Joanne was so itch to try when just imagining what Brian was going to look like.
She was excited to bring a wooden comb, walked back and forth and looked at Brian up and down like she was a professional stylist. Brian probably was dizzied, thus he frowned with discontent. Joanne suddenly pressed him on the shoulder. "Don't move, your hair is a bit messy."
Brian stopped moving since he was a person who paid great attention to the external image. Joanne smiled and combed his hair back.
"Don't move." She treated him like a child. "It will be very soon."
She didn't dare to use hair gel to fix it, but only combed it back softly. It was indeed fast, and it didn't take a minute to make his hair slicked back.
Joanne couldn't wait to take a look at Brian, but she just sighed with disappointment in the end.
Generally speaking, such hairstyle didn't fit most of people but only for those who were mature and confident. Besides, if they had no elegant temperament like yuppies, nor formal wear and long trench coat of Xu Wenqiang's, it was still difficult for them to embody that peculiar air of romantic and confidence.
However, god was always partial, so that a certain kind of people could easily fit into every single hairstyle, such as Brian.
Joanne intended to make Brian look bad. But with this hairstyle, he radiated a mysterious charm while he slightly smiled.
She was infatuated and suddenly distracted.
After a while, Joanne coughed a bit.Wait a minute, I will go get a mirror for you."
She fetched a small mirror with enthusiasm and put it in front of Brian with a smile. "Take a look, can you recognize this man in the mirror? What's his name?"
Brian squinted and suddenly pulled Joanne by grabbing her hand. She didn't even have the time to ask him what he was going to do, and she was already thrown into the bed by him.
She found his black hair, which looked messy and wild, spread out, and his eyes gleamed with danger.
Joanne suddenly thought of the handsome but wild man in the jungle.
She was scared to cry. "Hey, I was wrong"
How dare she molested Brian!
However, Brian still pressed her under his body, instead of letting her go.
Joanne goggled. "You you get up! It's rude to press people like this!"
Brian slightly smiled and touched her lips with his long fingers. "What should I do? I want to do something ruder."
Joanne's brain went blank, and the next second her lips were forcibly occupied by Brian.
His movements were neither gentle nor eager. He just kissed more seriously than he had ever kissed before. He tasted her lips carefully, like eating the long-awaited delicacies.
Joanne blinked her eyes, her long eyelashes swept on Brian, which made him stop to kiss her eyes. Joanne subconsciously closed them, and Brian made a satisfactory chuckle. "There you go, close your eyes."
There must be alcohol in his voice, otherwise, how could she be fascinated?
Joanne then unconsciously put her hands on Brian's neck and slowly loosened her teeth.
Brian's well-defined hand gently stroked her cheeks and contours and skillfully touched every part of her face. After a while, he spread his passionate kiss to her collarbone along her neck.
Joanne slightly gasped, and suddenly came to reason.
Hey, obviously it was her that wanted to make fun of Brian, how come it was him taking advantage of her!
"Psst-"
Brian unzipped her dress.
She was in a sudden stiff, and subconsciously grasped Brian's hand. "Lu, Brian I, I want to take a shower."
She understood that she could not refuse him since he was in a state between drunk and sober, thus he might force her or let her go.
Therefore finding an excuse to leave was the best way.
Brian looked at her with suspicion, which made Joanne's heart beat like a drum, but fortunately, Brian finally got up. "Go."
Joanne took the dress and went out like it was an amnesty, but she was stopped by Brian in two steps. "Joanne." He pointed in the direction of the bathroom. "The bathroom is there, where are you going?"
"I" Joanne turned back and bit her lips-she certainly wanted to go back to her room!
"You want to leave?" Brian squinted and said with a dangerous tone.
Joanne thought for a moment and shook her head. "No, I I just went in the wrong direction."
She smiled reluctantly and went back to the bathroom. Brian called her again. "What about your pajamas?"
She then went to the cloakroom and took out a set of pajamas, which was immediately thrown into the trash can by Brian because he thought it was cheesy. Joanne goggled. "Brian, what are you doing! What am I supposed to wear if you throw it away?"
Brian smiled and rubbed her face. "Then don't wear it."
Joanne's cheeks turned red. "Rogue!"
Fortunately, Brian didn't mean what he said. He took her into the cloakroom and looked at the empty wardrobe on the other side. "Why do you have so few clothes?"
Joanne noticed that Brian had forgotten that they were living separately, so she intentionally teased him and made an unpleasant noise. "Isn't it because you don't want to buy it for me?!"
Brian slightly frowned, and he could not believe that he was so stingy. He then passed his shirt to Joanne. "Don't be angry. Tomorrow is the weekend, let's go shopping and fill the entire cloakroom. As soon as there are new arrivals of the brands you like, you ask them to send here and try them on, okay?"
