Chapter 270 Liqueur Could Spice Things Up

Joanne rapidly ate some food to fill up her empty stomach before she sealed the leftovers with plastic food wrap and stored them in the refrigerator. Next, she cooked a hangover soup and then went to check on Brian, who was resting on the sofa.

Brian was not as drunk as Chris. When he heard Joanne's footsteps getting closer, he opened his eyes which looked were extra bright due to the alcohol. He smiled and said, "Honey."

His tone was full of dependency and trust...

Since he and Chris got drunk, Joanne clearly had a reason to be mad at him. Instead, she knelt down next to him and massaged his temples with her fingers. "Is your head still dizzy? Are you feeling better?"

Brian grasped her hand and gently rubbed it in his hands. Satisfied, he said, "I feel much better."

Joanne's last trace of anger was subsided. She poured out half of the hangover soup into a thermos bottle and left a note on Chris's night table, reminding him of the hangover soup and leftovers in the refrigerator. She poured out the other half of the soup for Brian. "Get up, drink this."

Brian sniffed it and raised his eyebrows to the smell. "Feed me, or I won't drink it!" He sounded like a capricious big boy.

Joanne squeezed out a smile. "Fine, I will feed you. Be nice and open your mouth." She would deal with him tomorrow!

Brian smiled, opened his mouth, and soon finished drinking the bowl of hangover soup.

"Okay, let's go home!" said Joanne.

Brian behaved obediently as he walked out with her assistance, trying not to put his weight on her.

Before Joanne could praise him, he resumed his original personality right after he got on the car. He held Joanne tightly and fell asleep with his whole body leaned against her.

Joanne felt speechless. "..."

It took some time to get to the villa from the city center. Brian automatically woke up after they arrived home. Perhaps, the hangover soup worked, his eyes looked much clearer.

Still concerned, Joanne continued to help him get upstairs.

But as soon as they entered the room, he trapped Joanne behind the door with a slight push.

His pretty eyes reflected a burning light and glanced at Joanne with a sly look. Joanne was confused. Was he drunk or sober?

Brian's thumb gently stroked across Joanne's eyebrows, cheeks, and chin. Suddenly, he wrapped his hands around her head and lowered his head to bite her lips.

That was right, he bit her!

His bite was gentle and forceful at the same time, carrying some hints. Joanne made a "hiss" sound and just as she hoped to push Brian away, he suddenly contained her lips with a kiss.

Not completely sober, he kissed her uncontrollably. Joanne coaxed him to take a bath, but he abruptly locked her waist and left a hickey on her neck. "Do not reject me."

"..."

Not to mention rejection, Joanne didn't even have a chance to speak.

...

Joanne was supposed to go to work on the next day.

But when she woke up, it was already noon.

She actually didn't get much sleep.

Resting his head on the pillow next to hers, Brian showed a relaxed and lazy look between his eyebrows. With just one glimpse of him, Joanne's cheeks turned red.

She felt regretful... In the future, she would either never let Brian drink, or get him completely wasted!

When he was half sober and half-drunk, she would be the one suffering.

Joanne glanced at Brian, who looked innocently at ease. "Never drink with my brother again in the future."

"Well?" He picked his eyebrows and argued. "The liqueur is not completely useless."

Joanne's forehead darkened, and asked angrily, "What good does it do!?"

Brian smiled and kissed her lips. Then he got closer to her ear. "Spice things up."

Kaboom-

As if struck by lightning, Joanne shook up as a whole.

Spice... spice things up...

From now on, Joanne could no longer calmly face any type of liqueur.

After the morning routines, Joanne prepared to go to work. But Brian said, "I thought you would sleep till the afternoon, so I helped you take the day off."

"..." Joanne didn't know if she should pounce on him to bite him or thank him.

After lunch, Shawn sent a message to Joanne, saying that there was a murder case in the southern part of the city. He was too busy with work. She responded with enthusiasm: I am free in the afternoon. I'll go back to work now!

Brian was very discontent with her response and frowned. "He only said that he was busy, and you just decided to help him?"

He was obviously jealous! But she couldn't expose Mr. Brian!

Joanne raised a bright and charming smile. "When we say busy, it usually speaks on behalf of the entire police station. I am not helping Shawn. I am helping my department to improve crime-solving rate!"

Brian reluctantly accepted this explanation. Joanne quickly diverted the topic and told him of what happened to Yuna's family the day before yesterday. He raised his eyebrows. "Do you want my help?"

Joanne nodded and looked weakly at Brian. "The only person who can help me, is you..."

But Brian said, "Yuna is working for Wesley. Just leave it to Wesley."

Joanne thought about it, decided that what he said made sense.

After all, Brian lived in Arlington; he was too far away even if he wanted to intervene in this matter. But Wesley was different. As an important figure in Glasgow, he probably only had to say the word to solve this kind of thing.

Having resolved her biggest concern, Joanne felt relaxed and she worked smoothly.

However, Yuna, who was far away in Glasgow, was alarmed and trapped in struggles.

