Chapter 300 Joanne, You Are Strange

After Chris left, Brian received a phone call.

Joanne didn't know who called. After finishing the call, he stood at the french windows for a long time without a move.

Joanne came to look at him and found him frowning. She held his hands tightly, and asked him softly, "What's the matter? It's for the company?"

"No." Brian sighed, rubbing Joanne's supple small hand in his palm, and then answered, "It's a family member of the previous financial director."

Joanne dropped her eyes. A trace of coldness flashed through her eyes.

"Everything will be OK. And their family will also receive an explanation." The words she said sounded firm while she wasn't aware of it.

Joanne firmly believed that if they solved the financial problem, Brian could prove the innocence of the staff members of the accounting department and led Lambert Group to get through the crisis.

Before dawn, when Brian was still sleeping, Joanne woke up silently.

The cold wind was howling outside but the room was still warm for Brian was lying beside her.

She looked at his handsome features by the dim wall lamp. She used to be obsessed with him, but now she was in deep love with him.

In the afternoon, Rowdy said that he would give her time to think over. However, after she received the phone call from Rosalyn, she actually decided then.

Compared with Brian risking so much and even losing everything, it's nothing to her to leave Brian.

Leaving Brian, she could survive. But Brian couldn't lose his innate pride and the trust of thousands of employees.

Joanne buried her head against Brian's chest. Hearing the pit-a-pat beats of his heart, she closed her eyes peacefully.

The fate of theirs had been manipulated with force by others.

From now on, every minute of them staying together was a countdown.

The next day.

Brian woke up from deep sleep and suddenly felt empty in his arms. So he subconsciously reached out and touched the other side-no one!

He opened his eyes swiftly and sure enough, Joanne wasn't here.

Usually, her any movements would wake him up. But today he slept so deeply and was not aware of it. Maybe it was because he had exhausted himself too much these days.

He washed up and went downstairs. As expected, Joanne was waiting for him with breakfast she prepared.

When Joanne saw Brian come downstairs, she approached him with a smile. Tying his necktie and tidying up the collar of his suit, she said, "I will accompany you to work today."

Brian looked at her, with a little doubt in his eyes.

"I had asked for a long leave with Captain Turner yesterday, but it was so boring at home." Joanne was eager to have a try working with him. "I want to go to the firm to accompany you!"

Brian took Joanne to the company and received many surprised eyes. However, Joanne didn't mind and held his hand tightly. She wanted to stick to him like a koala. When someone greeted her, she smiled back but didn't loosen her grip.

To save time to take her to France, Brian arranged his schedule full these days, and there was a pile of files on the table. He sat down and began to work. However, he found that the decision to take Joanne here was totally wrong.

Joanne was quiet. She just sat on the chair, supporting her chin with both hands and fixing her eyes on him.

If he said it didn't affect him, it would be pure bullshit.

Brian closed the papers and leaned on the chair back, staring at Joanne straightly. "Why do you look at me?"

Joanne smiled and said it bluntly, "Because you are handsome."

Brian was not easily fooled and squinted, "But I remembered that you preferred watching movies here."

"Oh," Joanne said easily but firmly, "Darling, actually, you are more interesting than movies."

""

"Well" Joanne felt certainly embarrassed, so she took one opened file to Brian, "You still have lots of work to do, so you can continue to work now, and I continue to watch you!"

Brian was really busy so he had no time to waste, then he soon got back to work.

From Joanne's view, she could see clearly Brian's straight nose and dense eyebrows. She didn't know what he read in the file, because he would knit her brows sometimes and then slowly loosen them.

The moment he knitted and relaxed his brows, his gesture was very attractive.

Joanne carved this action deeply in her mind.

In the remaining time, she wanted to fill up her memory with all of Brian's small actions. It had better be long enough to accompany her through the rest of her life.

Brian finished reading all the files on the table at twelve and put the pen back in the brush pot. He turned to Joanne and found she was still in that gesture, fixing her eyes on him. She stood up before he spoke. "I'm a little hungry, let's go for lunch."

Brian was going to ask the secretary to book a restaurant, Joanne stopped him and said, "I want to go to the staff canteen."

Brian preferred to have lunch in his office if there was no engagement. Though the food was also made by the staff canteen's chef, he never ate in the staff canteen.

It was not because of his status, but the noisy environment he couldn't get used to and sights from all around when he was eating.

Joanne was quite excited and pulled him downstairs to the canteen with a reason she just came up with. "If someone ask us why we go to the staff canteen, we can tell him we're saving money!"

"" Brian couldn't help laughing.

