Chapter 130 Can't Be More Silly

In this way, Gavin actually did it deliberately to piss Chris?

Joanne suddenly felt that these people were all sophisticated. So she thought that she'd better eat her dinner and do not mess with anyone.

But... some dishes were too far to reach, and she was afraid to do that...

Though she usually seemed to be fearless, but these people were all Brian's friends, who were really close to him. She had to pay attention to her actions, so she couldn't reach with the chopsticks stretching out too far, like what she did when she ate with Brian.

"What do you want to eat?" Brian suddenly asked her.

She looked at his slender hand and felt like she was about to realize her dream of having the delicious. "Braised prawns!"

Brian picked two for her and she ate with great satisfaction. Then she felt free to ask Brian to pick up the dishes she wanted.

The dignified President Lambert had never served people with dish, so others could just watch and pretended to be natural without saying anything.

After the meal, several guys set up a table and started to play cards. Joanne and Freya were really confused since they did not understand the rules. Thus Joanne quitted and took Freya to the kitchen.

"What to do in the kitchen?" Freya pointed to the garden outside, "There is such a big garden, why don't we go out and take a walk?"

"I noticed that Gavin and those guys only brought some wine without any food," Joanne opened the refrigerator and took out something like lotus roots and edamame, "they will definitely be hungry when they watch the game tomorrow morning, so I'm going to prepare them something to eat."

"Wow," Freya sincerely praised, "Joanne, I would definitely marry you if I were a man."

Joanne boiled the edamame. "I have already married. If you become Brian in the next life, I will marry you."

Freya rolled up her sleeves to help. "Anyway, you still like Brian."

Joanne paused and smiled helplessly. "I can do nothing about it. Liking him is as natural as breathing to me."

"I saw him picking up dishes for you, so I have great expectation on you guys!" Freya patted on Joanne's shoulder, "Come on!"

Joanne soaked the washed edamame with light salt water and went to prepare the spices. She then sharpened the knife and cut the lotus root. "If I can't conquer Brian, I have to conquer his stomach!"

They spent more than an hour to make the crispy, honeydew lotus root and corned edamame. Joanne also fried some peanuts. They were afraid that the food might not be enough for those guys, so she and Freya also made some small baking snacks with the oven.

When the snacks were cooked, Joanne heard the familiar footsteps getting closer and closer and she knew it was Brian without thinking. Sure enough he held her from behind. "What did you make?"

Joanne hand-picked the lotus root and fed it to Brian. "How about the taste?"

Brian did not know that she could cook these small snacks. So he took a bite, and found out that it was better than what people sold in the restaurants.

He asked her. "Who did you learn it from?"

"I knew the recipe once I taste it in the restaurant," Joanne was unaware that it was an unusual skill, so she said it in a very easy and normal way, "I don't have to learn at all. Right, aren't you playing cards?"

Brian said. "I win too much, they won't let me play."

Joanne thought for a moment and nodded solemnly. "... We really should not bully the guests."

Brian smiled. "It's not early, do you want to go back to the room to sleep?"

She was actually a bit sleepy, but couldn't help tasting the little cake when she saw them on the baking tray. The flavor was unexpectedly well, which was better than she cooked before. She couldn't help cheering. "I couldn't love myself more!"

Brian bowed and ate the little half left in her hand. The cake was fragrant and soft, but not in a greasy way. It slowly melted in the mouth, and remained the lips and teeth with fragrance. Brian thought it was one of the few bests he had tasted.

He touched Joanne on her head. "Compared with medical examiner, maybe you are more suitable to be a pastry chef."

Joanne was embarrassed.

Not because he ridiculed her to be a pastry chef, but... he just ate the half that she had eaten! There was her saliva on it! Besides... didn't he like sweets?

Or he just liked the sweets she made?

Joanne felt sweet deep down in her heart, but pouted. "I don't want to be a pastry chef. So you can see me wearing a chef hat every day. And I'll be oily and it doesn't look good!"

Brian took her out by holding her hand, when Joanne discovered that Freya had already sat at the table and played the card excitedly. "Bawan!" Chris stood behind her to help.

"Joanne, come here," Freya excitedly waved, "I can almost play! I also won Gavin 100 dollars hahahaha..."

"Would you like to play for a while?" Brian said, "I can teach you."

Joanne thought about it and shook her head. "I'd rather not, what if I learned and started to gamble and ruin the family?"

Brian raised his eyebrows, "The family will not be ruined even if you lose one million a day."

Joanne, "... You won."

She walked over, "You have fun, we are going to sleep."

Those people were all giddy because of playing the cards, so they waved to Joanne, "Good night, sister-in-law!" Freya also followed, "Good night, landlady!"

Joanne couldn't help smiling and gently pulled Brian's sleeve. "I'll go back to the room."

