tomorrow.
Wendy finally stopped laughing after a prolonged period of time, wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes, and looked at Joanne.
Joanne shook her head and looked at Wendy helplessly. "Well, let's go on."
Wendy pursed her lips and said the long prepared lines, word for word, "Gavin, I know you must be very surprised. But I really want to marry you. Before your final operation, I want to be legally wedded to you, so we can spend the most difficult time of our lives together, so, you..."
In front of Joanne, Wendy could not remember the rest of her lines at all.
She was so anxious that she almost cried. She looked at Joanne helplessly and waited for Joanne to tell her what to do next.
Joanne pondered for a moment and suddenly felt that there was no need for Wendy to recite the lines.
Anyway... she might not need the lines.
"Wendy, don't worry." Joanne gave Wendy a comforting look and motioned for her to calm down. "This kind of thing has something to do with your emotions. Tomorrow, the person standing in front of you will be Gavin. You will naturally be able to say what you want to say to Gavin."
Wendy was dubious and looked at Joanne with uncertainty. "Really?"
"It's true." Joanne lied without blushing. "I've been with your cousin-in-law for so long. You have to believe in my experience in love."
Wendy nodded and said reluctantly, "Okay." After thinking for a while, she added, "Cousin, shall we rehearse again?"
"No problem." Joanne was very cooperative and added, "This time, I will turn my back to you. In this way, you should be able to say those lines more fluently."
Wendy nodded and pulled Conor out again.
This time, as Joanne had said, she could say her lines more fluently just by looking at Joanne's back.
Well, her cousin did not lie to her. She would definitely be able to say her lines more fluently when facing Gavin tomorrow.
Joanne breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Okay. That's all for today. Let's go back first."
"Okay!" Wendy looked particularly bright and beautiful, and her smile seemed to be glowing. "Cousin, thank you."
"You don't have to thank me. In fact, I'm very glad to help you." Joanne looked at the time and urged, "Let's go now. Gavin will worry about you when he finds out you've been out for such a long time."
They left the church together. Dolly went back to her apartment. Wendy sent Conor back to the hotel first, and then went back to Gavin's apartment.
Only Joanne did not set off.
She stood by the roadside and waited. After less than half a minute, a familiar car drove toward her.
She smiled and walked towards the car.
The car stopped slowly, and then Brian opened the back door and got out.
The whole company was already on holiday a few days ago, but Brian had been working until today. After finishing his work, he needed to help prepare for Gavin and Wendy's wedding.
Joanne went up to Brian and looked at him. "How's the preparation for the wedding banquet?"
"How can I not do any task assigned by you well?" Brian smiled. "Tomorrow morning, the chefs will start to prepare for Gavin and Wendy's wedding banquet."
"That's good. Everything is ready." Joanne took Brian's hand. "Let's go home."
The two of them got in the car and it sped toward Prime Villas.
As the New Year was approaching, many people returned to their hometowns. The whole of Arlington seemed to be empty all of a sudden, and there were fewer people.
However, this did not affect the atmosphere of the impending New Year.
Joanne leaned against Brian's shoulder. She seemed to suddenly remember something and looked at Brian. "We have been married for two years, but this is the first New Year we spent together."
Others might find it strange when they heard this.
However, Brian understood. He remembered very clearly what had happened between him and Joanne on the first New Year after they got married.
He put his arm around Joanne's shoulder and held her close. "I'm sorry."
