Chapter 144 I Do Not Accept an Apology

Freya was lying on his sofa and looking at the mobile phone, while the phone shows the number of Chris.

Another day had passed, would Chris feel better? Should she find him?

When she was thinking, the doorbell rang in a row, and she walked over and saw Chris through the looking-through hole on the door.

"Chris!" She was a little surprised and did not hesitate to open the door. "I just wanted to see you!" She thought that Chris finally wanted to talk to her.

"Freya."

However, Chris's voice was so cold that it almost broke into her bone marrow, and his eyes were so sullen that they scared her immediately.

Freya discovered his abnormality, "What happened to you?"

"What did you say to Travis at the party?" Chris pushed Freya forward, and he slammed the door shut. "What did you tell him?"

If it weren't for that Jack had reminded him, Travis wouldn't even have suspected Freya. Or precisely, he did not want to think in that way in the first place.

He would rather be betrayed by the most trusted subordinates.

"I..." Freya looked at the sullen Chris. For the first time, she was afraid of him. "Tell me what happened first, OK?" Why are you doing this?"

"The document you translated was leaked to Travis." Chris said, "Travis signed the contract with the Japanese company with the plan we made."

"You think that..."

"Bang", A thunder boomed in Freya's mind, and the word "I" was stuck in her throat.

She remembered that on the night of the celebration, she was drunk, and she talked with Travis. She said a lot of things and seemed to have mentioned Chris and his company. But thinking about it now, she did not know what specific thing she had told Travis.

She could only remember that she did mention Chris's company.

Therefore, Chris's suspicion did not come out of nowhere. Now even she started to doubt herself.

When she was a child, Freya often made troubles. She either hit others' kids or caught up in a fight with them. Her parents had to take her to others' house to apologize.

However, those things could be mended, but this time, she could not imagine how much loss she had caused to Everbridge Group, and even if she did, she could not afford the huge amount of money.

With hands shaking, she dialed Travis's number. The moment he picked up the call, she asked, "What did I say to you that night? What did I tell you?"

"You finally remembered?" Travis said, "Freya, on that night, you've told me everything you should and shouldn't have said. You've told me everything about Chris."

Sure enough, she told him...

Feeling as if the strength of her entire body had been taken away, Freya's mobile phone slipped down to the ground. When she looked at Chris, her eyes had already been red. "I am sorry."

"..." Chris did not speak, because he suddenly regretted coming to Freya. He should check inside the company. If everyone was innocent, then it should be treated as a pending case. He should never know the truth and never drag Freya into this.

Freya had never seen Chris like this. His eyes had always been as calm as sea, but now, they were full of struggle. He seemed to want to stand by her, but at the end of the day, he had to be far away from her.

"I am sorry." She grabbed Chris's hand. "I was drunk that night. I didn't mean it. I... Chris, sorry, I'm sorry..."

In the end, she seemed to have been saying the word "sorry" the entire time, because she really was and because this mistake cannot be made up. She also knew that this word actually did not help anything, but all she had was the word "sorry".

"The entire company knows that you translated the document." Chris smiled and laughed at himself. "Freya, I took you to the company and spread rumors. I wanted them to think we were together." But I never meant to create such an accident."

Freya felt as if an awl were pounding on her heart. She grabbed Chris's hand and fell in front of him powerlessly. She couldn't say anything, just clinging to his hand.

"Sorry, blame me, or yell at me. You can do whatever you want to me." She wanted to say something like that, but she was drowned in a sea of repent. Something stuck in her throat, and her eyes felt hot. She could say a single word, and she felt as if she were dying at the moment.

She finally cried out, like a ten-year-old child who made irreparable mistakes. She cried and cried until her forehead felt numb and until she became breathless. She could only gasp for air and really could not say a word anymore.

Chris squatted down and wiped the tears on her face. "Freya, I don't blame you."

Freya looked at him and then cried louder and sobbed even harder, tears like water pouring out of the edge of a dam.

She knew that Chris was desperate. If he didn't blame her at all, maybe that meant he wouldn't want her forever.

The entire company knew that she translated the document. If Chris was still with her, who else would still serve him? How many people would have the idea of changing jobs and resigning? If someone walked away with an entire team, the damage caused to Everbridge Group was immeasurable.

The hardest thing to save in the world was a cold heart. Chris could not let the staff be disappointed in him.

"Su," she said, she had to breathe every time she said a single word. Her forehead felt so numb that she almost went unconscious. Her eyes were bloodshot. She only subconsciously grasped Chris's hand. "Chris, do-don-don't, don't go."

Chris tucked her hair wet from tears behind her ear. "I still have something to attend to in the company."

"Don't, don't go." Freya sobbed and grabbed his hand so tightly because she was so afraid that he would leave her just like that. "Please, don't go."

