Chapter 320 Brian Signed

Wendy thought about it, but decided to repeat only the first half of what Gavin said and told Joanne, "Cousin, your husband's boring assistant said that the wounds of cousin were all handled. If he did not go to the hospital, he shouldn't be seriously injured. Do not worry."

"Wendy, thank you for today." Joanne forced a smile.

Wendy shook her head and wanted to say something, but in the end she swallowed her words and watched Chris and Joanne leave.

Even if she told Joanne, even if Brian was extremely disappointed, he still thought about her and cared that she needed someone to take care of her at that time. So what?

The divorce between them might be the final conclusion. And she still didn't understand, what magic love had to make Joanne willing to pay such a heavy price?

...

Chris's car was galloping on the endless road.

Joanne sat in the passenger's seat, leaning her head against the window, and the scenery outside the window continually passed by her eyes. She couldn't see it clearly, and she couldn't remember it.

Just like her marriage with Brian; she thought they could spend a lifetime together, but they could not finish even half of it. Things were going to end between them.

If the beauty of the past and the heartache at the moment weren't so true, she even suspected that the love life of her and Brian after the marriage had only been a dream.

Twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of the police station, and Chris accompanied Joanne to submit the resignation report.

Captain Turner was not willing to accept. "Joanne, if you have something to deal with, I can promise you a long vacation. No matter how long it takes, you can come back to work after you handle things."

Joanne smiled gratefully. "Captain Turner, thank you. But this time, I may not be able to come back to work for several years, so..."

She did not say anything further, but Captain Turner had already understood that she had to go, so she had no choice but to accept her resignation report and approved it.

Joanne was also reluctant to give up, but she was obviously not suitable for that job while being pregnant.

"Let's find a time, and eat together," Captain Turner said, "if you go, we may not be able to see each other often."

Joanne nodded. "Okay."

"And, I remember that you have information of several cases on you..."

"I will bring them here in a few days," Joanne said.

Joanne had quit her job, one she had earned after passing the written test and interview screening, and left the police station.

She was a little bit dizzy; until the camera lights flashed wildly, she realized that it was full of reporters outside.

She was surrounded by reporters when she stepped out of the police station, and Chris could only try to block them for her.

But the reporters and the cameras were getting out of control. Joanne was tightly surrounded, and the microphone had almost reached in front of her.

"Mrs. Lambert, the news said that Lawyer Zayn, who is responsible for Lambert Group' legal affairs, went to meet Mr. Lambert today. Are they discussing your divorce?

"Mrs. Lambert, we have received news that today you went to the obstetrics and gynecology department of the Eighth Hospital to have an abortion. Is this true?"

"Mrs. Lambert..."

Joanne's face was getting more and more pale. She just wanted to escape from there, but she was surrounded by reporters. She had nowhere to escape.

Fortunately, Captain Turner rushed out, forcibly separating the reporters, and finally made a way to send her to the car.

Chris hurriedly thanked Captain Turner and stepped on the gas pedal without hesitation. Gradually, the questions and the lights of the reporters were left far behind, and he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Joanne simply couldn't.

Just then, the reporter said that Lawyer Zayn had gone to the company to see Brian... He was obviously injured, why didn't he go home to rest?

Did he hate her so much that he wanted to divorce her immediately?

The dark night drowned the entire car.

Joanne had an illusion that her life was also heading into the darkness, one that was never ending...

Chris saw through Joanne's despair and reminded her, "Joanne, you are not alone now. This is not the end of you and Brian. Just think everything going in the right direction."

Joanne's hand stroked her belly, looking down at the still flat place where babies were conceived-

That morning Brian had suddenly gone to see her; he obviously was already aware of her pregnancy.

She had panicked, and Brian behaved just as she had thought, trying to take her home.

She clearly knew that once she went back with him, everything she had done would have been done in vain.

So the solution she thought of was to use the pregnancy-if she could let Brian know that she didn't want this child, cruelly getting rid of the child, Brian would be disappointed in her. As much he loved her before, it would then be as much as he would hate her.

She succeeded. Brian believed that she had killed the child; the signature she wanted... she should get it sooner.

Obviously it was a good result. She did not hurt her child and Brian was finally willing to divorce her. But she felt heavy, just like a boulder pressing against her heart, which made her unable to move and unable to breathe...

After she returned home, Joanne remembered a very important thing. "Brother, can you arrange it for me? I have to get an examination and I can't let Brian find out."

"Wendy has arranged it for you," Chris said, "a week later, go to the hospital on the grounds of checking your body, and she'll help you with the rest."

