Brian was the one who was most familiar with Joanne in the whole ward.
Even if he didn't look at her, he could still notice that she was distracted.
He quietly pinched her hand and urged her to come to her senses.
Joanne suddenly realized what was going on. She looked at Brian and asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"
Brian raised his eyebrows and did not answer her question. Instead, he asked, "Joanne, I should be the one asking you. What are you thinking?"
Joanne lowered her beautiful peach-blossom-like eyes and whispered, "I was thinking about Yuna."
It was necessary for them to avoid mentioning Yuna in front of Wesley.
Brian also lowered his voice and said, "Joanne, I've already told you to leave Yuna's matter to Wesley. You don't need to worry. Just wait for her to come back."
Joanne pursed her lips and said in a reluctant tone, "I... I'll try."
If Joanne nodded and promised that she would no longer worry about Yuna from today on, Brian would not believe her.
He knew Joanne too well. There were some things that she could never ignore.
Therefore, in order to reassure her, he and Wesley had to get rid of Rowdy as soon as possible.
The group of people chatted for a while in Gavin's ward. Brian suddenly whispered in Joanne's ear, "Take Freya and Wendy out for a while. I have something to tell Gavin."
Joanne could vaguely guess that Wendy had better not know what Brian was going to say to Gavin next.
She nodded cooperatively, pulled Wendy's hand, and said naturally, "Let's go out to grab a bite. Let Brian and Gavin have a talk."
Wendy was in a good mood, so she agreed with whatever Joanne said. "Okay!" She followed Joanne out happily, leaving Brian, Wesley, and the others in the ward.
The living room outside the ward was very large. Several sets of sofas were placed around a coffee table, which could accommodate a lot of people.
Wendy had probably picked up Noah's behavior and learned to set herself free. As soon as she came out, she jumped onto the sofa and lay down. She looked at Joanne and said, "Joanne, I suddenly feel like eating everything..."
Joanne understood Wendy's mood at the moment, and of course, she understood her appetite.
When people had a lot on their minds, their appetites would be reduced, and a sumptuous meal would taste insipid to them.
However, when people were in a good mood, their appetites, which had once been reduced, would surge over in an instant, which would make them feel like eating everything.
Wendy should be in a very good mood now.
Freya also sat down. She looked at Wendy and said, "What do you want to eat? I'll ask the staff to send it over."
"There are a lot of things I want to eat." Wendy counted them one by one with her fingers. "I feel like eating soup dumplings, salad, sandwiches, and all kinds of snacks..."
Next, Wendy listed the snacks she wanted to eat.
Freya was speechless.
For the first time, she felt that she had met an opponent in terms of being a foodie. She was confused and didn't know what to ask the staff to send over.
Joanne knew Wendy well, so she was not surprised at all.
She looked in the direction of the ward. She didn't know how long Brian and Gavin were going to talk, so she had to keep Wendy calm.
She took out her mobile phone and said, "Wait a minute. I'll ask the staff to send all the food you mentioned over."
Brian's men were very fast. In less than 20 minutes, a lot of snacks appeared in the living room, which made people's appetites aroused.
"Wendy," Joanne pointed to the food that was almost piled up on the table and said, "Feel free to have them. You can eat as much as you want."
Wendy was eager to taste all the food. "Thank you, Joanne!"
She first opened the package of her favorite soup dumplings and chatted with Joanne while eating. For a moment, she forgot Gavin and Brian in the ward.
After nearly an hour, Brian came out of the room and said lightly, "Gavin fell asleep."
Wendy couldn't react for a moment. She ran back to the room and found that Gavin was indeed asleep.
However, all the data displayed by the monitoring instrument was in the normal range.
Gavin had just had a major operation and was more or less a little weak. He needed much more sleep than a normal person.
In that case, she would just let him sleep.
Wendy ran back to the living room and checked the time. It was already noon.
It was just like the saying that happy times would always pass quickly.
Wendy thought for a moment and suggested, "Let's go to have a proper lunch. I haven't had a good meal with you for a long time!"
Since Gavin got sick, she had mostly been eating with Gavin in the ward or eating alone while watching him in a coma.
Even if she could occasionally have dinner with Joanne and the others, she still had a lot on her mind and a bad appetite.
Now, she finally had nothing to worry about and could enjoy a meal with a relaxed mind.
Joanne was very happy to have lunch with Wendy, but she couldn't help asking, "Wendy, are you sure that you can rest assured while Gavin is alone here?"
"Yeah!" Wendy returned to her usual carefree state. "His operation has been successful. He only needs to recover from his operation wound before he gets to be completely normal again. What can I be worried about? He should be worried over me now, humph!"
