Chapter 201 A Birthday Present from Rosalyn

Joanne patted her cheek hard-

"Wake up, you still want to know what Brian wants for his birthday! What are you fantasizing about?"

However, people like Brian probably had already got what he wanted long ago. Even if she got to know what he wanted, she probably could afford them.

Thinking like that, Joanne covered her face in pain and leaned back to let herself slouch on the outdoor lounge chair.

Brian had just come back from the course and happened to see Joanne twist her body like this. He called her. "Joanne, what happened?"

Joanne was startled by Brian's voice that popped out of nowhere. She immediately got up and sat straight and started to cough. "Nothing."

"Do you hate staying here?" Brian took Joanne's action as a sign of impatience.

"No, it's good here." Joanne licked her lips. "I am just thinking about things."

She saw Brian's forehead was covered with beads of sweat. She was quick to find that and fetched a towel. She naturally stood up to help Brian dry the sweat.

They began to consider such intimate interactions average, starting from some point in their daily life. None of them deemed this kind of actions inappropriate. However, it would make the single dogs jealous.

Gavin came over after a round of golf and snarled at Brian and Joanne, dissatisfied with them. "Bowwow, bowwow..."

People who knew the reason laughed hysterically. Joanne fell speechless for a moment and then told Brian. "You assistant... really works hard."

"Don't mind him." Brian held Joanne's hand. "Let's go back first."

Joanne obediently nodded and followed Brian to the entrance of the stadium.

Gavin, who was still single, looked at their backs in pairs, and after some serious consideration, he made a very serious decision. "I have to go find a wife."

Otherwise, every day, he would be abused in so many ways and he felt so tired.

On the other hand, Brian and Joanne returned home in less than twenty minutes.

Brian had a video conference at eleven o'clock. After he came back for a bath and changed his clothes, it was just the right time. Joanne had nothing to do so she sat on the sofa in the living room and had her fruit while watching TV.

After more than an hour, Simon came in with a parcel. "Young Madam, you have an international express mail."

International express mail?

In the two years when Joanne was studying abroad, although she did not make too many friends, she still had some friends and had been in touch with some of those good friends. They would send something from time to time, such as some kind of food she liked very much, or some gadgets she usually collected.

Thus, this time, she didn't think much about it. She took a pair of scissors and unpackaged the express mail. She saw a golf club.

She swore that she did not play golf. People who knew her would not send this to her but people who did not know her would not send her anything.

Joanne suddenly had a bad hunch-May be the receiver was not her?

Checking the waybill, and as expected, the recipient was-Brian.

Then, it made sense for him to receive the club, but the sender was... Rosalyn?

Joanne was stunned, and at this moment, a card fell out of the package. She did not deliberately peek, but a few lines on the card have jumped into her pupils-

Brian, happy birthday. I know you've always wanted this club and now I bought it for you. Hope you like it.

Then, she signed intimately: Rosalyn.

Hmm, she unpackaged something that Rosalyn sent to Brian...

Joanne bit her fingers regretfully and tried her best to come up with an excuse to explain it to Brian.

Before she came up with an answer, Brian had finished the meeting and came down from the upper floor. She did not even have the time to put away the parcels and could only look at Brian in a panic.

Brian thought that Joanne had received something suspicious. When he walked over, he found something sent by Rosalyn. It was evident that Joanne had opened the parcel and seen the card.

He looked at Joanne calmly and harbored a trace of danger in his deep eyes.

Joanne feared this kind of expression most, so she forced a smile. "When Simon brought it in, I thought it was my express mail, so I just... opened it..."

"..." Brian just looked at her and said nothing.

Joanne felt more startled. She hurriedly added, almost in tears. "I really didn't mean to do this. If I had known this is your package, I would not have opened it no matter who the sender is! I won't see the card either! Oh, no, I didn't look at the card. It fell to the ground and I accidentally..."

She looked up to Brian innocently.

Brian lifted the corner of his lips. "But if you havent opened the package, the card wouldn't have fallen out." He was implying that Joanne was the one to blame.

Joanne thought about it carefully and found Brian's words... almost correct.

"... anyway, I didn't mean it." She could only repeat her point. "I apologize to you, and I promise that I'll check the recipient when I received a package later..."

The thing was that, in the beginning, she did not expect Brian to have received a mail at all. Weren't the things first sent to Gavin in the company to check? Then, Gavin would hand them over to him?

Without his permission, how could Rosalyn send some express mail directly to his home?

Well, she suddenly found that she didn't want to apologize at all.

In fact, Brian did not want to hear Su Jinan's sincere apology at all either.

