Brian just got home, and Gavin called him.
Gavin heard that Rowdy investigated on Brian's information, and then ordered people to collect Lambert Group's information, so it was likely that Rowdy had recognized Brian.
"Are you..." Gavin asked with a little hesitation. "Have you seen the damned Rowdy?"
"Yesterday afternoon." Brian looked at the rows of maple trees, whose leaves were turning red, in the villa area. His voice was colder than the autumn wind. "Rowdy's reaction is faster than I expected."
After so many years, he thought that Rowdy would take some time to recognize him.
Knowing that Brian did not die, and had returned to Arlington to build a home base took. Did Rowdy's heart swell with hate just like what Brian used to do?
Gavin listened to Brian's voice and it still sounded calm, and then Gavin felt relieved.
He once thought that the three words "Rowdy" were the nightmare of Brian's entire life.
Today, Rowdy was back, and he laid his eyes on Joanne. Brian just faced the past in a poised manner.
Gavin did not need to worry.
"I guess that Rowdy will come after you." Then, Gavin reminded Brian. "Be careful. I have sent more guards to protect you and Joanne. Tell Joanne about Rowdy, lest she's suspicious after she finds it out."
"Got it."
Brian hung up the phone and left the study to return to the bedroom.
The door was quietly pushed open, and Joanne was ironing Brian's shirt.
Brian walked over and surrounded Joanne's waist from behind, and his chin rested on her slender shoulder. "Leave these things to Martha."
Joanne seemed to have been accustomed to Brian's touch, and she'd no longer panic like she used to, and she continued to iron his white shirt. "I know. I am just bored and need to kill some time."
Besides, this is not laborious.
Then, she thought that in addition to the servants they hired, only she could help Brian to do this, and her happiness was doubled! Why not?
""
"Joanne, let's have a wedding ceremony, okay?"
How long it had been, he didn't know. It seemed just a short while, and Brian's low voice clearly sounded.
Joanne was lost in her thoughts for a moment.
Brian was afraid that she would burn herself, and turned off the iron, waiting for her reply.
"Have... a wedding ceremony?" Joanne looked at Brian with some uncertainty. "How come you suddenly think of this?"
"I didn't suddenly think of it." Brian's hand tightened on Joanne's waist. "I have been thinking about it for a long time."
"How long?" Joanne deliberately teased him. "Didn't you start thinking about it when you promised to marry me?"
Brian said honestly, "It's still a little earlier than that."
It turned out that Joanne's face was hot. "We are now like an old couple..."
"Who said that?" Brian smirked his lips and bowed his head in Joanne's ear. "We are obviously 'newly married couples'."
Joanne faintly understood what he meant. Her cheeks completely red, she bit her lips. "You haven't said how you would think of a wedding ceremony."
"Don't you say that we are married only after holding a wedding ceremony?" Brian said, "I want to give you a wedding you like."
Joanne looked up at Brian, her eyes full of surprise.
It turned out the most moving thing was the plainest pillow talk.
It was not because he wanted to tell the world that he was married. It was just because of some words she said unintentionally, and thus he wanted to give her a wedding in her dreams.
The wedding was, of course, wonderful, but Joanne had long heard about the cumbersome procedure. She didn't know if she could handle so many things.
Of course, she was even more afraid that trivial matters would ruin the expectation to the wedding.
Brian seemed to see through Joanne's thinking and stroked her head. "You just need to wait to be a bride." And leave the rest to me. Of course, when you need to cooperate, you still need to cooperate."
Joanne tilted her head. "For example? What do I need to cooperate with?"
"You need to have your gown tailored and... make me happy."
Joanne held back her laughter. "I promise that we'll have a wedding ceremony." She tapped on his nose. "Are we good? Hmmm..."
Brian answered Joanne with real actions.
In the evening, Brian told Iris about them having a wedding ceremony.
Iris was completely shoveled out of her low mood and was happy that she uttered several "great" in succession. "You just wait for me, cause' I'll handle all the affairs!"
She had been expecting to arrange for Brian and Joanne's wedding for years.
"Mom, when I need your help, I will tell you." Brian said, "Just leave those trivial things to the professionals. You can't do so many things at one time."
"Right." Iris was so happy that she couldn't keep her mouth shut. "Then I'll be the creative supervisor in chief and supervise them for you!"
Brian smiled. "No problem."
Overnight, Brian and Joanne's upcoming wedding were spread in Iris's circle. Iris had many friends, and a group of rich ladies all sent their best wishes to her, and unreservedly shared their own experience in setting up their children's wedding.
The next day, Brian asked Gavin to prepare for this.
Gavin's hand holding the file stiffened in the air, and his face was in disbelief. "Boss, seriously, a wedding... at such a time?"
Well, he thought that their next major step was to handle that Rowdy. Where did this wedding thing come from?
Brian just said, "Do as I said."
