Chapter 1109 Remember to Give Gavin Back to Me (3)

Wendy's character was different from Joanne's and Freya's.

She was more lively than Joanne, but not as proud and rebellious as Freya.

If one had to describe her with an adjective, it could only be said that she was quite naughty and liked to go against others.

Noah had known Wendy for so long that he had long been used to the fact that she would be opposing him in various ways.

He didn't expect that the little girl would become so obedient today.

Noah pondered for a moment and felt a little unaccustomed to it.

"Hmm... why would I feel unaccustomed to her nice gesture?"

Noah sighed in his heart and suddenly realized that there was no need for him to say anything more.

Gavin had been ill for so long that it made Wendy tough up enough. She was now aware of both what she should and should not know.

No matter what Noah said, he couldn't reduce the risk of the operation.

Instead of saying some useless comforting words, he found that it was better to let Gavin and Wendy have some alone time to finish what they needed to say.

Noah stood up and spread out his hands slightly as if he didn't know what to say. After a while, he said, "Well, it's time for me to go. I'll come back when the operation is about to start. I'll leave the place to you."

Gavin nodded and watched Noah leave the suite. Soon, only he and Wendy were left in the room.

Wendy felt a little disappointed. She lowered her head and walked to Gavin's bed. She said in a low voice, "Gavin, Dr. Sanchez didn't agree to my request..."

"Uh-huh." Gavin nodded. "I'm not surprised at all. If I were Dr. Sanchez, I wouldn't have agreed to that as well."

Wendy didn't expect Gavin not to take her side at all. She bit her lip and said grumpily, "I need to tell you some bad news!"

Gavin raised his eyebrows and asked calmly, "What is it?"

Wendy stared at Gavin's head and said, "The first procedure of the operation is called 'preserved skin'. Do you know what it means?"

Gavin majored in economics and business when he was at the university. He didn't know much about medical terms.

He said frankly, "I don't know."

"Hum..." Wendy's smile became stranger and stranger. She made a gesture of cutting. Her index finger and middle finger kept opening and closing while she said, "It means to shave off your hair!"

Gavin was speechless.

It would be a lie if he said that he was not surprised.

"However, doesn't she just want to scare him?

"I'll not grant her wish!"

Gavin continued to ask as if that didn't matter to him, "I need to get preserved skin before the operation. Then what?"

"Then-" Wendy's tone grew a bit weird. She tried to say in a very scary tone, "Your hair will be gone!"

Gavin was still very calm. He took the mirror at the bedside and looked at himself carefully. Finally, he came to a conclusion and said slowly, "Wendy, I think that even if I lose my hair, I will still remain handsome. You can rest assured."

Wendy didn't say anything.

"Huh?"

She was stunned.

"I've been thinking about scaring Gavin, and he should be taken aback by what I said. The focus of their discussion should also be on him.

"But what's going on now?

"Why did he shift the focus to me?"

Gavin looked at Wendy's confused look and couldn't help smiling. He pulled her into his arms and said, "It may take some time for my hair to grow back after it's shaved. You'll need to adapt to my baldness."

Wendy finally realized that she couldn't scare Gavin, so she had to follow along with what he said. "As long as you don't become ugly, I can adapt to any look you'll have."

Gavin didn't say anything.

He felt as if he had been choked. He held Wendy's chin and kissed her on the lips.

Ever since he fell ill, he knew that he had to undergo surgery.

And it was now time for him to do that.

He was full of confidence, but he was not sure if he could get through it.

If he failed, this would be the last time he and Wendy met.

If he didn't hug or kiss her now, he might no longer have to chance to do so in the future.

Gavin's mood became complicated, but Wendy calmed down in an instant. She could feel the tenderness and attachment in his movements.

Her hands gradually went out of control. She hugged Gavin with increasing strength as if she was going all out to hold him.

Of course, he could feel her attempt. He grabbed her hands and gently wrapped them in his palms.

He knew what Wendy was thinking.

He also wanted to tell her in this way that he would definitely do his best to make it.

Before meeting Wendy, Gavin had been repeating a few things in his life - work, having fun, breaking up with his exes, and then continuing to work.

In the dead of night, he would occasionally think about whether such a lifestyle would change.

If that could happen, what kind of change would he undergo?

That was all Gavin had thought about.

He had never pursued a specific answer because he would fall asleep before he got one.

Only later did he realize that he was just trying to escape reality by sleeping soundly.

After this went on for a few years, he did not make any changes in his life at all.

