A sigh escaped from Brian's lips. He held her and put his chin on her skinny shoulder.
In fact, her shoulder was so skinny that there was no extra flesh. It was not comfortable, but Brian still wanted to lay his head on it to pass his weight to her. He wrapped his arms around her waist to put down the weight on his shoulder for a brief time.
Many times, Joanne supported him and gave him strength. However, right now, he just wanted to hold her in his arms to feel her body.
"Actually, I'm in a bad mood too." Joanne's hands crawled on his back to his shoulders. "When you brought up your dad, I was thinking of my mom. She left so suddenly that it completely changed my life and my everything. My dad became the enemy of my brother and me. You can't imagine how awful it is to fall out with your families."
"But the change didn't ruin me. I know that my mom is watching over me up there, so I tell her that I'm fine and I'm in safe hands every day to make her feel alright, as if she were still by my side."
Brian held her even tighter. "Joanne, come what may, as long as I'm still alive, I won't let anything happen to you."
Joanne knitted her beautiful brows. "As long as you're still alive? Of course you'll grow old and ugly with me. I want to see the way your teeth fall out, because it must be... hmm..."
Brian suddenly kissed on her lips. Then, she was longer holding Brian. Instead, Brian cuddled her completely in his arms. His warm and passionate kisses were washing over her and immediately drowned her.
His warm lips still taste like aromatic wine. In fact, Joanne did not drink much, but she felt somewhat drunk. Her body slowly fell into Brian's arms and she started involuntarily responded his kisses.
It was not the first time that they had kissed, but this was the first time that both of them had felt spontaneous and done it willingly. They both had expected this and after it started, they responded to each other. They hugged and breathed each other's breath, as if they could kiss until the world ended.
However, Joanne still had not learned how to breathe right, so soon she was out of breath. Brian kissed her deeply for a few times and let go of her.
This was also the first time that after a series of passionate kisses, they had not acted awkward or embarrassed.
Warm lights cast on the wine cabinet, leaving Joanne's blossom-like eyes blurry. She slightly raised the corner of her lips and swirled the drink in front of Brian. "You said that I can't drink outside home, I remember that. But now I'm home and you're with me, can I drink as I like?"
Brian squinted his narrow eyes. "Don't you think I might do something to you if you get drunk?"
Joanne just smiled. "If both of us get drunk, actually, nothing will happen. Those cheesy soap operas are nothing real!"
Brian sighed-she was still too naive. Did the weak her really think he'll be as drunk as her?
Someone who still yet to know the cruel world clinked her glass on his. She took a shot and drank a lesser half of it. Tasting the wine's unique flavour, she involuntarily licked her lips.
The scarlet tip of her tongue was moist and reflecting the lights, appearing alluring in the warm lights. Brian almost flustered and looked away, and he managed to suppress the emotion by another sip of wine.
Joanne was really weak in terms of drinking, so soon she was feeling tipsy. However, she tried to stay sober to talk with him. "You dad must have hoped that you'll have a beautiful life too, so you don't need to get upset..."
Brian ruffled her hair. "You're drunk."
Joanne answered with a "yes" and shook her head, because she found there were many... Brian before her.
"Brian..." She reached out for him. "Hmm, there's so many you. I think... I'm really drunk..."
Brian took her hand to let her lean against him. "I'll take you to the bedroom."
Joanne grinned and threw herself into Brian's arms like a coy girl. "I want you to take me."
She was really drunk, otherwise, she would not have played coy in front of him like this.
Thus, Brian had to pick Joanne up. However, she seemed to tease him by wriggling in his arms, making his heart itchy and his muscles stiff.
In the end, she grinned wickedly and rubbed her hands against his playfully. That was when Brian finally knew for sure that she did it deliberately.
"Try that again." Brian gently reminded her. "Remember that I'm not drunk. If I want to do something to you, you can't resist it at all."
Joanne widened her eyes and nodded. She almost stopped in an instant and mumbled like a misbehaving kid. "Hubby, I was wrong..."
Maybe it was because of the alcohol, her voice sounded even sultrier than usual. She was a little tipsy and looked cuter. Her bright eyes reminded people of those of innocent kittens. Brian found it even harder to resist than her wriggling in his arms. Thus, he had to pick up the pace to send her back to the bedroom.
When he finally lay her down on the bed, she actually started to cry and shouted "no" nonstop.
"I don't think I'll let you drink even at home!" Brian had to squat down by the bed to comfort her. "Don't cry. Sleep well. I won't do anything to you."
"I don't... I don't want..." Su Jian seemed to totally ignore his words.
Brian was feeling a headache and rubbed his temple. "You don't want what?"
