In the garden.
The closer Wendy walked towards Gavin, the more strained his smile looked.
Before Wendy interrogation, he raised his hands to show his surrender and said, "May I explain to you in five minutes what happened that day?"
Seeing his courtesy, Wendy thought it might not be appropriate to bawl at him, so she just waved her hand and said, "Please yourself."
"Although I chose to tie you up that day, I'm not a violent man, but..."
Before Gavin could finish his words, Wendy said with disdain, "Because you're a mad man!"
Gavin twitched his lips with anger, staring at Wendy, and said firmly, "Because you wouldn't tell the truth if I didn't do that."
Wendy pretended to be satisfied with his answer, but asked with a cold smile, "Do you mean that... I deserved it?"
"..."
Gavin had heard that she had a weird comprehension, which he finally witnessed at that moment.
He sat on the bench, looking rather relaxed, and said indifferently, "Clever lady, you got it."
Wendy did not expect him to be that blunt. She approached him, and asked, "Why don't you apologize?"
Gavin smiled and said, "Will you accept my apology?"
"Never! A 'I'm sorry' is nothing." Wendy made a threatening look and said, "You shall pay for what you have done. Take care of me while walking at night!"
With that, Wendy strode into the house, as if she had returned after a victory in war.
Gavin looked at her slim back, thinking of the threatening look she tried to make just then, and shook his head.
"What a young lady. Why did she think she could scare me that way?" He thought.
"I've never been afraid of anything, even if I were threatened with a gun against my head by a dreaded serial killer wanted by the Interpol!"
Meanwhile, Wendy was in the living room, but she did not find Joanne or Brian, who had gone back into the house earlier than her.
Martha said they had not returned yet, and told her that they could be in the back hall.
Wendy then walked to the back hall and saw Joanne and Brian in the kitchen.
Joanne pointed at a dressed chicken, saying, "I want to have tea-smoked chicken!"
Brian took her hand and was about to go out, saying, "The cook will make the dish for you."
Joanne wanted to cook herself, which Brian knew. However, it was plain that he would not agree on that. She just pursed her lips and left the kitchen reluctantly.
Wendy looked at them with curiosity, asking, "Have you been in the kitchen since you were back?" She thought, "Why are they fond of staying in a kitchen?"
Joanne thought of Brian's kiss just then, feeling rather embarrassed, and coughed. "Wendy, what would you like for lunch? Just tell the cook."
Wendy ignored her doubts at once, happily walking towards the fridge to pick something she would like.
Then Martha went to them and said, "Young Master, Young Madam, you've got some visitors."
Joanne held Brian's arm, walked into the living room, and saw three Europeans.
She knew the two girls in the group, who were wedding dress designer Jessie David's assistants.
And she guessed that the young man who looked like an artist should exactly be Jessie David, a mysterious person.
The mysterious young man, popular with all the brides around the world, looked rather graceful. Even Freya, who was always fussy about clothes, used to tell her that: A perfect wedding must include a dress designed by Jessie David.
"Mr. Lambert." Jessie walked to Brian and shook hands with him; he then turned to Joanne, stood straight to show his respect, held Joanne's hand with both hands, kissed her fingers, and said, "Mrs. Lambert, you look even more breathtaking than in your photos." In his eyes, she was indeed an oriental beauty.
Joanne smiled and said, "Thank you."
Jessie took a huge delicate gift box from his assistants, handed it to Brian and said, "It's the wedding dress designed for Mrs. Lambert. I'm sure she will be the most remarkable bride in the world on your wedding day."
"Thank you." Brian took the box.
Then, Jessie's assistants walked to Joanne and said, "Mrs. Lambert, you may try the wedding dress on. If it doesn't suit you well, we'll take it to our workshop and make adjustments."
Joanne subconsciously looked at Brian; he took her hand and said, "Let's go upstairs."
In the bedroom, Joanne showed how surprised she was; she turned around and stared at Brian, saying, "Did you already know that the wedding dress would be sent here today?"
She had been looking forward to it since Brian proposed a new wedding. After all, she used to think it unreachable that she would wear a wedding dress and marry him.
She thought that Brian stopped preparing for the wedding when she was forced to divorce him. Since then, she had not talked with him about that; to her surprise, everything had been arranged well.
"I knew it one day earlier than you." Brian took the wedding dress from the box and said, "Put it on, see if you like it."
"It's too long..." Joanne helplessly said, "I wonder if I can..."
"I'll assist you." Brian took Joanne into the dressing room.
