They told people that they were going to have a baby?
Joanne's cheeks evoked two blushes. Then she seriously reprimanded Brian. "Did your teacher from kindergarten not tell you that it is not good to deceive people! Also, don't joke about it."
Since she might misunderstand if he talked too much about it.
That she and Brian could also have a happy future life that she could not imagine.
After Rosalyn left, the reporters no longer kept their eyes on Brian and Joanne. Then Gavin and Wesley walked towards here together with several men of their own age, who seemed to be very familiar with Brian.
Gavin introduced Joanne to these people, but those men just grinned and called Joanne their sister-in-law. Joanne didn't get used to it whilst finding nothing repulsive.
Because she was Brian's wife, that was why she was called sister-in-law by these big men.
Thus she had to respond with a smile.
"We were betting that Brian must be the last to get married. I didn't expect him to be the first one," a man ridiculed Brian, "you don't often talk about love, but once you talk about it, you get married."
Then everyone used it as an excuse to pile Brian with drinks, who just drank them all and took all the shots served for Joanne.
Brian had already drunk a lot and he kept drinking one glass after another. Joanne was worried, but she could not say anything in front of a group of men, but gently tugged at his sleeves in secret.
"It's fine," Brian looked at her with a smile and whispered, "I am not so easy to get drunk."
Joanne didn't know, but these bad friends knew it that Brian was willing to drink, so they could make him guzzle. Otherwise, the thing would go the other way round and they would be the ones who were pouring down drinks instead.
Although these men didn't know why Brian intended to do so, it was a great opportunity for a rare event. So these big men became more vigorous, and those who had seen the scene also made toasts to Brian.
Joanne assumed that things would turn bad, thus she seized a chance to take Brian away. "Let's go back."
Brian pinched his eyebrows and looked at his watch. Then he paused for a while and said, "It's still early."
His reaction has slowed down, indicating that the wine started to kick in. Joanne was worried that something bad would happen if Brian continued to drink, so she pressed him to sit down. "Don't move, I will go find Gavin."
Brian pressed his hand on his temple and held Joanne with the other hand. "When will you come back?"
He spoke a little vaguely, whilst his hand was very strong. Joanne coaxed him as if he were a child. "In five minutes."
"Okay." Brian looked at the watch and began to count down. "If you don't come back in five minutes, I will go to you."
Joanne ran quickly to get someone. Since Gavin and Wesley were both outstanding in height and shape, so she saw them at the first glance and walked over. But she heard them afar saying that they must get Brian drunk today.
Are they terrible friends?
Gavin first noticed Joanne, asked confusingly. "Where is your Mr. Lambert?"
"He is already drunk," Joanne said, "you need to help me call Winston to park the car at the door of the hotel, and I will go back with him now, so I have to leave it to you."
Joanne then went back. Wesley smiled and said, "Good, she knows to ask you to clean the mess before she left."
"She made her contribution to this year's anniversary celebration," Gavin said, "don't underestimate this skinny girl, she has strong explosive power."
When Joanne went back, Brian was still looking at the watch. He raised his lips and smiled. "Four minutes and seventeen seconds."
He was really drunk, otherwise, he would not have done such a naive thing.
Joanne went to help him. "The rest is handed over to Gavin. Can we go home?"
Brian squinted at her and said after a long while, " Okay."
He stood up and did not forget to put his arm around Joanne's waist, and took her out of the banquet hall.
Winston got off to open the door. Whilst Brian still remembered to take care of ladies at this point and let Joanne get on the car first.
As soon as Joanne sat down, she felt something heavy on her right shoulder. The mellow red wine aroma and the unique smell of Brian invaded her breath. She looked at Brian leaning on her shoulder with eyes closed, he seemed to fall asleep.
He should be tired. He could only lean on her like this when he was exhausted, just like what he did twice before.
"Winston, let's go home."
Joanne said with a light voice, and there was almost no noise in the car. She couldn't help looking at Brian carefully from sideways.
She found his face was breathtakingly beautiful from all angles, which suddenly reminded Joanne of their first encounter.
She remembered that day early in the morning, her mother pulled her out of the bed. "Joanne, let's go to the old house to meet an auntie and a brother."
And she was still sleepy when they arrived at the place. She rubbed her eyes and saw a rawboned woman with a tall boy, who made her completely sober at the moment.
Before seeing Brian, she always believed that her brother was the best-looking boy in the world that it was impossible for anyone to compete with him.
However, the sudden appearance of Brian instantly subverted her concept. Like his brother, he already had a tall and straight posture at such a young age. He had his deep dark eyes hidden under the black bangs, and his thin lips closely pressed to each other. He looked even better than her brother with such a cool face!
She shook off her mother's hand and ran to Brian. She could only look up at him. "Brother, you look as good as my older brother."
