Chapter 107 You Can Count on Me from Today

Intimate body interactions and suggestive moves made the pretty couple's eye-catching dance. The audience was unprecedentedly absorbed in the performance.

Rumor had it that Norris Group and Clark Enterprise were planning on an alliance marriage, plus the two successors both attended the evening banquet and danced so close to each other. Their actions seemed to confirm the rumor.

"They look perfect in this way!"

"Exactly, and Clark Enterprise and Norris Group's alliance is a win-win deal. The marriage will benefit both sides. They'll probably get married."

When gossiping about others, people were always enthusiastic and articulate. Maya could not help tittering and said, "I thought Miss Norris was head over heels for you. I didn't expect that she had a backup."

Chris remained silent and stared coldly at the dancing couple on the dance floor.

To be frank, all the couples on the dance floor danced well. However, only Travis and Freya could stir the audience's emotion the most.

They made the intimate moves naturally and sexily. Sparks flew when their eyes met for a moment. They danced so well and so harmoniously that other couples around them started to retreat and stopped dancing in the end.

Hence, the large dance floor became Freya and Travis's stage. They danced more excitedly. Those young audiences were inspired by their dances and cheered for them.

Freya was the kind of person who would get lost in the dance, plus the audience cheered to encourage her. Her moves became sexier and wilder. When she was in Travis's arms, the smile on the corner of her lips was alluring. Some guy kept gasping and shouted that Freya gave up Travis and married him.

Chris suddenly twisted around to leave, while Maya followed him like a lost puppet. "You're not influenced by Miss Norris, aren't you?"

He fell his warning eyes on Maya only for a second. Maya immediately felt a chill ran down her spine and realized that she had said something wrong.

Even if Chris brought her here tonight, they were still a boss and his subordinate.

Moreover, how could she read the boss's mind right, especially a boss like Chris? However, judging from his reaction, had she guessed it right?

Nevertheless, on second thought, if Chris was really influenced by Freya, he would not have texted her to come halfway through the party.

She let it go then, following Chris's steps. He suddenly stopped. "I'm going for a smoke."

The message was very clear, thus Maya nodded sensibly and looked at Chris's figure until it was out of her sight.

The smoking zone on the first floor must be crowded, so Chris did not think too much before he took the elevator to the upper floor.

On the lower floor, Travis and Freya's salsa was drawing to an end and they received applause and cheers. Some close friend made fun of Freya in an ambiguous way, and she just laughed until her eyes wrinkled in an inviting way. At that time, she nonchalantly swept the entire room and found that both Chris and Maya were gone.

She felt disappointed, but on the surface, she faked an even bigger smile.

"I heard people say that we're a perfect match." Travis joked like a kid. "Freya, how about skipping all the thinking and marrying me now?"

Freya cocked her brow, giving off both sexy and handsome aura. "You don't even pop the question?"

Travis was suddenly enlightened and was about to kneel down, while Freya shoved his kneel hard when no one was watching. In the end, not only did he fail to kneel, he almost twisted his face because of the pain.

"Damn, you're ruthless!" Travis's face was sullen and he was trying to scare Freya. "Want me to teach you a lesson?"

Freya folded her arms before the chest and sneered. "Try me."

Then, she ran away immediately. Travis could only covered his injured kneel while cursing at Freya's figure.

Brian had watched Freya the entire time and finally, he actually smiled. "Freya should be in the showbiz."

"Because she's good at hiding disappointment and bad emotions?" Joanne said, "That's because she'd been refused by my brother too many times."

While speaking, she involuntarily rubbed her wound with the left hand. Though Brian was very careful during the dance, she moved more than she could handle and thus strained the wound on her right hand again.

Brian caught her rubbing the hand. "Your hand hurts?"

She forced a smile. "It's fine. I'll rest for a minute." However, it seemed to be hurting more, so she could only ask, "Does the hotel have ice bags?"

Brian did not care and directly had a manager fetch an ice bag for him.

In less than five minutes, a waiter sent an ice bag. Joanne thanked and was about to take it. However, Brian already picked it up from the tray.

"Give me your hand," said he.

Knowing Brian wanted to help her, Joanne was obedient. "OK." She reached out her hand and the cold ice bag was applied on her hand, which eased the pain temporarily.

She secretly looked up to Brian and found his eyes fell and he was treating her wound carefully.

A piece of rock seemed to be thrown into the lake of her heart. Subtle happiness was rippling across it.

