Chapter 203 Her Husband Is So Cool (1)

Joanne just felt that the air around her was getting thinner and thinner.

She was about to be out of breath, but involuntarily tightened her grip on Brian's waist.

If she was suffocating and dying, then Brian was her only driftwood.

She suddenly remembered her previous conversation with Brian.

"Quickly, what else do you like?" She asked, and Brian answered blandly, "You."

"Well, if I can't think of what to send to Brian to win Rosalyn, I might as well... send myself as a gift and let him do what he wants?"

"Joanne." Feeling dizzy, she heard Iris's voice coming from the stairs. "Where are you?"

"Hmm"

Joanne remembered that when Brian came in, he didn't even close the door. She opened her eyes nervously and pushed Brian. However, he didn't move and still hugged her. He didn't worry about Iris coming over to see them cuddling together.

Joanne was anxious like an ant trapped in a hot pot but did not dare to make too much protest, fearing that Iris would misunderstand.

When she was trying to push harder to break free from Brian, he suddenly seized the back of her head and made the kiss deeper with force.

"..." Well, he must have been intentional.

"Joanne? Brian?"

Iris's voice was getting closer and closer, but Brian seemed to be enjoying this kiss more and more. When Joanne was so anxious that she could bite him, he loosened her unhurriedly, looking full and satisfied.

Joanne glared at him, wiped her mouth, and shouted at the door. "Mom, we are here."

Iris quickly walked over. "Of course, you are here." She looked at Joanne smilingly. "Joanne, do you want to play mahjong with us?"

Mahjong was one of Iris's favorite entertainments. She was dragging her daughter-in-law down to make herself another mahjong partner.

Joanne agreed but added embarrassedly, "Mom, I can't play mahjong."

"It doesn't matter. We can, and Brian plays mahjong too!" Iris came in and grabbed Joanne's hand directly. "We can all teach you."

"Is the national quintessence so easy to learn?"

Joanne was dragged away by Iris and asked Brian for help with her eyes. However, Brian just followed, and said in her ear, "I'll teach you."

Downstairs, Mrs. Megan and another lady had already started. There were two positions empty. One, of course, was Iris's. Seeing Iris took Joanne downstairs, Mrs. Megan immediately waved. "Joanne, come over. I have played mahjong with your mother-in-law for half a lifetime, but I have never played it with you."

"Don't worry. I will teach you at first and won't let you lose too much." Iris said with great enthusiasm, and then pinned Joanne down to the seat.

Joanne was awkward and looked at Brian uneasily. He was calm and relaxed, walked behind her, and stood there. He was comforting her with his eyes.

It was strange, but when Brian just stood behind her and Joanne couldn't even see him, her restless heart settled down.

Sure enough, as long as Brian was around, she could be fearless.

The ladies next to them clearly felt the change in Joanne's mood. Mrs. Megan smiled. "Brian, I heard that your skills are first-class. Teach her well, and let her learn it in the next few days."

Joanne looked at Brian embarassedly. "I don't even know what dots and bamboo are..." She knew nothing about mahjong.

"These are not difficult."

Brian first told some of the basic mahjong knowledge to Joanne, such as the five categories of mahjong, what was calling mahjong, and what was a dealer in the game.

His speech was always concise, but he had carefully listed his points in order. Joanne absorbed the new knowledge quickly. Brian taught her one time, and she already had a basic concept for mahjong. Mrs. Megan saw her nod, looking eagerly. "Joanne, let's try it for one round?"

Joanne nodded. "Yes."

After the dealer Iris took four tiles, Joanne also reached for four tiles.

It was entirely luck and character that decided what tiles she would get.

It was no wonder that others said that of all card games, mahjong was the least demanding for playing skills because luck was more important in the game than your skills.

Although there were more than 100 tiles in a set of mahjong, its rules were not as complicated as Joanne had imagined. Therefore, during the first round, Brian only occasionally guided Joanne, and she could play it with ease.

"Joanne, you learned very fast." Mrs. Megan smiled and spread the tiles in front of her, "I'm calling mahjong!"

When a newbie first played the table, they would naturally show envy seeing other people calling mahjong. However, Joanne was very calm. She first looked at Mrs. Megan's tiles, then looked at her tiles, and accepted her failure.

Mrs. Megan felt interesting. "Joanne, aren't you upset?" One must know that only an experienced player would put on a face like Joanne's right now. When Mrs. Megan was first addicted to mahjong, she would yell and scream for a while every time others won, so were Iris and those other ladies.

Joanne smiled and shook her head, showing no signs of worry. "I know why you won."

Mrs. Megan exclaimed in her heart that a master was born.

After playing for two more rounds, Joanne was already very comfortable and ultimately got rid of Brian's instructions. During the fifth round, she even won money from Iris.

Not only Iris, Mrs. Megan, and others also couldn't help but look at Joanne with their mouths slightly open.

Although Iris's card skills were not so excellent, she was one of the best in the mahjong fans club. However, Joanne, who first played on the table, actually won money from her?

