Chapter 1115 The Promised Companion Becomes Bullying (1)

Joanne noticed Noah's expression and was surprised to find that he looked serious.

Although he was a doctor, he was capable and bold. He was not as steady and serious as ordinary doctors.

Most of the time, he gave others the impression that he was easygoing and casual.

Joanne was not used to his sudden sternness.

However, did this mean that what he was going to say was more serious than they imagined?

For some reason, Joanne's heart grew heavier.

Wendy was merely happy and didn't notice anything unusual about Noah at all. Naturally, she didn't think as much as Joanne did.

She was smiling happily, and the smile on her face was as bright as the sun. She said gracefully, "Dr. Sanchez, no matter what request you have, just name it! As long as I can do it, I will agree to it!"

At this time, she could only use such a heroic utterance to express her gratitude to Noah.

Wendy had already promised him, so the others had no reason to turn him down.

Joanne followed along with Wendy's words and said, "Yes. Dr. Sanchez, tell us about it first."

If they could really help Noah, they sure had no reason to turn him down, nor would they do it.

Noah did not speak. His handsome eyes drooped slightly. No one knew what he was thinking.

After a while, he had a bitter smile on his face. His voice was a little low as he said, "Forget it. We'll talk about it later. I need to get the cleanup of Gavin's operation done."

Hearing that, Wendy got uneasy again. She quickly grabbed Noah and asked, "Is Gavin's operation not over yet?"

She was also a doctor, and she knew better than anyone that the operation could not be declared successful until the last moment.

"If Gavin's operation is not over yet, maybe... I got too excited."

Looking at Wendy's shocked look, Noah suddenly felt that the little girl was quite cute. He comforted her with a smile, "Don't overthink it. The operation is over, but there's still some follow-up work to do. I can't rest totally assured with their work, so I want to go in and keep an eye on it."

"I see." Wendy breathed a sigh of relief and pushed Noah. "Then go in and do that now!"

"Tsk!" Noah shook his head in disappointment. "Wendy, you are so heartless!"

"Well, you misunderstood my intention. I'm just being caring!"

Wendy smiled cheekily and joked. She directly pushed Noah into the operating room.

The operating room door was quickly closed again, but this time, Wendy's mood was different from before.

She was no longer worried or afraid.

"Gavin and I have gone through such a great challenge together. In the future... perhaps nothing will get to defeat us, and we won't need to be afraid anymore."

Wendy was both happy and excited. Her eyes suddenly became hot again, and she couldn't control the tears, which kept falling from her eyes.

When she shed tears of sadness because of fear, she would go to Joanne.

When she shed tears of joy, she would still go to Joanne.

Wendy turned around with tears in her eyes and subconsciously looked for Joanne's figure. "Joanne..."

Joanne was no longer nervous and worried. Seeing Wendy like this, she couldn't help laughing. She walked over and hugged Wendy. She patted her on the back and comforted her. "Don't cry. Gavin is fine. He will recover after a while."

"I know that." Wendy cried and nodded. She looked at Joanne with tears in her eyes and said in an extremely aggrieved voice, "I just can't control myself..."

Joanne didn't expect that the little girl would defend herself.

She couldn't help bursting into laughter and continued to stroke Wendy's back. "All right now. Would this help?"

Wendy gritted her teeth, buried her head on Joanne's shoulder, and held back her tears after she tried hard for a long time.

She cried no matter whether she was happy or upset. Joanne had never seen someone act this way. She thought helplessly, "What can I do with Wendy?"

However, she was glad that Gavin had made it through this operation.

Otherwise, Wendy would not just be crying like this.

After a long while, Joanne let go of Wendy and asked softly, "Do you feel better now?"

Wendy was a little embarrassed to look at the others. She lowered her head and replied with a "yeah" but didn't dare to look up.

She had never lost control and cried out loud in front of so many people.

"The scenes from the beginning of Gavin's operation to now will be my skeletons in the closet. The onlookers will definitely mention it from time to time and make fun of me...

"Alas, it's so embarrassing!"

Chris was the first one to know Wendy and knew her well. He saw her embarrassment at a glance and deliberately asked, "Wendy, why are you lowering your head?"

