Chapter 331 Miss Her Soberly

Inside the hospital ward-

The last thing Brian remembered was the elevator door closing.

Just like that day, he had no time to rush to the hospital to stop Joanne from getting rid of the baby. Today he had no time to make her stay.

The heavy pain knocked him down, and he fell to the ground. Darkness surrounded him.

He felt like he had slept for half a century. When he woke up, it was silent. The whole ward was only dimly lit by a wall lamp. He vaguely saw a person at the bedside.

It was not Joanne, she had already left with Shawn.

Iris noticed that Brian woke up and turned on the big chandelier, and the light suddenly filled the room.

Brian squinted to get used to the light and saw the person sitting at the bed and called out, "Mom."

Iris responded and tucked him in. "Hungry? I brought some soup; shall I heat it for you to eat?"

Brian nodded, so Iris got up and went to the outside kitchen.

Brian removed the quilt and got up. His physical discomfort had completely disappeared, and he walked to the window. The night view of the city fell into his sight.

He remembered Joanne's every move today. When he was sick, her distress was genuine, as well as the fact that she had left with Shawn resolutely.

The contradiction before and after could not be explained. He certainly missed something.

Iris came in with hot soup, and she saw Brian standing still at the window.

She walked over to him. "Joanne should be sleeping at this time. Don't think about it, come over and eat something, so that you won't have a stomachache again."

Brian sat down on the sofa and picked up the soup. Iris suddenly asked, "What do you think about Joanne's thing this time?"

"I do not believe it."

Brian's tone was faint, but each word contained extreme determination.

He did not believe that Joanne was going to divorce him. After last night, he would not believe it even more.

He only believed that Joanne had something hidden from him.

Iris was a little gratified. "I don't believe it either. But what is going on here?"

"Mom, don't worry about it," Brian said. "I will figure it out."

Even if Iris wanted to take care of it, she did not know where to start. So she sighed and nodded. In this case, other than believing in her son, she had no better choice.

After eating the soup, Brian had Gavin take Iris back, then called the attending doctor to talk about his discharge.

The doctor was very embarrassed. "Mr. Lambert, in this situation, it is really not suitable for you to be discharged. Otherwise, it is not as simple as an injection if you come in next time, and it is very likely that you need surgery."

"Tomorrow afternoon, help me get discharged from the hospital." Brian didn't want to discuss it. "I have a lot of things to deal with, and it is not convenient for me to stay in the hospital."

"...Fine." The doctor ground his teeth and promised him. "A few more checkups will be done on you tomorrow morning. If the results are optimistic, you can leave the hospital. But if you have any discomfort after being discharged, you must come back to be checked out in time."

In the afternoon of the next day, Brian was discharged from the hospital. A large group of reporters surrounded the hospital.

He frowned, thinking that the hospital had leaked the news, but then saw that Rosalyn came out from a minivan, smile, and come over to him under the view of the cameras.

"Hey," Gavin sighed, "this is called a strategy! Is Miss. Han trying to make the love affair between you to be true?"

"Look at the media that came," Brian said, "and go greet their editors."

Gavin was surprised. "Do you really need me to?"

Brian looked at him with cold eyes and Gavin immediately went to make the call.

. At this time, Rosalyn came over to Brian, laughing in a charming and shy way, and said generously, "I'm here to pick you up."

Brian looked at the media reporter behind Rosalyn.

Rosalyn smiled and shrugged helplessly. "I can do nothing about it, they can always get my schedule."

Brian hooked his lips. If looking closely, only coldness in that smile could be seen.

Rosalyn was stunned and still did not respond, and the sound of the shutters suddenly stopped. The reporters of various media were answering their phones, and after hanging up the phone, they quickly left with a trace of horror on their faces.

She slowly understood what Brian had done and barely maintained a smile. "Do you hate me so much that you don't want to be in the same report as me?"

"I don't want to appear in the entertainment version of the newspapers." Brian avoided Rosalyn and wanted to leave.

He didn't hate Rosalyn, he just didn't even want to see this person, not to mention talk with her.

"Stop!" Rosalyn blocked Brian's way. "Why? Is Joanne not worse than me?"

Brian squinted, and there was a coldness at the bottom of his eyes. "What qualifications do you have to be compared with her?"

"..." Endless sadness drowned Rosalyn's heart. Everything she did was all for Brian, but she did not even qualify to be compared with his ex-wife.

She shook her head in disbelief. "Brian... you were not like this before."

Although Brian did not explicitly say that he liked her, he still treated her differently than other women.

He did not refuse to chat or eat with her or even care about her acting career. Without Brian, she did not know how many years it would take to attain her current achievements, and how many grievances would be required to have her current status.

"Rosalyn," Brian looked at Rosalyn, and in addition to the indifference in his eyes, there was only unfamiliarity, "you were not like this before, either."