Brian should at least say thank you after being praised like this. Whilst he just looked at her coldly, as if she were an unknown creature emerging from the ground.
At the age of ten, Joanne was still a little princess who was spoiled everywhere, whom little boys tried their best to please. Her brother Chris was more compliant to her. However, in the face of Brian being so indifferent, her little self-esteem was frustrated for the first time.
Joanne's mother told her that something happened in his family, which left him in a very bad mood, so she needed to cheer him up. Thus she silently forgave Brian in her heart and decided not to argue with him about it.
She was even touched by her own kindness, but Brian always ignored her.
Now thought about it, his mother Iris became so skinny after his father passed away, he must also feel extremely bad about it.
And the appearance of her with a big smile should be a big annoyance for Brian at that time.
This was also the reason why she did not dare to see Brian after she grew up, regardless of how many times Iris had invited her. She was afraid to see that cold expression on his face.
Forty minutes later, the car stopped at the door, Joanne brought back her thoughts and woke up Brian by shaking him. "Wake up, we are home now."
Brian opened his eyes after a long while. Joanne was afraid that he would fall asleep again, so she said, "We are home, get off the car."
After that, she got off first. Winston asked, "Young Madam, would you like to ask Simon to help?"
Before Joanne could answer, Brian got off the car and threw himself at her. He whispered in her ear and said, "Don't call other people, I only want you."
There was a tease in his voice. Joanne knew that he was deliberate and he was really drunk. She held him. "Well, then you go inside with me."
Brian smiled smugly, which led Joanne quietly blaming him for being drunk and acting like a child. She helped him into the room. Simon and Martha wanted to help, while Brian suddenly pinched her waist. She then said quickly, "Simon, you go take a rest. He's just drunk but not that serious, I can deal with it."
Before Simon said anything, Brian had already pulled her upstairs.
When passing her room, Brian did not slow down a bit and dragged her directly into his room. He seemed not to be drunk at all when he opened the door.
"Pow", the door was slammed shut. Joanne was trying to ask Brian to take a shower, while he suddenly pressed her to the door, and looked at her with his deep eyes, where confusion floated.
"Lu, Brian?" Joanne was confused about what he would do.
Brian suddenly bowed his head and kissed her on the lips.
His breath was hot, and there was still a taste of red wine in his mouth. Brian held her chin and kissed her affectionately and slowly, which made Joanne suspicious about if he was awake.
Joanne struggled for a moment but was pressed by Brian on the shoulder. He kissed her ear and lured her. "Don't move. Joanne, don't move."
Joanne knew that he was sober since he could call her by name. Then she pushed him. "Go take a shower."
"No." Brian suddenly pulled her into his arms like a child and kissed her lips again, lingering while keeping calling her name.
Joanne was kind of helpless and she knew what state Brian was-drunk but sober, with half of his self-control left, which enabled him to do whatever he wanted like a wayward child.
However, she knew exactly how to comfort him-she put her arms around his neck, trying to respond to him with her limited experience so that he could pass the residue of wine in his mouth to her. Joanne didn't know if she was affected by the alcohol or not because she also felt somewhat tipsy.
Brian loosened her up a little bit as Joanne expected, she then said, "Could you take a shower, I won't leave."
He hesitated a moment before reluctantly let go of her and looked at the look on her face. Perhaps he didn't find any trail of her lying, thus he said, "Okay." Then he went straight to the bathroom.
Joanne brought out his pajamas and heard the sound of water coming from the bathroom. Brian said with a drunken voice, "Joanne?"
"I am outside." Joanne responded to him in time in case he ran out of the bathroom.
"Good, wait for me there, I will go out soon," Brian said, "don't leave, I will find out."
Joanne couldn't help laughing. Was he drunk or awake?
Sure enough, the sound of water stopped after a few minutes. Brian called her again. Joanne said, "Pajamas are here."
Joanne was shocked when the door was opened, but fortunately, only his head appeared. He looked at her with a faint smile. "What are you doing with my pajamas? Do you want to help me?"
"Rogue." After Joanne passed the pajamas to him, the door was pulled shut.
Brian quickly put on his pajamas and came out, blundering like a sleepy man with his hair dripping with water. Joanne frowned. "You didn't dry your hair."
He gave Joanne a towel out of nowhere like magic. "You help me."
Joanne knew that he was now a wayward child thus she didn't even try to refuse. She took the towel and sat down with him. "Brian, are you drunk or not?"
"What's the difference?" Brian asked back.
Joanne thought for a moment. "It is nothing different." He was really drunk, and she had to take care of him. If he was not drunk, then this was his request, and he had thousands of methods to make her surrender despite her unwillingness.
So she had to cater to him whether he was drunk or not.
While sighing and drying his hair, Joanne was suddenly in the mood for mischief.
Brian had never changed his haircut. Would he become ugly if his hair was all slicked back?
