Chapter 356 A Cup of Tea Is Worth More Than You

"Rosalyn, behave yourself."

With that, Brian left right away.

Rosalyn looked at his back, and smiled until she cried.

Never did she cry, even when her work made her tired and she had to go to the hospital alone for an infusion. She thought she could get closer to Brian if she worked hard and succeeded.

But at that moment, reality made her aware that she could never win Brian's heart, even if she won an Oscar.

She wiped away her tears and lit another cigarette.

Successful or decadent, whatever.

To her, success was totally pointless at that point.

Brian returned home half an hour later, when Joanne had just woken up.

Joanne's face looked brighter after sleeping. Seeing Brian in a coat and a scarf, she sat up and asked, "Did you go out?"

"Your brother called me out." Brian was cold, so he did not touch Joanne and just sat by the bed. "Are you feeling better?"

"Yes."

To show that she did feel better, Joanne drank a glass of hot water, and said she wanted to have some porridge.

Hearing that, Martha's face lit up with happiness, and ran downstairs to ask the kitchen to cook some porridge.

Only Brian and Joanne were left in the room.

Brian took a small jewelry box out of the bedside cupboard, and said to Joanne, "Give me your hand."

Joanne did as he said, while Brian opened the box. There was a diamond ring in it, shining under the lights.

At first, Joanne could not believe that she was so familiar with that ring.

When she encountered Brian and Rosalyn in the mall that day, she was so angry about Rosalyn's intentionally harsh words that she took off the ring and gave it back to Brian, who actually threw it away.

"I found it." Brian placed the ring on Joanne's finger and said, "Never take it off without my permission."

Seeing Brian throw away the ring before her, Joanne was heartbroken. She had asked Chris to look for it but was unsuccessful.

She thought she would never find the ring, or even regain it in a short time, so she asked subconsciously, "Did you look for it as soon as I left?"

Brian was surprised, raised his eyebrow and said, "How did you know that?"

"Uh" Joanne said, "I sent guys to look for it the next day, but they found nothing." She showed how happy she felt, while adding, "Actually, I gave it back to you because of Rosalyn!"

"I know." Brian continued to say, "I met her this evening."

Joanne blinked. "Oh."

"Do you want to know what we talked about?"

Joanne snorted. "I can tell, so-I don't care!"

There were still bits of gossip about Rosalyn and him despite the fact that he had taken Joanne back home. As a gentleman, Brian would let Rosalyn clarify first.

What he wanted Rosalyn to do was only to clarify things to the public.

Brian could not be happier, having married someone as clever as Joanne.

He was a smart man, too.

"I also found the reason why Rosalyn agreed to cooperate with Rowdy," he said mysteriously. "Don't you want to know?"

Joanne had been wondering why Rosalyn, the kind of person who could clearly see the pros and cons, would do that. She asked with her eyes brightening, "What was it?"

"It's possibly because of narcotics," Brian said.

Joanne was shocked.

As a public celebrity, Rosalyn should never try narcotics. Let alone the harm they could do to her health.

Although Rosalyn was allegedly unkind to her assistants and other staff, she was still a strong-willed, independent, and persevering able woman in the public eye. Once the public knew that she was taking drugs, her public image as well as her career would collapse. For a woman, it would be hard to make a comeback.

"Are you sure?" Joanne showed how surprised she felt. "This isn't a laughing matter."

"Not really." Brian said, "But it's a fair guess."

"I would be able to tell it if she had been doing that for some time." Joanne shrugged helplessly. "However, she may hate seeing me."

When her voice died down, Martha brought the porridge in.

It was a bowl of rice porridge, in which there were crystal clear rice, bright green chives and fresh lean meat, ready to make her mouth water with its lovely appearance.

Brian scooped a spoon of porridge, blew to cool it, and said gently, "Open your mouth."

Martha smiled with her hands covering her mouth, walked out, and closed the door considerately. Joanne blushed with bashfulness. "I can do it myself"

"You had an infusion, watch your hands." Brian kept the doctor's words in mind, that Joanne's hands could easily become swollen. "Now, just open your mouth."

Chris was also very careful when looking after Joanne, but not as careful as him. While blushing, Joanne felt sweetness throughout her heart.

She could not imagine how she could live without Brian.

After half a bowl of porridge, Joanne lost her appetite. Brian was afraid of making her sick, so he stopped feeding her, and tried to coax her into sleep.

" I just woke up; how could I fall asleep now?" Joanne poked Brian unhappily. "I'm not a pig."

Brian kneaded her face and said, "A pig is exactly what I love."

If a pig was taken good care of, it would always follow his words, never leave him, not act so clever to see through him or fool him.