Mrs. Megan couldn't help but laugh. "Brian, what did you teach Joanne?"

They had heard everything Brian had taught. They were simply some basic rules. She asked this because she found it unbelievable.

Another member of the mahjong club, Mrs. Chen, exclaimed. "Yulan, when Joanne gets skilled in mahjong, your family will only be short of one player."

Among the outsiders here, only Mrs. Megan knew that Brian's father was also a mahjong fan during his lifetime. He and Iris meet each other through mahjong. If he was still here, how could Lambert Family be missing one player?

Mrs. Chen's words would inevitably cause Iris's grief over the late husband.

Unsurprisingly, something in Iris's eyes gradually sunk, and she rested her hand on the mahjong table in front of her but did not move at all.

Mrs. Megan touched Mrs. Chen's feet with her feet below the table and said, "Let Brian and Joanne have a little Brian or little Jane. When mom and dad are both masters, the baby must learn fast. When the three generations of people play mahjong on the same table, how fun it will be!"

Mrs. Chen realized she said something wrong and quickly followed Mrs. Megan's words and praised her excellent idea.

The three ladies eagerly discussed Iris's having a grandson, and the smile slowly returned to Iris's face. She discarded a tile on the table. "I also think this is a perfect idea."

This time, Joanne's face was red, and with her hand trembling, she discarded a wrong tile. Then, she was too shy to lift her head.

Iris couldn't help but laugh, and Mrs. Megan shifted to target Brian. "Brian, you have been married for half a year, how is Joanne still so shy?"

Joanne's face was indeed so hot that she could almost cook an egg on it. Hearing that, she turned her head, and Brian naturally hugged her and said, "She has been like this since she was a child."

After that, Joanne's face was redder. She buried her head against Brian's abdomen. She did not move and pretended to have heard nothing.

At this time, Su Jian's last player, Mrs. Chen, discarded a tile. Brian stroked her head and said softly, "It's your turn."

The couple's actions were so sweet, and Mrs. Megan thought about it and said, "In the opinions of you young people, our three middle-aged women are now like those huge fifth wheels!"

Mrs. Chen also said, "Oh, we should leave after this round."

Joanne collected herself for a while. Biting her lips and looking back at the tiles, she discarded one of them.

After finishing this round, Joanne had already figured out some tricks and gradually became interested. Brian saw that she was having fun, so he left her alone and went upstairs to deal with something.

Joanne's mind was on the game. She just mumbled "OK". "Get back to work."

Brian put something beside her hand, but she did not take notice of it.

After playing for another hour, Joanne already had her method. Iris encouraged her. "Joanne, do you want to be the dealer?"

Playing a dealer at the first time they went on a game table was a big challenge for many people. Thus, Joanne itched for a try. "Okay."

After she answered, she remembered that she was going out with Brian today and didn't carry a penny with her. She added embarrassedly, "I didn't have any money with me..."

"Isn't money there?" Iris gestured to Joanne to see what was beside her hand.

It was Brian's wallet.

Joanne let out a "gee" in surprise. Then, she opened the wallet and found some cash inside. Brian generally did not bring some money with him. Now, he had left all of them to her.

Iris put the tiles into the mahjong machine, sighed and said, "He almost hasn't cared for me like that."

Mrs. Megan and those ladies naturally followed to tease Joanne.

Joanne's cheeks had just cooled down. Now, they got hot again. Thus, when she played the dealer for the first time, she lost the game and a few 100-dollar bills.

Mrs. Chen comforted her. "It's okay, don't be discouraged. Anyway, Brian has a lot of these things."

Joanne was calm and gradually learned during the second game. Therefore, she did not lose that much the second time. After a few more rounds, she finally won.

If she was not a genius, Mrs. Megan couldn't think of any other way to explain why Joanne was able to win the first time when she was on the table and played the dealer.

Joanne was using her brain just as she usually did in the crime scene.

At about 5 pm, Mrs. Megan and other ladies were going home. Joanne counted the money, and her eyes lit up. She ran upstairs to find Brian.

Brian just finished the matter. Iris said that her computer was a bit off. He started the computer to check. Just as he located the problem, Joanne rushed in and pushed open the door, holding a few bills in her hand.

He cocked one eyebrow. "They're all you've left?"

Joanne pouted and returned the wallet to him. "You didn't lose any money. These are all I've won!"

"Not bad." Brian rarely praised Joanne. "But it's your first time playing. You don't have to care so much about winning or losing." Anyway, even if Joanne lost a lot, it wouldn't mean a thing to him.

Joanne disagreed with Brian's view and seriously stated. "Although you have money, I can't take it for granted and lose all your money."

Brian. "..."

At this time, Joanne began to wonder why Brian stayed in the study and asked him, "What are you doing?"

She approached him from behind and saw the computer was on, but the screen was full of code that she could not understand. Brian was tapping on the keys swiftly, and the code changed consequently. She could only silently sigh in her heart. So cool.

To be precise, her husband was so cool!