Huh? It turned out that he was so easy to be deceived while being drunk.
Joanne wanted to take the opportunity to trick him again, but Brian had pulled her out of the cloakroom. "Go shower, I'll wait for you."
The last four words stiffened Joanne's scalp, and she swallowed a little. "I have to take a long bath. You can sleep first, don't need to wait for me."
She entered the bathroom and took off the tiring high heels at the door. she soaked herself into the bathtub and finally let out a sigh of relief.
She had never coped with so many people in her life like tonight. Whilst Brian was still drunk like a child
But it was undeniable that his childishness was much more lovely than usual because he often scolded her in addition to threatening her.
After soaking for half an hour, Joanne estimated that Brian should fall asleep, so she put on his shirt and sneaked out. Sure enough, Brian was lying in bed, and he should have been asleep.
She walked very lightly towards the door with almost no sound.
Joanne thought that she finally escaped when her hand touched the doorknob, however-
"Where are you going?"
Brian said with a low voice from behind. She turned around and looked at him, who had already sat up. He squinted her, which made her terrified.
"I" she faltered for a while and finally came up with an excuse, "I want a glass of water downstairs."
Brian frowned even more. "There is water in the room."
"Oh, how did I forget?"
Joanne had to pretend to be annoyed to let go of the doorknob, walked back and poured a glass of water to drink. She also asked Brian. "Do you want it?"
He didn't say anything, thus she put down the glass and went over. "Go to sleep."
"Do you want to leave?" Brian suddenly asked.
Not only the back ridge, but also Joanne's soles turned cold. She was wondering if Brian was angry, so she went over and hugged him. "No. We are home now, where can I go?"
After a moment of silence, Brian reached out and held Joanne. "Don't leave."
"I won't go," Joanne said firmly, "I promise, I won't go. Can we go to sleep now?"
She pulled the quilt and lay down. Brian looked at her for a moment and lay next to her. He then quickly held her into his arms, as if it were the only way to make him feel relieved.
Joanne did not struggle, and Brian did not make other moves, which made her feel slightly secure. She then found a comfortable posture in Brian's arms. "I'm sleepy, good night."
Whatever, no matter whether Brian was drunk or anything else, if he wanted her to stay, then she would stay.
Because after he woke up, everything would come back to normal.
Joanne fell asleep in a few minutes. She had no idea how long she had slept, but suddenly was waken up because of a strange movement around her.
"Dad Dad"
Joanne went wide awake from drowsiness after she vaguely heard Brian's panicky voice. She opened her eyes, only to find that Brian had been holding her so tightly that she could barely breathe.
Through the dim light, she saw that Brian had slightly sweated on his forehead.
Did he have a nightmare?
"Brian," Joanne wiped his sweat from his forehead with her hand, "Brian, wake up."
Brian kept frowning during his sleep, and there was no sign of him waking up. Joanne had to hug him. "Brian, what did you dream of?"
If she didn't mishear, Brian was calling his father.
A dozen years ago, Brian's father was the most prestigious lawyer in the judicial profession. However, he died on the spot in a car accident when Brian was 16.
It was all what Joanne knew, which was told by her mother. She also remembered that her mother mentioned that the big brother's father had passed away, which left him in a bad mood, thus she was going to cheer him up.
But why did Iris and Brian move to her grandmother's old house after his father died, and why did they go abroad in such a hurry?
Joanne was too young to tell that there were so many things that didn't make sense. Now thought about it, she realized that everything was totally unreasonable.
However, the accident back then must traumatize him so hard that he was still haunted by the nightmare till now, Joanne thought.
She could only hold him tightly. "Brian, it's all over. It's all over for a long time."
Brian was still asleep, whilst he started to loosen her up bit by bit as if he had heard what Joanne just said. Though his body was no longer tense, Joanne still held him tightly and looked at his face under the dim yellow light.
There was never any expression on this face, and he always stayed calm and collected no matter what he was doing. Joanne thought that he was psychologically strong, but she had never thought about what had led him to become a man like this.
She was aware that they had a similar experience, and they both had lost their loved ones when they were just fifteen or sixteen.
And she knew how painful it was. But she did not turn out to be as cold and unpredictable as Brian, who dominated business in the mall and was awed and respected by most of the people. She was just a medical examiner.
Joanne thought that it might result from the fact that he had experienced something crueler than her, so he could only try his best to stand on the top of the world and prevent the tragedy from repeating itself.
Joanne stroked his face with her slender fingers and found that he gradually stopped sweating. Joanne suddenly recalled that she always hid in Brian's arms when she had nightmares.
Sure enough, there was no free lunch in the world. So tonight, it might be good to make a change.