Joanne smiled and said, "In that case, let's go to the nearby restaurant."
After lunch, Wendy went back to the hospital alone to take care of Gavin, while the others went home or went back to their apartments.
Brian and Joanne went back to Prime Villas.
After the New Year, the atmosphere of the festival faded, but the sense of spring was getting stronger and stronger. The coldness in the air gradually disappeared, replaced by the warm spring sun and breeze.
Everything seemed to be a beautiful scene.
Joanne held her chin with one hand, tilted her head, and looked at Brian without any scruples.
Brian was holding his iPad and reading the email, but he did not ignore Joanne's gaze.
While reading the email, Brian turned his head and looked at Joanne, saying, "Joanne, I thought you had already known how good-looking I was."
Joanne was speechless.
She had seen narcissistic people, but she had never seen someone as narcissistic as Brian, who was particularly confident.
She was speechless for a moment and then nodded in agreement. "Yes. I already knew that!"
Brian raised his eyebrows and asked, "Then why are you looking at me?"
Joanne continued, "I just want to know what you, Wesley, and Gavin were talking about in the room."
Brian turned off the iPad, looked at Joanne meaningfully, and said, "You know what to do."
This was his usual trick, which Joanne was already familiar with.
She leaned over, kissed Brian on the cheek, and said, "Can you tell me now?"
Brian did not speak immediately. Instead, he looked at Joanne and pretended to be deep in thought.
She suddenly had a bad feeling.
Sure enough, Brian smiled and said, "I'll tell you when it's time to do so."
Joanne didn't know what to say.
She didn't want to admit it, but she had indeed been fooled, or rather, she had been tricked by Brian.
"How scheming!"
Joanne knew that she would get no answer to her question even if she kept asking, so she turned her head and looked out of the window angrily.
Brian was very good-looking, and she indeed never grew tired of looking at him.
But now, she would rather look out of the window.
Brian knew that Joanne was mad, but he did not pamper her. Instead, he turned on the iPad again and continued to read his emails.
After he finished dealing with the e-mails, the car returned to Prime Villas.
Joanne still didn't want to talk to Brian. She got out of the car, ran into the house, and went straight to the children's room on the second floor.
Brian was about to follow in and pamper Joanne. If he failed, he could at least see the two little kids.
However, before he could take a step forward, his assistant called and reminded him that there would be a video conference in five minutes.
He couldn't go to the children's room and turned to the study.
After the video conference, the assistant sent some urgent documents. Brian could only deal with the documents then. He was so busy that he had no time to catch a break, so he naturally did not have time to talk to Joanne.
When Joanne came back, the two little kids were just awake, and Martha was giving milk to Aiden.
Aiden was young and liked to sleep. He had his eyes closed while drinking milk. He could make others think that he had fallen asleep.
Joanne took over Martha's job and picked up Aiden to give him milk.
The little boy seemed to feel that it was his mother. He opened his eyes lazily and stared at Joanne for a while. Then, he loosened the pacifier and made a "hmm "sound as if he wanted to talk to Joanne.
Joanne couldn't help smiling. She lowered her head and kissed the little boy, saying, "Okay now. There you go."
Aiden obediently put the pacifier in his mouth and drank the milk in big gulps.
Joanne pampered the two little kids to sleep, and she was also sleepy. She left them to Martha and left the children's room to go back to her room.
She passed by the study on the way.
Brian still didn't have the door shut tightly. His voice came out faintly. It seemed that he was in a meeting,
Joanne thought to herself. "I'll let him go for the time being on account of his meeting!"
She did not go in to disturb Brian. Instead, she went straight back to the bedroom, changed her clothes, and lay down on the bed. It did not take long for her to fall asleep peacefully.
Brian was so busy that he did not finish his work until four o'clock in the afternoon. He got up and went to the children's room to have a look. The two little kids were sleeping soundly, and Joanne was not in the room.
Martha seemed to know who Brian was looking for and said, "After Aiden and Romy fell asleep, Mrs. Lambert left. I saw her yawning. She should have gone back to the bedroom for sleep."
"Got it."
Brian turned around and walked out of the children's room to go to the bedroom.
As expected, Joanne was in the bedroom.
He didn't know when she had fallen asleep. She was lying lazily on the bed, and the quilt had been kicked to her lower abdomen.
Without the quilt covering her, she probably felt cold and curled up into a ball.
Kicking off the quilt was Joanne's only bad habit. But because of Brian's care, she had not changed it yet, and she did not intend to.
Brian walked over and tucked Joanne in. He sat by the bed and naturally fixed his eyes on her face, unwilling to move his gaze away.