Half the staff knew the president's wife came to the company this morning, but it was quite amazing to saw both of them in the canteen.

The noisy canteen became quiet at that moment and hundreds of people stared at Brian and Joanne. Some staff even put their chopsticks down and stood up to greet them cautiously. Since then, Joanne realized it might be a bad idea to come here.

Gavin heard the news and came. He asked the staff to sit down and said, "It's rest time now. Mr. Brian and her wife is only here for lunch, just like all of you. So don't stand up and enjoy your meal."

The staff sat again, and then the atmosphere in the canteen recovered. Joanne and Brian chose their meal and sat down at a table.

Joanne tried one salmon sushi and nodded. "The chef did a good job."

"Will we hire an unprofessional chef?" Gavin scoffed and complained. "Thousands of staff are easy to cater to. But your husband isn't. But now everything is fine because you've conquered him."

Joanne was taken aback by his words.

It was true, Brian was so picky about food. If it was not the type of food he liked, he would reject it directly. He was so willful that he eventually had serious problems with his stomach. If she left...

"What are you thinking about?" Brian stirred the salad and pushed it before Joanne, "Hurry up and eat."

Joanne came to her senses and took a bite of it. Though she found herself in a bad appetite right now, she must pretend to enjoy it.

It was the last time they spent together. How could she not cherish it and spend it happily?

After lunch, Brian went back to the office. Joanne walked around in the secretary's office and also returned.

Brian thought that Joanne might be bored of him for the whole morning, but this time she moved the chair beside him and sat down carelessly.

He tilted his head, and Joanne immediately smiled and pretended to surrender. "I will sit here quietly and promise I won't bother you!"

Actually, in such a short distance, he could smell the scent from her occasionally. And of course, it had disturbed him.

But he couldn't deny, such kind of interruption was enjoyable for him.

Brian said nothing and continued to work. At two o'clock, Brian had a meeting for more than an hour, and he found Joanne was yawning leaning on the table when he came back.

He walked towards her and asked, "Do you want to have a rest in the lounge?"

"No," Joanne straightened her back. "I'm not sleepy."

Brian knew her well. If she was sleepy... she couldn't help it.

He sat down to work and talked to Joanne between his reading. At first, she could answer with a few mumblings, leaning on the table. Nevertheless, soon after, there was no feedback.

He looked at her and found she indeed had fallen asleep.

Brian put down the pen and picked Joanne up. She glanced at him with a sleepy face. Brian walked while saying, "I will take you to the lounge."

Joanne didn't even mumble this time. She turned around and buried her head into Brian's arms, and then fell into deep sleep.

She didn't sleep too deep and still could feel things. She felt sleepy and was put in a warm quilt. Someone carefully tucked her in and kissed her gently between her eyebrows.

At that moment, her breath was full of the familiar breath of Brian's, which made her feel at ease.

Surrounded by this easiness, Joanne fell into deep sleep.

When she woke up, it was almost six o'clock. Daytime in winter was short, the setting sun dimmed down, and the night fell.

Brian pushed open the gate, seeing Joanne awake. He took her coat from the hanger. "Get up, let's go home."

Go home-How beautiful the two words sounded, right?

Joanne obediently got up and got dressed, coming downstairs with Brian.

At some point, she got bold and decided not to care about how the staff saw them. She clutched to Brian as if she wanted to stick herself on him. "Darling"

For just awoke, her voice full of lethargic, called darling, darling The voice was sweet and graceful, those secretaries stared at her strange. But she seemed didn't care and still pestering Brian.

In the elevator, Brian squinted his eyes. "What's wrong with you today?"

Joanne blinked her eyes and was puzzled, "What happened?

"You are strange today." Brian said.

Joanne curled her lips, flung herself into his arms and embraced him suddenly, smilingly said, "Which kind of strange?"

Brian tapped her lips with long fingers, "Here."

Usually, she only sweetly called him darling on special occasions or when she was in a good mood.

However, she wasn't careful with those words today. She used them more frequently than usual, which made his heart itch as if a kitten were poking on it.

Joanne knew what Brian meant, but she wanted to play a trick on him.

She stood on tiptoe and kissed him, her peach-blossom-like eyes seemed brighter and the smile on her face looked bigger.

Then, she asked slowly, "How about now?"

Brian squinted his eyes again, and Joanne received the signal--It was danger.

That being said, the elevator carriage was just this large. She couldn't escape. If Brian wanted to do something, she would just let him.

Brian indeed wanted to do something but just as he seized Joanne, the elevator door suddenly opened. "Ding-" Here was the first floor.