"Freya, Travis is also very important to you, isn't he? Otherwise, on that day when I picked up a fight with him, you wouldn't have rushed to protect him from me. You're afraid that I would hurt him." Chris got rid of Freya's hand bit by bit. "I was angry that you went to celebrate with him behind my back. Now I am not."

"Because he's completely ignored me?"

"No." Freya shook her head desperately and tried hard to explain, but she couldn't breathe, nor could she said any complete sentence. She first knew what despair felt like.

Chris finally broke away from her hand and got up to leave.

Freya looked at the back of Chris, and called his name thousands of times in her heart, but she couldn't make a sound. She could only cry until her forehead felt so numb that she almost fainted, and she sobbed so hard that she might stop breathing at any second.

Chris never looked back. He closed the door for Freya and entered the elevator.

When the elevator door slowly closed, he closed his eyes, and when he reopened them, nothing strange could be detected on his face. However, if one looked carefully, he could see that his eyes were red.

When he left, he closed the door very gently. However, Freya seemed to hear a pound in her heart. At that moment, the dull pain spread from her heart. She was kneeling on the ground and could not make a sound anymore. She could only painfully moan like a baby.

When people were extremely sad and remorse, they did not want to talk to anyone, even their best friend, so she did not call Joanne.

It was almost eight o'clock in the night, and Freya was sitting on the carpet beside the sofa, tears still falling from her eyes, but she was just like a doll without a soul, motionless, expressionless.

She was wrong, and she had been wrong for so many years.

She should not have casually made a so-called "friend". She should not have got drunk with them. If she had listened to her father and had been a real lady, she would not have leaked Chris's plan to Travis. Today, all of this would not have happened.

She regretted, but it was too late.

She used to be betrayed by some friends, but as long as that person was not Joanne, she could treat it lightly. Anyway, she had so many friends, and what was the difference if she got one less of them?

It was not that she did not want to blame them, but she really did not feel anything, just like the way Chris was not angry with her anymore.

But now, she hated Travis, and she had never hated a person so much before. She thought that Travis indeed was a playboy, but he was still an honest person deep down, Never did she e he actually used this method.

Freya suddenly stood up from the ground, went into the kitchen and put a knife into her bag. Then, he washed her face and went out.

She drove the car so fast that it arrived at Travis's apartment in less than 10 minutes.

She had never been to Travis's place before, so when she said that she wanted to visit room 1203, the administrator smiled meaningfully. "Mr. Qin just came back."

Freya just smiled back and went upstairs with her bag. When she stepped out of the elevator, she fished out the knife from her bag and stuck it on Travis's door. "Travis! Open the door!"

The tip of the knife bit deeply into the door, and she pulled it out again and struck again. "Travis! Open the door right now!"

Travis heard the noise and rushed out to open the door. Before he saw the face of Freya, he found a knife shaking in front of his face. He repeatedly retreated. "Freya, what are you doing! Can you calm down!"

"Calm down?" Freya laughed, but her voice was full of despair. "Travis, Chris and I are finally getting somewhere, but you've completely ruined it. No, I should blame it on myself. But I hate you. I believed in you so much, why did you have to use such a method to compete with Chris? Why did you have to use Chris's plan? Travis, he won't want me anymore, he won't..."

At the end of the day, she cried again, and it was the first time that Travis saw her tears.

She had always been a lively person without any string attached. She was always smiling like she had not had a real heart. She was like a child who grew up in a honey pot and did not know any human suffering of the world. Travis never thought that she would cry one day, and she actually cried so sad and desperate.

"Freya..." Travis approached her and wanted to wipe away the tears on her face.

"Don't come any closer!" Freya waved the knife. "Travis, I've trusted some wrong people, but I didn't expect that you're one of them! I regret knowing you, and being your friend. But it's too late, Chris has already dumped me..." In the middle of the sentence, her tears came out again, downcast.

"Wow! What's happening?" The aunt next door probably heard the noise Freya made. When she came out to check at it, she immediately shrank back behind the door. "Wei, what's the matter?"

"Martha, it's nothing. Just go back." Travis tried to send his elder neighbor away. "She's my friend, and we've got something to..."

"Shut up!" Freya waved his knife to Travis. "Travis, we will not know it from now on, or I will see you, I will definitely want to kill you!" Stop saying that I am your friend!

Martha, who was next door, was completely scared, and bang closed the door and went back to the house.

"Freya," Travis said weakly, "I can only apologize to you."

"apologize?" Freya smiled again. She remembered that she had fallen to the ground and sang aloud with Chris, but is it useful? Can the loss of the Cheng'an Group be recovered? Will she dare to set foot on the Chengan Group in the future?

"I don't accept your apology." She said one word at a time, "Travis, if you accidentally meet me someday, remember not to say hello to me."