On the night after Joanne took off, she had a dream and in it, she saw Joanne's naive smile.

Though it was not a nightmare, she woke up in the middle of the night and felt sleepless.

Her other concern was about Griffin's gang. She worried about the extreme measures they would take to snatch her grandmother's house.

So on the next day, she deliberately took a day off from Wesley and stayed at home. However, Griffin did not appear again, so she felt reluctant to tell her grandmother about it.

On the third day, which was today, she went back to work.

Shortly after she had handled a customer dispute in the clubhouse, she received a strange phone call and a strange voice asked her, "Are you Cecilia's granddaughter?"

Cecilia Wallace was her grandmother's name.

"Mrs. Xu passed out at home and was discovered by her neighbor. She had been rescued at the Eighth Hospital."

Yuna blanked out for a moment. She hung up the phone and rushed to the parking lot. One of Wesley's assistant named Kai saw her flustered and asked, "Yuna, what happened?"

Actually, Yuna was only 23 years old, still quite young.

However, she had recently become Wesley's right-hand woman for she was extremely agile and courageous when she worked. Though many of Wesley's assistants were older than her, they still obediently called her big sister despite their age and ranking.

Yuna opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat. She buckled on her seat belt and said, "Take me to the Eighth Hospital!"

When she arrived at the hospital, her grandmother had already woke up. She clung onto Yuna's hand and said, "Yuna, we will not sell our house. Even if we do sell, we won't sell it to Griffin!"

"Griffin's gang came to our house today?" Yuna immediately guessed it.

Grandma closed her eyes and nodded weakly. "He said he wanted to buy our house. He also said that he would give us a high price for your father's sake. Who cares about his stinky money? Not to mention that is our ancestral home, how can we sell it? Grandma won't be around for a long time. I have nothing left for you, except for a place to stay."

"Grandma, you can rest assured." Yuna tightly held her grandma's hands. "I will protect you and protect our home." There was a firm persistence on her face which ordinary girls did not possess.

She waited until Grandma fell asleep again before leaving the ward. She had already calmed down, and Kai cut out his cigarette and asked her, "Is everything okay?"

Yuna shook her head. "It's not a big deal. Right, where are you going?"

"I am going back to Number One." Kai said, "I have to report to Brother Wesley."

"Then let's go back to Number One," said Yuna with murderous eyes.

Kai failed to notice the difference in her eyes and started the car.

Number One referred to the Number One Clubhouse in Glasgow, an asset under the name of Wesley. Wesley usually came here when he needed to deal with matters unrelated to the company.

After they arrived in front of the clubhouse, Yuna stayed in the car. Kai looked at her confusedly. "Brother Wesley is in his office. Aren't you going up?"

"I need to go somewhere to find someone, you go up first."

Confused, Kai sensed Yuna's abnormalities after she came out of the hospital, but he couldn't question her anything. He simply replied. "Okay."

Once he came out of the car, Yuna shifted into the driver's seat and drove to the ancient village.

Kai headed straight to Wesley's office. Wesley was inside. He called out. "Brother Wesley." Then he began to report.

There were mostly trivial matters. Wesley let out a "hmm", and the phone on his side suddenly rang. It was a call from Brian.

There was no such thing as "catching up" between the two. If Brian called, he must want something to be done.

As expected, he called for him to help Yuna deal with some things.

After hanging up the phone, Wesley remembered that he had not seen the little girl at the clubhouse for a long time today. He asked casually, "Where is Yuna?"

"Yuna had been acting weirdly today," Kai said, "earlier, she went to the clubhouse on Hua Bei Road and dealt with some issues. Afterward, she hurriedly out and asked me to take her to the hospital. I checked with the nurse, it was her grandmother who had been hospitalized. In fact, she was just downstairs earlier, but she didn't come up. She said she needed to find someone and took off."

Wesley twitched his eyebrows. "Why was her grandmother hospitalized?"

"The nurse said that something happened to her at home. I dared not to ask Yuna about the details, she..."

Before Kai finished his sentence, Wesley had already picked up the phone and called Yuna. So Kai simply shut his mouth.

The call was picked up quickly. Wesley asked directly, "Where are you going?"

"Home!"

"What for?"

"To find someone!"

"Who?"

"Cheng Qingbiao!"

The little girl's voice sounded devastatingly murderous. For the first time, Wesley sensed the difficulties in dealing with her. "What are you up to?"

Yuna said word by word, "I am going to kill him!"

"You..." Yuna hung up the call before Wesley could say another word.

A figure like Brother Wesley got hung up on for the first time.

He stared at the phone screen for a second. "Shit!"

He got up at the next second. "Let's go!"

Before Kai could ask him where he wanted to go, Wesley had already strode out his office as Kai jogged to keep up.

Fetching his car, Kai asked carefully, "Brother Wesley..."

Wesley said, "Yuna's house!"

Seeing Wesley's infrequent anger fused with a some anxiety, Kai realized that it was not a simple situation. Without another word, he started the car and headed for the ancient village.
