Chapter 342 Getting Married? No Way!

The next day was the first day of the new year.

When Freya woke up, her back was aching and her bones were as tired as if they had been disassembled and reassembled. She did not even want to move a finger.

She found a comfortable position and went to sleep with her head buried, but there was a strange feeling in her hands.

When she opened her eyes, she found that Chris put her hand in the palm of his hand and stroked her fingers from time to time.

Boring!

Freya decisively pulled Chris's hand over to use as a pillow, closed her eyes, and when she was going to sleep, she suddenly heard Chris ask her, "Why did you cut your hair?"

After a long silence, Freya reluctantly said, "On the first day when I left, I began to miss you as soon as the plane landed. It was so annoying. Later, I had my hair cut and wanted to change my hairstyle and mood."

However, facts had proved that it was useless to change one's hairstyle. What one should think was beyond control.

Chris stroked Freya's short hair.

In fact, her hair cut short was also very good-looking, making her facial features more delicate, and the contour was decorated very clearly with the color of the hair, which made her look more decisive.

When being sexy and capable were perfectly combined and displayed on a beautiful woman, it would draw much attention. Chris knew very well how much attention Freya would attract once she left her home.

Chris suddenly had a feeling that Freya was a wild horse. Although he had the reins, she could run away at any time if she wanted to-just like she recently left for three months.

Chris unconsciously hugged Freya and called her name,"Freya."

After a long time, Freya just lazily answered, "Hmm?"

"Let's get married."

The tone of Chris's voice was normal, and she could not feel any ups and downs in his mood. However, if she listened carefully, she could recognize that he said every word clearly.

As if every word and sentence were the voice from the deepest part of his heart.

Freya opened her eyes and her whole being froze in Chris's arms.

Having chased Chris for 10 years, she had fantasized about Chris saying this sentence to her countless times, and hundreds of different courtship scenarios had occurred in her mind.

But there was absolutely no scene like this-in the bedroom bed, without a decent ring!

Freya became angry and the consequences were very serious.

She turned to face Chris. "Do you think I'm easy to talk to when I come to you and forgive you?"

Chris was not sure whether Freya was angry or not and he denied it. "No."

Freya sat up around the quilt and felt the urge to strangle Chris. "Then why did you propose to marry me so casually? Will you at least prepare it and show more sincerity?"

Didn't she deserve a painstaking proposal that would cause a sensation in Arlington?

This time, Chris confirmed that Freya was not angry, but very angry.

He took Freya back into his arms. "Do you remember the question you asked me yesterday?"

Freya thought for a moment, and she seemed to ask Chris if she was cheap for being so active? Chris did not answer her.

Well, was Chris going to tell her the answer now?

In Freya's expectant eyes, Chris said slowly, "I want to marry you. Is this answer satisfactory?"

If he did the same thing to other girls, Chris knew very well that he would not be forgiven so easily. If she did not torture him almost to death, he would still be a liar.

But Freya was so frank and she would pursue him if she liked, and she would leave for some time if she needed time to calm down. She would come back to tell him the answer if she figured everything out, so she almost never thought in a complicated way.

He used to associate with smart and capable working women, but he didn't want to spend too much effort to explain everything. He was too tired. He hoped that both of them could get together easily.

Yesterday, Freya came to him on her own initiative. Only then did he understand why he fell in love with Freya-because beneath her enchanting and flamBriant appearance was wrapped a very simple and transparent heart. She didn't calculate anything nor plan anything.

So only being with Freya could make him relax his tight nerves and fall asleep safely.

However, these were not the reasons why he wanted to marry Freya. Even if Freya's IQ and EQ both dropped off after marriage, he would probably not be bored if she tried to make trouble with him.

Because... he was afraid that she would leave again.

If this was not love, then Chris did not know how to understand the word "love".

Freya thought about it with her simple mind for a while to understand the meaning of Chris, then nodded, "Very satisfied."

"Then..."

Chris was interrupted only after saying one word. "Were you proposing?" Freya asked.

"... Kinda." Chris considered it for a moment before answering.

"Oh, I don't agree," Freya said lightly. "It's too shabby!"

Chris,""

For the first time in 30 years, he proposed to marry a woman, but he was looked down upon with shabbiness as the reason. What else could he say?

It seemed that he could only comfort himself by thinking that it was good that Freya did not refuse completely.

Freya looked up at Chris. She sighed and touched his face. "Do you want to cry?"

Chris grit his teeth, pressed against Freya's lips, and twirled his tongue, as if he was going to suck the air from her lungs.

Before Freya felt that she was going to suffocate, Chris relaxed his hold on her. She suddenly remembered something. "What time is it?"