He squinted and finally expressed his dissatisfaction. "When you see someone else's birthday present for me, you're going to put on a face like that?"

Joanne pouted. "What should I do?"

"You should think about what you'll prepare for me." Brian said, "This is my first birthday with you."

Joanne blinked in doubt. "Doesn't Gavin say that Brian always skips his birthday? And what he's saying means that... He's going to throw a birthday party this year?

Can it be real, like what Gavin has said, that Brian grows to like birthday parties after marrying her?"

She carefully concealed her inner joy and looked at the expensive golf club on the ground. "First, I can't afford to buy such an expensive..." Suddenly, she asked depressedly, "Why do you like this kind of club?"

She could not blame Rosalyn, but could only blame it on this club for Brian liked it.

How could Brian miss the jealousy in her words? Therefore, he raised his lips. "If you send me something else, I can also consider sparing my love to you."

"..."

Joanne silently calculated in her heart. "This club's price is a six-digit number, even if I can afford a club of the same price, the quality will be inferior to this club, and Brian won't like it either. I'll be losing for sure."

She lifted her chin and snorted. She looked away. "I won't send you a club as other people do!"

"Do I really look like an unoriginal thinker?"

Brian cocked an eyebrow. "It's OK. You still have half a month's time to come up with something for me."

In fact, Joanne had no clue at the moment. To hide her guilty feelings, she awkwardly changed the topic. "Well, how can Rosalyn know that you want this club?"

After all, she was Mrs. Lambert but failed to learn that.

Brian did not expect Joanne to turn the subject back to Rosalyn, so he smiled more widely. "I never told her about it. I don't know how she knew that."

Joanne believed in Brian's words, and it was not hard for her to guess how Rosalyn knew that.

Rosalyn was a rising superstar internationally. She had more connections than most common people did. She could easily get to know what Brian liked.

Nevertheless, Joanne still felt dissatisfied.

Last time, Rosalyn clearly stated that she would try to steal Brian away. Although Rosalyn was still filming abroad, she was still on the top of Joanne's love rival list.

Now, the No.1 love rival sent a gift that would be better than hers.

Joanne did not have such extensive social networking to find what he liked, but she had a more direct way!

Between her thinking, Joanne had already pounced on Brian. "What else do you like?"

Brian was dissatisfied and frowned. "Can you be sincere? Isn't the gift supposed to surprise me? Who will ask the receiver what he likes before giving out the gift?"

"I ask because I'm very sincere!" Joanne clung to Brian's hand. "Quickly, what else do you like?"

Brian stared into Joanne's eyes and slowly uttered a word. "You."

"..." Joanne blushed.

She admitted that she liked the answer very much, but... it sounded somewhat off.

After a moment of consideration, she lowered her head and tangled her hands together. "You are not serious. What kind of answer is that?"

Brian felt even more dissatisfied. "What is wrong with my answer?"

"We have been married for a long time. Hmm, in other words, I've been yours long ago." Joanne looked up to Brian. "Would I pack myself up as a present and send it to you? This is so unoriginal!"

Brian was pleased with some of her unintentional words, and then all his dissatisfaction disappeared. A gentle smiled spread around his lips, and he looked delighted.

Joanne gently pushed Brian. "Go away. I'll come up with something myself."

She jumped back to the sofa and continued her movie with a pillow in her arms.

Maybe in the middle of the movie, she could think of something to send to him!

Brian walked to her side and sat down. "We'll visit mom after lunch."

Joanne was surprised but then laughed. "Sure."

Because of her injured leg, she had been lying in the hospital room for half a month, and after she came back, she took a rest for a while at home. She hadn't seen Iris for a long time. It was weekend today, and she and Brian happened to be both available so that they would stop by after lunch.

Iris was an old lady who arranged a full schedule for herself. Even Joanne and Lu Jianyan didn't have time to come to see her. She wouldn't have the time to complain. She would travel, go to beauty salon and play mahjong. She seemed to have endless things to do.

According to her, she would try everything she did not do when she was young because she hadn't had the time back then.

When Joanne and Brian arrived at Orchid Gardens, Iris just returned from a beauty salon with her friends. Everyone's face was glowing and full of smiles.

"Mom." Joanne called outside before entering the house. "We've come back to see you."

"Oh, my son came back with my daughter-in-law." Iris asked the other ladies to make themselves at home and walked to the door. The moment she saw Joanne, she asked with concern. "Joanne, how's your foot now?"

Joanne nimbly showed her right leg for Iris to check. "I was able to go to see Freya's live show last night. I've almost completely recovered."
