Chapter 202 Discovering the Secrets of Brian

"That's good." Iris smiled gratifiedly. "Otherwise, every time I see you wobble, I will feel bad."

"Sister Yulan," came the voice of Mrs. Megan in the living room. "What family issues are you talk about at the door? Let Joanne and Brian come in."

The living room was full of energetic ladies, so once here, Brian came in obviously out of place. Iris sent him upstairs to help her do things, but Joanne did not follow him-Mrs. Megan stopped her as soon as she came in.

"Joanne, I haven't seen you for a long time." Mrs. Megan looked at Joanne up and down. "But you look healthier than before."

Joanne's cheeks turned hot, and she heard those "experienced" ladies teasingly laughing at her.

"Stop teasing her." Iris would surely protect her daughter-in-law, and she asked Joanne, "How are you and Brian getting lately?"

Joanne nodded. "We are very good. Mom, you don't have to worry about us. We are not children anymore."

"I also ask your mother not to worry about you two." Mrs. Megan said, "No matter what, as far as I know, he can't make you feel wronged."

"Mrs. Megan, why are you so right about other people?" Some lady said, half-jokingly and half-seriously.

"Will I say something I don't know for sure?" You should also let Joanne know this." Mrs. Megan smiled and looked at Joanne. "Remember that day when you came to be interviewed for tutoring Henry in English? When you left, Brian saw you.

"At that time, my husband was going to cooperate with him. The only condition he proposed was that we should hire you as an English tutor for Tong Tong, and ensure your safety on the trip from and to our home and in school.

"So the first time you attended the reception and when Brian told me that you got married, I felt surprised at first, but soon realized it was not surprising at all."

Finally, Mrs. Megan concluded. "Joanne, Brian really cares for you."

Joanne could only smile. "I know."

She also finally knew why Mrs. Megan paid her so much, and why Mrs. Megan drove her from and to school every time.

When they were in Z City, Brian told her about this but did not elaborate on the requirements he had proposed to Mr. and Mrs. Megan.

"Well, Yulan, it turns out that your son has a target long ago." Another lady felt discouraged and said, "It's no wonder that when I introduced my niece to Brian, he just wouldn't see her."

Iris just smiled. She was not surprised at all when Brian returned to China and secretly helped Joanne.

Then, those nice ladies burst out in the discussion, and Joanne blushed, so she came up with an excuse to go upstairs.

Just now, she didn't hear what Iris wanted Brian to do upstairs, nor did she know where Brian was. She pushed open the door of the room where Brian lived when he was a child. He was not here.

It was also okay that she stayed in the room alone.

After the marriage, Joanne had come to see Iris many times. However, it was the second time that she had entered this room.

Last time, when she visited Iris for the first time, she couldn't believe it was the room where Brian lived when he was a child-Because except for a few pieces of simple furniture and books on the shelf, she couldn't find anything else.

She also didn't like a messy room, but at least, she would put some trinkets she liked in the room. Now it seemed that Brian was a boring man to the bone. Whether when he was a child or an adult, people would not find anything interesting in his room.

However, she still grew intrigued by something in this room-a storage box on the shelf.

Last time, she almost opened the box but was stopped by Lu Buyan. Would there be any secrets hidden here?

If it was before, Joanne would suppress her curiosity because she was afraid of Brian's anger, but now, she was very interested in all of Brian's secrets!

She stood on tiptoe to fetch the box and shook it by her ear. Something was crashing against the box, indicating that there was something in it.

She lifted the lid and saw the back of a photo. It looked like the photo had been taken for a few years.

Hmm, whose photo would Brian keep for all these years? Since he didn't want her to see it, was it some other woman's?

Joanne quickly turned over the photo, only to see the picture of herself more than a decade ago.

Her heart missed a beat and then started to race.

She remembered this photo. It was taken a few days before Brian and Iris left.

At that time, there was no sign of them leaving at all, and she once thought that Iris and Brian would have lived in the old house forever. She felt as long as she went there, she could find Brian.

On that day, her mother took her to see Iris and Brian, and they took the newly bought camera. Thus, her mother and Iris started to shoot things in the garden. Of course, she and Brian were their objects.

Back then, Brian was still young but had already started to play cool. He left after just being taken a few photos. In the end, Iris and her mother finally persuaded Joanne to stay. She posed under their instructions, and the camera kept clicking.

The one lying in Brian's box was the one taken when in the end, she felt unhappy. She pouted and shunned the camera behind a row of camellia. Her face was downcast, but the two moms were happy taking her photos. Finally, she ran to find Brian.

