Chapter 118 Freya, Watch Out

Chris came to take what Joanne bought for him. So she led him upstairs after eating the crayfish.

"Do you still live separately?" Chris asked.

Since Joanne had confessed it to Chris before, now her face just felt hot. And she just simply admitted.

Chris smiled. He thought that Brian would soon fix this problem, but it turned out that he didn't make any moves.

"Please don't tell me if you decided to live together," He stressed, "I've already felt pain every time I realized you are married, like right now."

He was at the same age as Brian, who was six years older than Joanne. He still remembered how he felt when his mother told him that he was going to have a sibling soon.

He was of course repellent at the beginning, since he had been having his mother's undivided love for such a long time, which he took for granted. As soon as the little baby in his mother's belly coming out, the attention was bound to be separated.

Therefore he didn't want Joanne to be born at all.

But she still came to the world as scheduled, giving her first clear cry. Her eyes looked exactly like her mother's, and even more clear, beautiful and harmless. She always put her little fist in her mouth and stared at him like she was laughing.

He started to give in and felt a sense of responsibility as being a brother. Joanne also did not let him down and grew to be more and more beautiful. He remembered once a group of his friends came to the house to play the balls and swim, whilst they eventually would stick around his sister. Someone even called him brother on the spot and said that he wanted to be his brother-in-law, so he just simply beat the kid away.

At that time, he was fifteen years old, and Joanne was nine. She appeared as an angel who accidentally fell into the mortal world, and she always smiled sweetly when she called him brother with a soft voice. He then made up his mind that he would protect Joanne for the rest of his life and he was the only one to do that.

As for those who wanted to be his brother-in-law, they were so out of the league to the little girl he had cared with so much love.

Chris had discovered that the sister he had been protected behind his back was not as vulnerable as he thought when their mother suddenly passed away. She sat in front of her mother's grave to accept her death, which enabled her to grow up overnight.

At that time, he was studying in the United States, and he once wanted to drop out of the school since he was not able to take Joanne to live with him. He also worried that Joanne would be bullied by Mia and her mother and she couldn't take good care of herself, as well as those guys who wanted to take advantage of her.

But 15-year-old Joanne said to him, "Brother, go back to school. I promise you, I won't let anyone bully me, and I will live as if you and mother were still with me."

At that time, she showed the resolution in her eyes that did not match her age.

He was once curious about what was supporting his sister.

A few years later, he noticed the secret of Joanne-she secretly liked Brian.

She didn't necessarily read the news and magazines of him, but she would repeatedly read the reports of Brian, even if it only mentioned his name. Every time he pretended to inadvertently mention Brian, her eyes would light up unlike she used to be, and she would carefully ask about Brian's status like she just asked a casual question.

Then he finally realized that his sister had grown up to dare to face the cold body with a scalpel, and also had a crush on someone. He also understood that he could not keep her behind him forever, because there would be another person who would hold her in his arms.

Fortunately, Joanne picked Brian.

So before Joanne and Brian hadn't seen anyone else, he and Iris decided to get them married quickly.

As for the connection... he believed that they would gradually have it between them day by day.

Joanne put the things of Chris into two bags. "Why painful? I'm not married to a distant place. If you miss me, you can come to see me at any time."

"You don't understand. I watched you when you were born and grow up bit by bit, I haven't realized that you are already a big girl. And you suddenly became the wife of others and the 'Mrs. Lambert' in the newspaper," Chris sighed heavily. "I feel like Brian took a piece of meat from me. You know I have never lost to him in business, but this time I'm almost broke."

Joanne smiled. "I don't really know what's going to happen between him and me, maybe..."

Chris knew what she wanted to say and interrupted her. "Joanne, don't be so pessimistic at first. Sometimes... you can take the initiative. Believe me, it must work well on Brian."

Joanne relentlessly rebutted. "Brother, you are the last one to talk about the initiative." Since Freya had been active for more than ten years, did it work?

Chris was embarrassed and then wisely ended the conversation. He then accidentally saw the tie box on Joanne's bed and reached for it. "Is this also mine?"

Joanne quickly took it back before he saw the tie inside. "No... yes..."

"It's for Brian, right?" Chris picked up the bag and sighed heavily while he left the room and went downstairs.

Joanne followed. "Are you leaving?"

"I saw Simon and others were chatting outside when I came, thus I assumed that they must do it on purpose to avoid you and Brian," Chris said, "your brother is not interested in being the fifth wheel."

Joanne felt embarrassed. "It's still early, it must be so boring if you go back so soon. What about grabbing a meal with Freya?"

She regretted it as soon as she said that. "But she has training today, and I heard that it will be over until ten in the evening. So I guess you can't really reach her."