Brian responsed. Watching Joanne's figure disappearing into the stairway, Wesley ridiculed him leisurely. "You can follow up if you can't help. It makes no difference on viewing if watching the game without you, anyway."

Brian kicked Gavin, so he understood tacitly and gave the seat to Brian.

In the next game, Wesley lost a house to Brian, as well as a subsidiary hotpot restaurant in Arlington.

Freya looked stunned. "Wow, boss, are you the reincarnation of gambling god?"

Brian looked so relaxed like he hadn't been through any battles. He rose lightly and gave back the seat to Gavin.

"Hey wait!" Freya gestured Gavin not to sit down, "The boss just won, I think that seat must be lucky, do you mind changing the seats? I..."

Her head was suddenly hit by Chris before she even finished. He said before she went angry. "The position can't be changed easily when playing cards. I am teaching you rules."

Freya rubbed her head, which felt hurt. "Then teach like you mean it, why did you hit my head? Can you take the responsibility if you lowered my IQ?"

Chris smiled. "Relax, it won't- your IQ can't be lower."

"You..."

Freya, who believed herself to be eloquent, was so pissed that she could even spit blood. Gavin had to stand up and mediate the dispute, "It's just playing cards, you are not strangers, why so serious? Come, Freya, I'll give you my seat."

Freya smiled smugly toward Brian, and changed her position with Gavin happily.

She had already learned all from Chris, and started playing really fast. Although she had not won the money, she didn't lose too much.

"Way to go, Freya," Gavin praised her generously, "I didn't learn this fast like you."

Freya got more and more addicted, and she gradually didn't need guidance from Chris. She was too excited and didn't feel sleepy at all.

At one o'clock in the morning, Chris urged her. "You go take a nap, I'll wake you up when the game starts."

"No," Freya decisively played a card, "I want to win tonight!"

After another round, Wesley said suddenly. "There is a replay of the last game, do you want to go up and watch?"

Struggling between the game and the mahjong, Freya finally chose the former. Seeing Chris and them going upstairs, she said to them. "Joanne made you something to eat, let's bring them up from the kitchen."

Gavin first rushed into the kitchen, and couldn't help eating the honeydew lotus root. He said after a while, "Damn, Freya, do you have other girlfriends like Joanne? Introduce them to me!"

"Why would I do that?" Freya said with a smile, "To be girlfriend with you?"

"Out!" Gavin pushed her, "Of course I'll treat her like what our boss did- marry her to make her my wife!"

"It's a pity," Freya shook her head, and took a small bite of the lotus root, "there is only one Joanne in this world, and only our boss could have the luck."

Brian heard exactly what they said. "What are you still waiting for?"

"Coming!"

They rushed upstairs with each having a handful of snacks, talking and laughing, but they suddenly went quiet when they were in the corridor on the second floor.

They were all afraid of waking up Joanne.

The replay didn't start when they turned on the big screen and chose the channel. Brian got up and said, "I'll be back soon."

"It starts soon," Gavin asked, "where are you going?"

"Isn't the answer obvious?" Wesley smiled, "Where else will he go besides going checking his wife?"

Since the audio-visual room was soundproof, so they were all laughing and making fun of him. Brian ignored them and went straight out.

In fact, Wesley was right. He went out to see if Joanne was asleep.

He found the reading light on her bed was still open after he opened her door, and there was a pillow and a book on the floor. The quilt was half dropped on the floor, and she slept in a strange position.

Brian sighed and helped her put the book and the pillow. He also arranged the quilt for her. Then she suddenly grabbed his hand in her sleep.

She just held it tightly without making any sound and tried to drag it over as a pillow, as if it would make her feel at ease.

Brian tried to pull his hand back, but she suddenly cried a bit and kicked off the quilt with anger.

He had to stay and repented why did he come in to find trouble. He thus pulled a chair to sit next to the bed and looked at her.

She always looked like a child when she was sleeping and had shallow breaths quietly. Her long eyelashes hung so peacefully that people couldn't help touching her for just a little bit.

After a while, Joanne seemed to be able to let go of his hand. Brian tried again to pull back his hand and finally succeeded.

He tucked her in and returned to the audio-visual room. As soon as he opened the door, he heard that Freya and Gavin were being too excited and cheering for the game, so he closed the door immediately.

Chris asked. "Is Joanne sleeping?"

"Yes." He looked at the plates on the coffee table that the lotus roots and peanuts were almost eaten up.

"If I didn't stop them, the edamame and the snacks were all gone," Freya took a sip of beer and complained about those men, "especially Gavin, have you not eaten all day?"

Gavin went angry. "I just haven't eaten such delicious lotus roots all day!"

Freya snorted and looked at Brian. "Don't you go to see Joanne? How come... so fast?"