Joanne was both unhappy and amused; she tried to push Brian away. "I won't be your pig!" At the same time, she recalled something, and said, "By the way, Rowdy said he assigned an undercover guy around Wesley. Does he know?"

"Yes, he nearly guessed who it is." Brian said, "But not for sure."

Joanne thought for a while and said, "Yuna is now working for Wesley. I'd tell her to take care."

Yuna talked to Joanne on the phone with a guilty conscience.

However, rigorous training made it easy for her to hide her emotions. She just answered with "Uh", "Yes", and in the end she said, "I'm good at nothing but observing others as well as surroundings. Don't worry. I'll run once I notice anything unusual."

She did not want to die that early.

"Just be watchful." Joanne asked, "How's Granny Wallace?"

"She feels worse recently, she often asks about Chris and you, but I didn't tell her the truth." Yuna hesitated for a while and asked, "How about you?"

"I'm fine. My problems have been solved." Joanne said, "You can tell Granny Wallace that I'm doing well. Maybe I'll go to Glasgow to visit her."

"Uh" Yuna continued talking with Joanne for a while, and hung up with doubts.

Did it mean that she was back with Brian since Joanne said she had solved her problems? If so

"Yuna."

A haughty and firm voice interrupted Yuna's thoughts. She knew it was from Wesley, without even looking back.

Wesley came in, ran his eyes over her and said with disdain, "Change your clothes, then go out with me."

Yuna looked at herself, who was in a white shirt, light-colored jeans and casual shoes. That was a youthful style. Didn't she look good?

Wesley must have a bad taste!

Wesley glanced her coldly. "Right now!"

"Where are we going?" Yuna asked. Wesley had behaved mysteriously those days, which indeed made her afraid of being sold by him.

Wesley smiled and said, "A cup of tea is worth more than you. Where do you think we will go?"

Yuna took a deep breath, while telling herself to take it easy and get used to Wesley's unkind words. After all, he always spent over 7,000 dollars on half a kilogram of tea; that's why a simple cup of tea would cost a lot!

From what Yuna knew of Wesley, he would take her out for business. So she changed to a pair of black trousers, added a sweater, a coat and a scarf, which looked both lovely and formal. Wesley did not nitpick again and asked her to drive alone, while he got into Kai's car.

Yuna was used to Wesley's changing moods. He even used to ask her not to drive behind his car. So she wasn't surprised at all when she was asked to drive alone.

Within minutes, their cars started and integrated into the evening traffic.

Kai, who drove Wesley, paid attention to the traffic while biting his lips.

Wesley, who sat on the backseat, noticed that and said coldly, "Speak."

"Why did you bring Yuna with you?" Kai was both anxious and confused. "You know, those Europeans are fond of Asian girls, especially girls like Yuna."

Wesley turned his lips into a meaningful smile. "That's exactly why I'm bringing her with me."

"Uh?" Kai was completely confused. "What do you mean?" If so, Yuna could be offended.

He thought Yuna was special to Wesley.

They were involved in some gray area businesses, in which there were certain risks. Although Yuna did a good job, Wesley had never asked her to deal with those businesses. Instead, sometimes he taught her how to conduct and protect herself in such situations.

What's more, there were obviously fewer beauties around Wesley those days.

Kai used to bet with his buddies that Wesley liked Yuna.

But what did Wesley want to do? Why did he bring Yuna with him for those businesses when he actually knew Yuna could be offended?

Half an hour later, their cars stopped in front of a club.

Glasgow was a city with lights turned on all night and the city became more boisterous when it was deeper into the night. At that time, recreation places were full of people and streets were near to the brim with fancy cars.

Yuna got out of the car and felt a cold wind of the early spring night. She drew her coat while hunching her shoulders, and walked toward Wesley.

What Wesley saw was a lovely girl approaching, who buried half of her chin in the light pink scarf, with only her delicate nose, deer-like eyes and bright face visible.

"It's freezing." Yuna skipped unconsciously before Wesley. "Let's go upstairs."

Wesley thought it funny but said nothing, and walked toward to the club gate. Yuna did not understand why he instantly showed a cold face. She complained in her mind, and followed him.

"Yuna" Kai called out with hesitation.

"What?" Yuna looked back at Kai and asked, "Did you forget anything?"

Kai was about to speak, but said, "Nothing!"

"Oh." Yuna smiled and replied, "Then I'm going."

Kai waved his hand to Yuna and said, "See you in a while."

Forget it. Wesley said he was in charge of Yuna. If Kai was gossipy, he would probably be punished.

If Wesley really liked Yuna as he guessed, Yuna would not be offended.

If he was wrong he could only wish that Yuna was clever enough.