Neither of them knew that it was not only photographed by the journalists, but also seen by Rosalyn.

Compared with the disappointment, she was feeling more surprise.

From what she knew, Brian was not that kind of person. He was cold and decisive in the business community, and could greatly influence the stock market. He only did great things, things that could shake the business community. Why... would he do such things?

However, she saw it with her own eyes. Brian was applying an ice bag onto Joanne's hand. He carefully held Joanne's hand on his palm like holding a precious pearl. The ice bag was on her wound and his look... was actually tender.

He said to her that he would divorce Joanne two years later, but how would things become like this now? Should not he and Joanne be pretending a couple? Or had they gotten too engaged in the storyline?

After several minutes, the pain gradually faded and Joanne smiled. "I'm alright."

Before Brian took away the ice bag, Gavin's tease came from behind. "Aww, how sweet! Do you know that the journalists are taking photos?"

Joanne twisted around and saw a journalist put away his camera. She blushed at once and hid beside Brian. The journalist probably sensed her embarrassment and walked away smilingly. Then, she saw Gavin walking toward her with Wesley.

The more she thought about Wesley, the more mysterious he became in her heart.

He was dressed in a black solid suit. His facial features were distinct. With his masculine aura, he appeared formidable without making any gesture or saying anything. There seemed to be a deep black abyss behind him. Black clouds scudded there and the darkness seemed to flow out to shroud everything any time.

Wesley was the king of the darkness. He ruled the dark world, while in the world of light, no one saw through his mind.

For some unknown reason, Joanne feared him and drew nearer to Brian. Wesley already noticed her eyes. He smiled. "Do you have something to ask me?"

When he smiled, he became even more mysterious. Joanne took a deep breath before she said, "Yes. How's Yuna in work?"

Wesley had guessed that she was going to ask about Yuna, so he just raised his brow. "That girl isn't quite diligent, but she does do her job. And she helped me in several emergencies too. She thinks clearly but she's got no ambitions. Otherwise, she could have done some more challenging work."

"If she's happy and wants it that way, it isn't so bad." Joanne smiled. "Please take care of her for me."

"Sure." Wesley glanced at Brian. "Even if not for your sake, I'll have to take care of her for your Mr. Brian's sake. Yuna is in safe hands working at my place."

Joanne was sincere. "Thank you."

"OK, we should go." After the business was done here with Brian, Gavin was sensible to take a leave. "Otherwise, the journalists will take photos of two giant male fifth wheels!"

They left and Joanne could not help laughing. "Your personal assistant is much more humorous than my brother. You don't just know each other in work, right? Sometimes I heard him call you by your name. How long have you known each other?"

"More than 10 years." Brian said, "We met when we studied in the US."

Joanne felt surprised. "That explains."

By this time, everyone had found their way of entertainment. Some danced, some tasted the delicacy, and some talked. Joanne walked with Brian with her arms around his, and no one interrupted them. She went back to the topic and asked him about things in the US, such as things he found hard to get used to. He said, "Food."

"Me too." Joanne felt like she had found a "soulmate". "Later, I rent an apartment with Freya near the school. We bought cookers and cooked for ourselves. That was when I started to eat a balanced diet. Or, I would have been a fatty when I graduated there."

"So that's how you learned to cook?"

"Uh-huh." Joanne was very proud. "Freya paid the rental fee and bills, and I cooked. We never fought for once when we lived together. The gay couple living opposite us thought we're lesbians."

Brian smiled. "And then?"

"Then nothing." Joanne slowly said, "It's nothing new there. They knew that things were tough in our country, so they told us to take off the pressure because we could at least stay in the US. Freya and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, because they kissed in front of us and encouraged us..."

Gradually, Joanne started to mumble about the days when she studied in the US.

At that time, though Chris's company just got on the right track and he could finally pay for her tuition and accommodation. However, she already got used to not burdening Chris. Thus, her every penny was well-spent.

Labor costs in the US were very expensive. When they moved from the dorm to the apartment, to save money, she painted the walls, changed the light bulbs and bought furniture to assemble herself. She also sat on the floor helplessly in front of those messy boards and paint. However, she made it in the end. From that time, she really never burdened Chris anymore.

Now, she could tell others about those bitter past days in a proud tone.

Brian knew how she went through those days, but when he heard them from her personally, he felt something more. He held her slim body close to him. "Joanne, you can count on me from today."