Joanne suddenly fell silent and looked into him. Then, she smiled. "Honey, I don't want to sleep alone."
In fact, she was only wearing a typical style of cotton pajamas. However, at the moment, Brian found her as sexy as a tempting kitten, and the emotion inside him almost stopped him from thinking rationally to have the one he had always craved for.
However, in the end, his remaining will kept him awake.
"I'm here with you." His voice was much lower than before. "You're not sleeping alone. Don't be afraid. Close your eyes, OK?"
Joanne pursed her lips, upset. "Why don't you sleep on the bed with me?"
Brian swallowed. "Joanne..." "Doesn't she know that this is like an invitation?"
"You don't love me, right?" Apparently, Joanne did not know it, because her eyes turned red and she suddenly acted like a spoiled little girl. "I knew it, you love someone else."
Brian sighed and kissed her between her brows. Then, she finally stopped crying and just stared at her with an upset face.
Thus, he had to lie on the bed to hold Joanne into his arms. "I won't love anyone else. You just sleep well, OK?"
Like a kid who finally got their favorite candies, Joanne happily held Brian's waist and buried her face in his arms. She then kissed him and mumbled in a soft voice that could almost trap people. "Honey..."
Brian suddenly felt pleased. He was caressing her head, wanting to take back what he just said-Sometimes, it was OK for Joanne to drink a little.
However, the drunk Joanne was much more energetic than he had imagined.
She suddenly crawled out of the quilt, staring at him with a pair of deer eyes like glowing onyx in the dark. "Honey, I've got something for you!"
Brian was intrigued. "Show me."
Joanne obediently took out a box from the bedside table and presented it in front of him like a piece of treasure. "Open it, cost almost a month's salary."
Brian opened it and found it was the tie. No wonder that when he asked her that if they should buy it, she said it did not suit Chris.
It turned out that she thought it suited him.
Joanne bent down near to him, snickering. "I bought it after I got my milk tea. What do you think? Do you like it?"
"Yes, I do." Brian readily pulled her into his arms and kissed her on the forehead. "It's late. Go to sleep."
Joanne would not stop wriggling. "Then wear it tomorrow for me, OK?"
"OK." Joanne had to promise her. "I'll put on the tie tomorrow."
Satisfied, Joanne finally smiled and adjust her position in Brian's arms to sleep comfortably. Then, she fell asleep in a good mood.
After making sure that she would not bolt up again, Brian decided to lay her down to put away the tie. However, just when he moved, she suddenly clung to him, mumbling. "Don't go... don't."
Her voice was as soft as water that flowed into his chest and soaked his heart. This was the first time that he had decided to flow with it-He could resist them all, but not the one in his arms. She was the poison of his life.
They both slept well that night.
For the past year, Joanne was accustomed to waking up early on weekdays, so she slowly woke up nearly at 6 o'clock. However, she found her head heavy and felt very uncomfortable.
She felt like she was leaning against something, which was rather soothing though. Also, she was smelling something familiar that she found assuring and she felt that she could sleep on like this forever...
However, something was slightly wrong.
She recalled hard with her eyes closed and everything last night slowly came back to her mind-she accidentally got drunk and begged Brian to take her back to the bedroom, and then... then...
Joanne gasped and opened her eyes in terror, totally sober now.
As expected, Brian was holding her, and her hands... were also wrapping around his waist.
It was too late to regret now, so she had to draw back her hands first. Next, she would sneak out of the room without waking up Brian.
However, one must know that Brian could not be more vigilant. Just when she retracted her hands, he opened his eyes and smiled. Then, he just cast a kiss on his forehead. "Morning."
Joanne's body froze for a second and forced a smile. "... Morning. Well, last night, I... I... Actually, I didn't usually act like that when I was drunk in front of other people! I'd only fall asleep!"
"Do you mean that you'll only get coy when you get drunk with me?" Brian ruffled her hair. "Good girl."
"..." Su Jian was speechless, what was in Brian's mind! Why did she get the feeling that... she was making things worse?
She was supposed to explain more, but finally gave up upon seeing Brian's meaningful smile-Brian did not think as the normal people did. He might get a deeper meaning in whatever she said and make things even awkward.
"I... I'll go brush my teeth."
She hopped off the bed and rushed into the bathroom.
Brian looked at her figure and raised his lips. Then, he went back to his own room to wash himself as well.
In the bathroom.
Joanne stared at herself in the mirror and thought of everything that happened last night. She ruffled her hair, upset. Then, she let out a long howl in her heart-
Calling him honey all the time and begging him to be with her and cuddle her?... How degenerate she had been! Could she get her good image back somehow?
She would never drink with Brian anymore!