Chris smiled. "It's past 11 o'clock."

"shit!" Freya almost bounced off the bed. "Why is it so late?" She had just woken up not long ago, how could it already be after 11 o'clock!

Chris half-smiled. "We only went to sleep at four in the morning. Isn't it normal to sleep until this time?"

Freya did not know whether she should be shy or angry, so she kicked Chris and slipped into the bathroom.

After washing, Freya hurriedly said that she would go back. Chris originally wanted to send her, but he received a call from Iris.

"Chris, are you home? I want to come see you."

"I am at home," Chris said. "Shall I pick you up?"

"No, Old Qian will take me there." Iris smiled. "I'll be there in about an hour."

Freya had already recognized the voice, so she put on her high heels, saying, "You don't have to take me. Aunt Iris will definitely ask about Joanne, you tell her that she went shopping with me early in the morning."

Chris still sent Freya downstairs, and not long after he went upstairs, Iris arrived.

Iris brought a lot of things, including the fruits and snacks that Joanne liked. When she sat down, she swept the whole room and asked, "Where did Joanne go? Why didn't I see her?"

"She went out to go shopping with Freya in the morning." Chris told the previously prepared lie calmly. "Auntie, if you want to see her, I will call her to come back in advance."

"You don't have to." Iris waved her hand. "I just wanted to see how she was during this time. Is she good?"

"Just like before the wedding, she goes out once in a while and stays at home to watch things most of the time. I'll let her see you in a couple of days." After a pause, Chris asked, "How about Brian?"

Iris said with a wry smile, "The whole company has been on annual leave. He is still working as a boss. He went home to eat dinner with me yesterday, stayed at home for one night, and left today."

"Auntie, you should not worry about the matter of Brian and Joanne," Chris said. "Their situation is different from others, only they can solve it themselves."

Iris also understood that, so she nodded and she talked about something casual with Chris before getting up and leaving.

Chris looked at the time and found that it was still early. He called the hospital and asked Joanne about the situation. Since there was nothing wrong there, he took the tea and some gifts that Jack had prepared and drove to the Norris Family's house.

At this time, Freya had returned home.

She was ready to be scolded. Unexpectedly, Mr. Norris and her mother did not intend to scold her.

Out of curiosity, she took the initiative to look for the blame. "Mr. Norris, Mother, aren't you angry with me? I stayed out all night!"

Mr. Norris spread out his hand. "We should get used to it in advance; anyway, you will always marry in the future."

Miss Norris smiled meaningfully. "Besides, you said that you were going to accompany Joanne. Why should we be angry about it?"

Freya was not used to Mr. Norris and her mother becoming so open, as she sat down on the sofa. "Don't! How did Chris brainwash you? Do you really agree with me getting together with him?"

"Travis is already getting married, and you like Chris so much. I happen to find that Chris is a good person. Why should we stop you?" Mr. Norris smiled and changed his tea. "Moreover, would it be different if we continue to oppose you?"

Freya did not think about it and said, "No!"

"See?" Mr. Norris dumped the tea-washing water and sighed. "My daughter hasn't married yet, and she's already with someone. But since someone wants her, I will agree, so that I don't keep you at home to piss me off all the time."

When Freya was feeling helpless, the auntie who was helping around the house was coming toward them. "Mr. Norris, Mrs. Norris, Mr. Scott has come. He looks... quite formal."

"Ask him to come in." Mrs. Norris pulled Freya upstairs and left the space downstairs to Chris and Mr. Norris.

Chris carried some things in and he was not surprised when he saw Mr. Norris drinking the tea alone in the living room. He put down the things to explain. "Uncle, I want to talk to you about me and Freya."

Mr. Norris gestured for Chris to sit down. "Before you say anything, listen to me first. In the morning yesterday, Freya was unhappy, saying that the night before she made you angry and she wanted to take the initiative to find you. Her mother stopped her and said that a girl should not act like that. But she said that she didn't know what it was, she only knew what she wanted. Listening to this, I knew that you are the only one for her in this life."

Chris did not speak as he poured a cup of tea for Mr. Norris and listened to him.

"I will give my only daughter to you." Mr. Norris took Chris's tea and patted the back of his hand. "She really likes you, and I hope that you can really treat her well."

"Uncle, you can rest assured." Chris was more serious than when making a commitment to a partner.

"I believe in you, but for the record." Mr. Norris smiled. "In the future, if Freya tells me that she is being bullied by you, even if I lose the entire Norris Group, I will not let you go."

"It was not easy for me and Freya to get to this step. I know how I should treat her in the future," Chris said.

Mr. Norris nodded comfortably. "Well, she is upstairs. Go and find her."