After finding him, she discovered that Brian had been watching her not far away.

She felt upset and questioned him. "Why did you leave without me?" If she was not happy, she would not call him Brother Brian.

Brian said faintly, "If I took you, they would come over and shoot us both."

"..." So, Brian deliberately left her there to be photographed?

Joanne pouted her lips so high and felt angry. "Mom's right. Brian is too sophisticated!"

She snorted and announced proudly. "I won't talk to you."

However, in less than half an hour, she forgot what she said and went to play with Brian. She called him "Brother Brian" and her voice couldn't be sweeter.

At that time, Brian must love her silly sweetness...

When she was absorbed in her thoughts, the door squeaked. Brian pushed open the door and came in.

Brian did not expect to see Joanne in the room or even see her open the box.

On that day, they took a lot of photos of Joanne. Iris took the film with her when they left the country. After they settled in the United States, Iris wanted to arrange a photo wall to make their home look sweeter. She picked some film and had Brian develop them, and some of them were photos of Joanne taken on that day.

When selecting photos, Iris asked him which ones he liked. He said that they didn't matter anyway. However, in the end, he secretly added the photo that was taken when Joanne was impatient.

Compared to those photos where she smiled brilliantly, he preferred to see her pout unhappily as if in the next second, she would be running around calling him Brother Brian.

Of course, after printing the photos and before giving them to Iris for the photo wall, he took out the picture he had secretly added.

Since then, he had carried this photo with him. When he returned to China, the picture had faded, but he still kept it. Until when he was about to marry Joanne, he feared that Joanne would discover it at home, so he brought it back here.

He did not expect Joanne to see it in the end.

Brian looked somewhat unnatural, and before he could say anything, Joanne shook the photo to him. "Mom has taken so many beautiful photos of me that day, but why did you pick this one?"

"I think only this picture of that day is watchable." After a pause, Brian asked in doubt, "Do you still remember that day?"

"That was the first time I felt someone was so sophisticated, so how would I forget it?"

Things was strange about Brian. Though Joanne had an excellent memory, she had forgotten about most of her childhood as most people did.

Nevertheless, in the period when Brian was around, she remembered every day. All the memories related to Brian, as long as she kept them in her mind, could not be forgotten over time.

She stopped herself from thinking more about it, pursed her lips, and expressed her severe doubts about Brian's values. "And you don't know what beauty is. All the photos before this were better!"

"..." Brian cocked one eyebrow and did not agree or disagree.

Joanne curiously tilted her head. "Brian, how come you don't feel guilty at all?"

After hiding her photos for so many years, now that she discovered it, he would at least look a bit of awkward, wouldn't he?

She had an encrypted hidden folder in her computer full of things about Lu Jianyan, including many photos of him. If Brian discovered that, she would have to dig a hole and directly crawl into it.

Brian was calmer than she thought because he said, "I am not hiding photos of others, so why should I be guilty?"

"..." Joanne thought about it seriously and even found his words made sense.

She smiled and approached Brian. "When you first came to the United States, did you miss me?"

"No." Brian directly poured a bucket of ice water on Joanne.

Joanne pouted to express her dissatisfaction. "You must have changed your mind the moment you were in the United States!"

Brian smiled. "At that time, you were only ten years old, and all you did was crying. If I started thinking about you back then, wouldn't you call me a pervert?"

Joanne. ""

She put the photo back in the box. "Then why didn't you let me open the box last time?"

If she opened it last time, she might see through Brian's mind, and they would not have to go around in circles.

Brian said, "At that time, I thought we would get divorced and didn't want you to know too much."

"In fact, he didn't want to burden me with those things, did he?"

Joanne could not deny that she was a little touched.

No matter in the very beginning or now, Brian had been giving away things. Moreover, he had to carefully hide everything, to make sure she could leave light-heartedly.

In contrast to him, most of the things she did were to upset him...

She looked up at Brian and raised her lips. "I promise you, as long as you don't fall for others or go astray, I won't divorce you!"

Brian looked at Joanne tenderly and reached out to pulled Joanne into his arms. "Then you'll bound to be with me for a lifetime."

As Joanne wanted to say something, Brian's lips had fallen and caught her lips.

"Oh..." She exclaimed subconsciously, but Brian's kisses drowned her last syllable. Brian held both her hands and body tightly in his arms. She struggled hard to break free and finally managed to circle her arms around his waist.

Brian took the chance to tighten his grasp on her, and she also behaved very well today. She leaned against him and put most of her weight on him, awkwardly responding to his slightly aggressive taking.