" OK." Gavin shrugged and went out helplessly.
The news soon spread in a small bunch of people, and soon, Rowdy also heard about it.
This evening, Brian and Gavin were in a business conversation with their partners over a meal in a star-rated restaurant.
They finished very late, and when Brian came out of the VIP room, a slender figure in the corridor blocked his way. The man wore a black trench coat, and he held a fine cigarette between his fingertips. His profile looked grim and cold.
"Brian," Having a cigarette between his teeth, Rowdy eyed Brian up and down. "I didn't expect it, I really didn't expect it..." His repetition was plain enough to show his surprise.
Brian smiled flatly. "I did not expect that you dare to return to Arlington."
At the bottom of Rowdy's eyes, a trace of grimness flashed. "Arlington is my place!"
"When you waled out of your house today, you forgot to read the calendar?" Brian's smile was ironic. "It's year 20xx now, and you're still living in 14 years ago?" The implication was that the Kent family had lost power, and Rowdy was only dreaming.
Rowdy was a person who was easily irritated.
Moreover, angry Kangrui City was extremely terrifying.
He slammed the cigarette on the ground and stepped on it. "Brian, fourteen years ago, I forced your mother and you to a dead end, leaving only death behind your back. I can also do it fourteen years later!"
Brian did not fear him. "Go ahead and try."
He was so determined and calm, obviously no longer the unarmed sixteen-year-old boy fourteen years ago. Rowdy squinted his eyes. For a moment, he felt a serious threat.
"Rowdy, I remind you." Brian was so calm and seemed so distant. "I'm in charge of today's Arlington."
" are you?" Rowdy smiled sarcastically, "I remember 14 years ago, you can fight back at all. Why don't you prove it to me now? Just prove it by carrying out your wedding smoothly."
Rowdy was almost directly telling Brian that he would make trouble on their wedding, 100% provocation.
However, Brian did not take Rowdy seriously at all and walked away.
Gavin drove the car to the entrance of the hotel and waited for a long time. When he finally saw Brian, he couldn't help but ask, "Are you lost?"
"I ran into Rowdy."
Gavin, who was starting the car, suddenly froze. "He really came to you. What did he say? He threatened you?"
"You'll be personally responsible for the security of the wedding." Brian said, "Rowdy will find a way to destroy my wedding."
"No problem." Gavin nodded. "I'll come up with a few plans with Wesley and see which one covers the most."
After that, he started the car and sent Brian home.
It was after ten o'clock, and Joanne just walked out of the bathroom with her water dripping from her hair. Her long black hair was wet and moist, and she casually patted it, making the water drops splashing constantly.
She regarded this as a game, and she became fascinated and spent a good time in it. Brian had no choice but to drag her over and took a hairdryer to dry her hair.
She had been using the same brand of shampoo all the time, so her hair was covered in a fragrance Brian found familiar with. Brian's movements unconsciously slow down, letting the hot wind blow her hair away from his hand.
Joanne thought that Brian was distracted and jerked her head back to scare him. "What are you thinking?"
Brian brushed her hair. "It's dried up."
"... I asked what you were thinking."
He raised his lips in an arc that showed he was pleased. "I was thinking about how you'd thank me."
Joanne blinked and before she reacted, Brian had already bowed his head, his eyes focused on her lips.
When she was about to close her eyes, she felt sudden acute colic. She hurriedly pushed Brian away and ran into the bathroom.
Brian frowned and followed up to ask behind the door, "What happened?"
"No, nothing..." Joanne said, "You, open the second cabinet of the bedside table, and fetch me the tampon inside."
Brian realized and recalled, well, it was indeed Joanne's period again.
The duck that was about to be cooked in the pot flew away.
He surrendered and to opened the bedside table to take out the things Joanne wanted. When he was about close it, he found a box of pills in the corner of the drawer.
The words on it were reflected in the bottom of his eyes and had turned into several cold arrows.
Joanne actually was taking this behind his back.
"Brian." Su Jinan urged in the bathroom. "Hurry up."
He handed the thing through the crack of the door to Joanne.
Joanne was in a hurry and didn't notice anything. When she came out of the bathroom, she was blushing and didn't immediately notice Brian's horrible face.
She walked to the bed. "Let's go to sleep"
"..." There was no voice to respond to her.
Joanne raised her eyes with hindsight and froze at Brian's eyes. She felt discouraged instantly. "What happened? I... I didn't mean to have my period at this time..."
However, thinking about it carefully, she didn't feel right, because how would Brian get angry with her period?
At this time, Joanne finally glanced sideways at the open drawer.
The pills!
She widened her eyes and looked at Brian in panic. A thousand words rushed to the verge of her lips, but she didn't know where to start to explain herself.
"Why are you taking this?" Brian said coldly, "If you don't want children, you can talk to me."
"No..." Joanne shook her head helplessly. "It's not like that."