Chris asked, "Isn't it the weekend?"

"Brian said that he wanted Freya to have her debut soon, and she was also willing to do so, thus she has intensified her training. Even on weekends, she doesn't have a break." Joanne carefully observed Chris's face, trying to find a trace of concern in his eyes.

But she found nothing.

Chris then got into the car and put things on the passenger's seat. "This is her own choice, it is not my business. Gotta go."

Joanne waved her hand and watched his car drive out of her sight, and then went back to the house.

The white Porsche drove out of the villa area towards the endless highway.

Chris realized that Joanne was right that he did have nowhere to go except staying at home surrounded by boredom.

In fact, he could just go somewhere, because he had a group of friends in several bars and nightclubs, and there were many girls in his phone he could call for a ride.

But in the end, he drove the car to the company.

He had long been lingering in the places like that, which were used to fool along and waste time. But now he was no longer suitable for such a thing. As for a date... He didn't want to date anyone.

So he turned off the phone and parked the car in front of the company.

The security guard was surprised to see him. "Boss Scott."

He nodded and entered the special elevator, going straight to the office.

The secretarial office and the assistant's office were all black on the weekends. He pushed the door of his office and was drowning in the darkness. However, the riverside night was so bright that it was even dazzling.

He deliberately did not turn on the lights, and walked to the desk and sat down in the light from the opposite office building. He then skillfully lit a cigarette and enjoyed the night view of the city, but suddenly he was kind of envious of Brian.

The guy used to live a life like his right now, working from day to night, and he only commuted between home and workplace. He also occasionally attended some wine parties, and played some sports, but never deliberately spent a weekend to relax.

But since he got married, he rarely worked overtime, and he never worked at the company on weekends.

At the end of the day, who was willing to torture themselves facing all the papers and the computer screen at the workplace on the weekend when he had already gotten a sweet wife?

Chris put out the cigarette and turned on the lights, then the bright light sprinkled from the top of his head, and also lit up the spacious office out of the darkness. He then turned on his computer to go through the files like what he had been doing on weekdays.

Time flew when he was totally occupied in the work, and it was already ten o'clock.

Joanne used to urge him to not smoke, and now she focused on his work and rest so that he would not stay up late anymore. As time passed, he did cultivate the habit of keeping the early hours. Noticing it was late, he shut down the computer and went home.

While driving, he unconsciously passed Lambert Group Media Co. . He could obviously go directly to the apartment, why did he take a detour?

Chris was secretly annoyed, but saw a familiar figure at the door of the company.

Freya.

she wore a blue short skirt, in the middle of the night, revealing her long legs and face without makeup, which was still enchanting like a fairy fox.

She did not drive, so she stopped a taxi and got in the car.

Was she out of her mind? Chris almost went over and dragged Freya out of the taxi. How could she get into a taxi when she dressed like this so late at night?

He unconsciously started the car, but he did not follow the taxi, technically. Freya now lived in her parents' house. Thus, if he went back to his villa in the suburbs, he needed to take the same route too.

Out of the urban area, there were only few vehicles on the road. Chris had been driving behind the taxi. After another five minutes, when the reached the intersection, the taxi should take a turn into another road.

But it was unexpected to him that the green taxi took a turn into a small trail.

That path led to the mountain. Since it was a barren mountain, there was almost no car on the road, not to mention people. Was Freya crazy?

Chris did not have the time to think, but changed lanes and followed the taxi, his eyes growing darker and darker...

But actually, Freya knew nothing about it.

At six o'clock this morning, she was woken up by the coach's call and was asked to go to the company before 7:30 a.m. She then got off the bed and ate breakfast, and asked the driver to send her to the company. She took an hour of sleep on the road and got into the intense training after she woke up.

Two hours of fitness stretching, half a day of the cat walking, and a long time of stage knowledge learning made her feel like her soul was of her body and became a little unconscious from exhaustion when she left the company. Therefore, after she told the driver her address, she went straight to sleep.

She couldn't notice that the driver kept looking at her from the rearview mirror when she was sleeping, and the middle-aged man with cross-grained features on his face was secretly swallowing his saliva.

She knew nothing when the taxi drove to the barren hill.

She woke up because she felt something unusual on her body.

There was something lingering on her face and body, and hot breaths surrounded her neck, with a bad smell of sweat.

She suddenly realized something, and got sober as if she had been hit by a lightning strike. At some point, the obese taxi driver climbed on her, and was trying to unzip her dress.

"Ahhhh!"

The horrified screams echoed in the mountain at night. Freya subconsciously pushed the man away, but she couldn't since he was too heavy.

She thought, she must be damned tonight.