He began to think again, "Is there anything for me to miss in such a life?"

The answer was no.

However, Brian needed him, and that was the only reason why he insisted on living.

Things were different now. After Wendy showed up, his life was full of ups and downs. He could actually feel the happiness of life.

He and Wendy were already married, and he had become her husband, but he had never done his duty as a proper husband.

He still had a deep attachment to the world because of Wendy.

He wanted to live.

Therefore, in the following operation, he would do his best to fight against the disease that had once taken his father's life.

His father died of an ailment, but he would never repeat the same fate as his father had.

With that in mind, Gavin kissed Wendy harder and harder as if he wanted to embed her into his arms.

She felt his strength and kissed him back with the same strength.

It seemed that if they didn't need to breathe, they could kiss until the end of time.

Unfortunately, the reality was cruel.

After a short moment, both of them slowly parted.

Gavin was so absorbed in the kiss that he kept his eyes closed. Just as they were about to separate, he felt a burst of tears.

He opened his eyes and saw that Wendy's eyes were red, and her tears kept falling from her eyes.

He hadn't seen her cry like this for a long time.

"Now the little girl is probably really scared."

Gavin stroked Wendy's face with one hand and wiped the tears on her face with his thumb. He said softly, "Silly girl, don't be afraid. I'll be fine."

Wendy's eyes were filled with tears. She nodded and said with a sob, "Okay."

Of course, she knew that Gavin would do his best to be fine.

However, he wasn't in control of the result of the operation.

Gavin kissed away the tears on Wendy's face and tried to distract her as much as possible. "Don't cry. You should go have breakfast."

He needed to take an operation, so he couldn't eat breakfast, but Wendy had to eat something.

In the next few hours, he would undergo the operation. Although she didn't need to do anything specific, she needed to bear unprecedented psychological pressure.

He was afraid that she would not be able to hold on if she didn't have enough physical strength.

Wendy didn't have much appetite, but she listened to whatever Gavin said this morning.

She nodded and said, "Okay. I'll ask someone to bring breakfast here."

The breakfast was quickly served by the hospital restaurant, including a glass of milk, a chicken breast sandwich, and a fruit salad. It was not particularly sumptuous, but it was nutritious.

Gavin pulled Wendy to sit down and urged her, "Hurry up and eat."

Wendy nodded obediently and ate the food on the tray bit by bit.

After that, she put away the stuff. When she returned to the room again, Gavin had closed his eyes.

"Is he asleep?"

Wendy carefully leaned over and called softly, "Gavin?"

Gavin didn't respond immediately.

Wendy thought in disappointment that he should have fallen asleep.

"This is nice. He can undergo surgery without feeling any pressure."

Wendy was about to tidy up Gavin's quilt when she saw him open his eyes.

He was still awake. However, he was clearly not as energetic as when he had just woken up.

By just saying a few words to her, he had consumed most of his physical strength.

Wendy sat down beside the bed and looked at him. "Are you tired?"

"If he isn't tired, how could he fall asleep while I went out to wash the dishes?"

"I'm fine." Gavin grabbed Wendy's hand. "Did you think I was asleep?"

Wendy nodded. "Yeah."

Gavin smiled and said softly, "Wendy, I feel reluctant."

"Huh?" Wendy didn't understand for a moment. She looked at Gavin in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"You heard what Noah said just now." Gavin said slowly, "I will be very weak for a long time after surgery, so I won't have much chance to accompany you. Since we are still together now, I don't want to waste my time in a coma."

There was another meaning behind his words. Although Gavin did not say it, Wendy knew it very well.

This operation was risky.

In other words, its success rate was not very high.

This was probably the last time she and Gavin could meet. If they didn't see each other now, they might never have the chance to do it again.

Therefore, Gavin didn't want to waste his time sleeping.

Wendy bent down and gently hugged him. She placed half of her face against his chest, listening to his heartbeat.

Although it was not as strong as usual, at least she could feel that his heartbeat was clear and distinct.

Just now, Wendy was certain that she had a lot to say to Gavin. At this moment, she was so close to him, but she just wanted to stay with him quietly.

A few days ago, she read a saying the time people met each other would always grow less and less.

She didn't understand this before. She repeatedly avoided her feelings for Gavin and didn't dare to admit anything.

Now, she finally understood what that saying meant.

She didn't want anything else but a chance to cherish her time with Gavin.

"God wouldn't be so cruel to me as to not even give me a chance, would he?"