Wendy certainly knew that Chris did it on purpose. She raised her eyes and glanced at him, saying in a low voice, "I can raise my head, but you have to promise me a condition first!"

Whether she would raise her head or not was entirely her personal business. She made it sound like it was other people asking her to raise her head.

However, everyone was in a good mood after they learned that Gavin's operation was successful. They didn't mind agreeing to what Wendy asked for.

Chris nodded. "Tell me about it. We will try our best not to refuse you if we can."

"You can agree to it!" Wendy slowly raised her head, glanced at everyone, and said, "My request is very simple. In the future, don't mention or laugh at my crying today!"

Chris smiled and deliberately teased Wendy. "What if we mention it? Will you lower your head again like just now?"

Wendy fell silent.

Her face was red and darkened, and her emotions were extremely complicated. There was a fit of strong anger in the bottom of her eyes, but she had no way to vent it.

The others, including Conor and Dolly, didn't do Wendy a favor and burst into unscrupulous laughter together.

Wendy knew that everyone was laughing at her, and she wanted to cry again.

But this time, she didn't feel like crying out of sadness. She would just cry because she was bullied.

Wendy stamped her feet and looked at Chris angrily. "You can't do this!"

Chris raised his eyebrows and began to play dumb openly. He asked, "What did I do?"

"Stop it!" Wendy directly exposed Chris. "You were bullying me just now!"

Chris didn't argue with Wendy. He turned to ask the others, "Did I?"

Most people did not speak. Only Freya stepped up, nodded, and said, "Yes!"

Wendy rushed to Freya as if she had seen her savior. "Freya, I knew you were the best to me!"

Freya ignored Wendy. She took Chris's hand and continued, "However, I'm on your side!"

Now, Brian also couldn't help laughing.

Hearing that, Wendy stopped walking toward Freya.

She looked at her cousin-in-law in disbelief and wanted to cry.

At this moment, she suddenly felt lonely and helpless.

"Didn't we agree that they would stay with me together?

"It's obvious that they are all bullying me now!"

Wendy was truly about to cry as she complained, "You were not like this just now!"

Joanne smiled and reminded her, "The world keeps changing every minute, let alone us."

Wendy was speechless. She really missed Gavin, who doted on her and would never change his attitude toward her.

They joked for a while, and then the operating room door opened again.

This time, Noah was not the only one who came out of the operating room. There were also other doctors and nurses who participated in the operation, as well as Gavin.

From a distance, Wendy could only see Gavin lying on the hospital bed, wearing a hospital gown and an oxygen mask. His hair had really been shaved off.

"Gavin is now bald..."

Wendy wasn't happy or sad about it. She laughed and burst into tears again.

However, this time, she didn't need anyone to comfort her. Her tears quickly stopped.

She was probably having tears of joy.

Wendy ran in the direction of Gavin and blurted out, "Gavin!"

Gavin had his eyes closed tightly and did not respond.

Wendy didn't mind that. She held his hand and felt the familiar warmth.

He did make it through the last surgery and was still alive.

An irrepressible joy spread on Wendy's face. She didn't let go of Gavin's hand but held it tighter.

She would never want to let go of his hand ever again.

"Wendy," Noah reminded her, "we need to send Gavin back to the ward first. You have plenty of time to be with him. Now, let go of his hand first and let us finish the work, okay?"

Wendy nodded obediently. "Okay."

The others also quickly came over, but they didn't call out Gavin's name as excitedly as Wendy did.

"All right." Noah said to the nurses, "Send Mr. Gavin back to the ward."

"Okay." A nurse reminded the crowd in a soft voice, "Please step aside, everyone. We need to send the patient back to the ward."

Joanne and the others were very cooperative and wheeled Gavin back to the suite with the nurses.

After they passed through the living room and arrived at the door of the ward, Noah only let Wendy and Dolly in. He reached out to stop the others and explained, "You should wait in the living room for a while. Before Gavin wakes up, only two people at most get to accompany him in the ward. If he has too many people around, it will affect his rest."

Joanne nodded. "We get that." After a pause, she continued, "Dr. Sanchez, thank you for saving Gavin."

"That's what I should do." Noah made fun of himself. "Besides, if I didn't get to save him, Wesley would be likely to kill me. I was afraid, so I had to do my best!"