Joanne nodded, and sat on the sofa powerlessly. Chris asked what she wanted to eat. She answered, "I am not hungry."

"You have to eat anyway," Chris disagreed, "Wendy warned you especially on the way back. Not only the three meals should be normal, but you have to add food if necessary. How about drinking bone soup today?"

Joanne touched the lower abdomen and reluctantly promised, "Okay."

After dinner, Joanne returned to her room early. She had nothing to do; she sat on the bed and played with the computer.

She didn't know where she accidentally touched; a neatly folded note fell from it.

She opened the note and Brian's familiar handwriting came into view:

A lifetime of peace.

The four words on the back of the paper were neatly arranged; the strokes were full of piety.

Brian had no faith and never believed in anything, but believed that the peace symbol was really useful. He believed that as long as he wrote "a lifetime of peace," she would really spend her life peacefully.

Joanne couldn't help but smile, and before the smile disappeared, the tears came out.

She suddenly missed Brian, missing his arms, missing his voice, missing his reassuring breath...

But she could only see his photos.

In the unlocked screen of the mobile phone, the photo of her and him kissing in front of the Eiffel Tower came into view.

She caressed Brian's cheek on the screen. Since he wanted her to be safe all her life, she would be like that every single day.

After all, everything had just started.

On the next day.

Joanne had just finished breakfast, then Gavin went to visit.

Gavin held a folder in his hand and handed it to Joanne. He said, "Take a look. If there is no objection, sign your name on it, and Brian will take care of the rest."

Joanne guessed what was in the folder, but when she saw the words "divorce agreement", her heart still trembled.

However, she could not reveal any flaws in front of Gavin. She pretended to calmly glance at the agreement, which was similar to the one she had previously planned, but only changing the regulations on property division.

It was stated that Brian's apartment in Central City, as well as a single-family villa in a high-end residential area, and two cars would be transferred to her name. In addition, Brian would also pay her a substantial amount of support each month until she remarried.

"These"

Joanne just wanted to say no, and she was interrupted by Gavin, "You can't refuse these."

"..." Joanne did not understand why.

"After your divorce, Brian must announce it to the public. If the media finds out that he has not given you anything, it is inevitable that someone will speculate that the fault is on you so that you get nothing," after a pause, Gavin said, "Moreover, he specifically said yesterday that he was not interested in modifying any terms and signing the name again."

"..." Joanne turned to the last page and saw Brian's signature. It looked like he did not hesitate.

She took the pen, and its tip reached the place where she should sign it. She suddenly felt that the pen on her hand was heavy and she could not move.

"Joanne?" Gavin asked in confusion.

Joanne suddenly came around and said, "In this case, I accept."

She signed the name without hesitation, and found an excuse to ask Gavin to leave, so that she could use the phone to photograph hers and Brian's signature. After Gavin returned, she handed him the agreement as if nothing happened. "Thank him for me."

"I don't dare to say it," Gavin put the agreement into the portfolio and said, "He is now like a bomb. I don't know when it will explode; I won't find a way to kill myself."

Gavin quietly looked at Joanne, trying not to miss any of her subtle expressions.

Joanne lowered her eyelashes and said, "What happened to him, I don't care."

Gavin put on a meaningful smile, got up and left, and he did not forget to remind her to read the news before leaving.

Joanne knew what news would appear on the Internet without looking. It was nothing but 'Brian and lawyers discussed divorce matters; Joanne had an abortion and insiders said that Joanne had resigned.'

She didn't want to see that. She had more important things to do than watching the news-she sent the photos she had just taken to Rowdy.

Soon she received a call back from Rowdy.

Rowdy smiled at the phone and laughed like a snake. "Good, although the time has dragged a little longer, I am very satisfied."

"Remember what you promised me," Joanne said, "Otherwise, if I can let Brian sign the divorce agreement, I can also explain it to him-if you dare to touch Lambert Group again.

Rest assured, said Rowdy, Lambert Group is now vulnerable, what fun would I have to do that?

Joanne secretly cursed, "Creep!"

"Let me think about what I want to do next," after a pause, Rowdy slowly said, "Joanne, if you become mine, would Brian expose himself?"

Joanne suppressed the anger that rose in her heart and smiled. "He only doubts."

Why? Rowdy was very curious.

"My ex is Brian. The next one, if I can't find a guy richer than him, then I have to find one who looks better than him," Joanne smiled coldly and continued, "you would understand why I said this after you go back and look yourself in the mirror."