The dressing room was smaller than the bedroom by half, which made Joanne kind of embarrassed. Before taking off her clothes, she blushed, drawing the hem of her coat, and said, "I'd rather you ask Wendy here to help me..."
The latest skin-to-skin contact she had with Brian was just kissing; she could not imagine what would happen if she asked him to help her change clothes...
Brian raised his eyebrow and said, "You can only wear a wedding dress for me. And, I'll be the first one to see you in it."
Joanne's face became redder. "But..."
Before she could finish her words, he took off her coat; she had to cooperate.
Gradually, silence filled the dressing room; his breathing drowned out the rubbing sounds of the dress.
After that, Joanne noticed her completely red face in the mirror; Brian stood behind her, staring at her with deep love while something was shining in his eyes.
Feeling his warm palm, she coughed in embarrassment, feigning easiness, turned to him and said, "How do I look?"
Brian held her waist, which was no longer slim, looked down at her, saying, "You look perfect."
He lowered his voice; Joanne clearly realized that and was about to show the dress to the designer. All of a sudden, he kissed her.
The kiss was gentle and hot, like a torch burning more and more furiously. To begin with, Joanne could do nothing but to be immersed in his affectionate vortex.
Luckily, Brian was still reasonable, and he released Joanne before he couldn't control himself.
Her red face seemed about to bleed; she was dazzled, unable to look right into his eyes.
Brian held her, lowered his head against her forehead, saying, "I want a wedding right now."
Joanne burst into a laugh and said, "You're kidding me. But... when is our wedding?"
"In May this year," said Brian.
"No," Joanne said, "At that time, I'll be much fatter than I'm now; my belly is going to be like a big ball, so it will be impossible for me to put the wedding dress on. Even if it can be altered, I won't look perfect then!"
The only thing she wanted for their wedding day was that she would be at her best.
Brian thought for a while and asked, "How about bringing it forward to next month?"
"No..." Joanne said, "You know, the public thinks we've gotten divorced; it will surprise the media a lot if we hold the wedding so soon. And, you can't spare any time for it since you have to investigate the cause of the Fontine Gardens accident, as well as deal with Rowdy."
Brian had the same idea as Joanne, so he asked her, "When do you think it will be proper?"
"After the babies are born," Joanne smiled and said, "Then you will probably be free."
It would take Joanne several months to recover after the babies' birth, which meant that Brian had to wait for at least a year.
He frowned, showing an extremely unwilling look.
Joanne pointed at her belly and said, "You must wait because of them. It's not my fault..."
"..." Brian felt depressed, thinking: Indeed, it's his fault.
Joanne had not seen him look like that; she stood on her tiptoes and kissed him to comfort him. "That's OK. I won't leave you. Let's go downstairs."
Everyone was there then. With a voice saying "she's coming", all the people in the living room looked up and became quiet at once.
Wendy had heard that: She's so gorgeous that I nearly forget to breathe.
She used to think it was exaggerated; but at that moment, she realized it was true.
There was a beauty that could make others forget to breathe.
And it was exactly Joanne who was in a wedding dress.
The well-cut handmade wedding dress was elegant and youthful with a super texture; it fitted Joanne well and outlined her perfect figure, which made her face more delicate as well as bewitching.
She went downstairs step by step, just like a fairy maiden walking out of a wonderland. They could not take their eyes off her, nor could they breathe for fear that they would disturb such a beauty.
Jessie rubbed his chin and said with amazement, "She looks gorgeous in the wedding dress. I'm willing to spend three years making it, let alone three months."
After Joanne went downstairs, Jessie asked her to make a few movements so that he could see if the wedding dress was the right size.
In the end, Jessie nodded and said, "I'll design the other dresses as soon as possible."
After asking Joanne for her opinions, Jessie left with his assistants. Wendy could not hold back her excitement, saying, "When's your wedding? I wish the whole world could see you in this wedding dress!"
Joanne helplessly pointed at her belly, saying, "Let's talk about it next year. Now, I want to change my dress."
The long bridal gown made it hard for Joanne to go upstairs, so Brian took her in his arms.
Wendy looked at them with envy, and suddenly turned to Gavin, saying, "Was that designer the legendary Jessie David?"
Gavin,"Uh-huh."
Wendy was amazed and said, "Brian is so awesome..."
Jessie David, whom even a vogue veteran like Rosalyn could hardly meet, not only designed and made the wedding gown himself for Joanne, but also took it from abroad to her.
Wendy thought, "I must tell this to the reporters one day and make a whirlwind of media coverage."
She just wanted to piss Rosalyn off.