At this time, Winston drove the car over. Brian got in the car and did not look back at Rosalyn, who was standing in the same place.

Gavin looked at her. If he was not mistaken, Rosalyn had tears on her cheeks.

In his impression, Rosalyn was very concerned about her image, no matter when, and she would not easily forget herself in front of people, not to mention cry.

Today, Brian really hurt her, but she also asked for it.

Speaking of that, Rosalyn really should learn from him because he never pursued the wrong thing, no matter how beautiful it was.

It was like a headhunter who didn't understand the situation to probe him, and promised him the yearly salary of a million and the company's share. But his first reaction was not excitement, as the high-ranking position was not suitable for him.

Unlike Brian, who could work for 16 hours a day without eating, drinking, or having fun, he would feel that his life had too much suffering.

Therefore, he would just be an assistant to Brian, and he was very happy when he watched Brian working.

"Uhh," Winston broke the silence inside the car, "go home or...?"

Gavin wanted to take Brian home, but Brian, who sat in the back seat, said before him, "Go to the company."

"You just left the hospital!" Gavin screamed. "Go home and take a rest for half a day, I will take care of the company. Rest assured, I will not let the company go bankrupt."

Brian said, "I don't want to deal with the company's business."

Gavin understood.

For the current Brian, the company's business was not more urgent than what he wanted to do.

It was Joanne.

Gavin said nothing, even if he wanted to, he did not dare to say it. He did not want to be sent to the broken place where the bird did not poop.

Brian's discharge from the hospital caused media coverage, but no media dared to mention Rosalyn picking him up.

It was obvious that so many reporters saw it, and a lot of photos were taken. But after Gavin's "greeting", no media dared to hit the trigger, and they gradually realized that some things might not be what Rosalyn wanted them to see.

Brian's life was restored to how it was a week ago, and he had arranged endless work for himself every day, working more than 14 hours a day.

The only difference was that at night, he no longer touched the wine. Others knew that he had just had his stomach bleeding so they didn't force him to drink.

In this way, he was awake every day when he returned home.

He missed Joanne soberly.

Since returning home that day, Joanne had never been to the house.

First, Chris did not trust her to go out alone. Second, she became more and more lazy, and gradually became obsessed with the life of eating and sleeping. She never thought about going out.

After finding out that Brian was discharged from the hospital, she was even more relieved, and she just slept every day.

Chris was quite worried. "Joanne, I don't mind supporting you. But you are pregnant, and proper walking is needed. Tomorrow, you will go downstairs to walk with me for 40 minutes after dinner."

"Oh, tomorrow will not work." Joanne took an apple and leaned back on the sofa. "Tomorrow I have to have dinner with Captain Turner."

Chris did not know what to do, only to tell her, "Pay attention to when you eat, and don't drink."

"Rest assured," Joanne took a bite of an apple, "I know."

Before going to sleep, Joanne spat again, but the situation was more serious than before, and her stomach was empty. Her face was pale and it looked white like paper, without any vitality.

Chris handed her a cup of warm water. "I will have Wendy arrange a checkup for you the day after tomorrow."

Joanne counted the days, and it was almost time to do the first checkup. She nodded and said, "The book says that morning sickness is normal. For some people, it is serious while some people feel fine. As long as they can eat and drink, it should be no problem."

"You are carefree about it." Chris smiled helplessly. "Go back to sleep."

"Good night!" Joanne returned to her room.

The next day, Shawn went to pick up Joanne to go to the hotel after work.

Joanne wrapped herself up with a thick coat and a warm scarf before she went downstairs. Shawn said, "They have already arrived at the hotel."

"Yeah," Joanne put her bag aside, "then drive faster."

However, Shawn still drove slowly, maybe because he was afraid that she was so sensitive that she might feel sick during the pregnancy. He had always been such a careful person.

Joanne smiled and said, "The girl who will marry you in the future will be very happy!"

Shawn smiled a little and didn't deny it.

The girl he wanted to make happy was already married.

When they arrived at the hotel, Shawn said, "Today we are having a family dinner. My parents and uncle are here."

Joanne and Shawn were not talking about the same situation, so she stupidly was worried. "Then would you have to run at both ends? You will be drunk."

"..." Shawn looked at Joanne silently. He was sure that Joanne had forgotten what he had said a few days ago.

After being seen this way, Joanne remembered it suddenly and asked with uncertainty, "What arrangements do you have?"

Shawn mysteriously smiled. "You will know soon."

Joanne was intrigued, but no matter how she asked, Shawn would not disclose half of it, she could only follow him.

Just as they disappeared behind the hotel door, a black car drove into the hotel parking lot, and soon after, Brian and Gavin got out from the car.

Brian and Gavin were outside the plan of Shawn.
