Chapter 404 The Real Beast

It took a lot of work for Yuna to find Joanne's ward.

She thought that Joanne was in the OB/GYN ward. When she arrived there, she was regarded as a person with bad intentions. After she made every effort to prove that she and Joanne knew each other, Dr. Hans told her that Joanne was in the suite on the top floor.

Before Yuna entered the suite, the nurse motioned that Joanne wasn't feeling well, and she needed more rest.

That was to say: she'd better leave as soon as possible.

Those days Joanne didn't feel it was difficult to speak anymore. When she saw Yuna, she felt happy and held her hand, asking how she had been in the hospital.

Yuna laughed and said, "When my injuries don't hurt, I even forget that I'm in a hospital. It's like taking a leisurely vacation abroad! I want to thank you for helping me transfer here. If I were in the previous hospital, I couldn't feel as happy."

"The doctor says that a nice mood will do good to the recovery," Joanne said, "I hope you get better soon."

"In fact, I'm able to leave hospital soon." Yuna worried about Joanne and asked, "How about you? Are you feeling well? How long will you stay here?"

"It still needs observation for the doctor to make a decision." After a while, Joanne said, "Yuna, don't tell your grandma that I'm in the hospital."

Yuna nodded and burst into a smile. "But I've told her that Chris plans to get married and that you're pregnant. She's glad to know it, and she said she wanted to attend his wedding!"

Granny Wallace was old, and she had been feeling unwell those days. If she left Glasgow to attend the wedding, Chris would have to prepare a lot. Once he was busy with the wedding, he wouldn't be free to take care of her.

Joanne thought for a while and decided to ask Brian for help. He would ask Gavin to handle that, which she would feel secure about.

She looked toward Brian and saw his abnormal look.

The sharp coldness filled his eyes; he was like a watchman on the city wall at night, guarding against dangers.

However, in the ward, there was nobody else besides him and Joanne, except for Yuna.

Joanne thought, "Who is Brian watching?"

tap-tap-

The unexpected knock broke into Joanne's thoughts. She subconsciously looked toward the entrance of the ward and saw a well-built figure.

Compared with a suit, simple and comfortable casual wear was obviously more suitable for Wesley. The dark color served as a foil to his coldness and mysteriousness. If Brian was a stately man that could make others feel stressed, then Wesley's presence was a deadly threat by itself.

It seemed that if he looked at you, whether you would die or live was up to him and you couldn't resist.

He entered the ward with a bunch of flowers, the camellias that Joanne loved, in his hand. The careful Joanne noticed that he firstly looked at Yuna after he opened the door, then he looked away calmly.

"Uh." She wondered whether he went there to see her, a pregnant woman, or to see Yuna... "That's a question!"

Wesley was good at sending a person to hell, but he wasn't used to showing concern for others. He placed the flowers on the bedside table and chatted with Joanne, which had reached his limit.

Joanne noticed his awkwardness, and she had wanted to tease him. However, when she looked into his cold eyes, she realized it was unwise for her to do that, so she just politely said, "I'm feeling better. Thank you."

Wesley didn't respond. He looked toward Yuna and asked indifferently, "Why are you here?"

In the past few days, Yuna had been waiting for Wesley to show up. After being upset N+N times, she no longer looked forward to seeing him; she wouldn't have expected to meet him in Joanne's ward.

Her reason told her that she should face Wesley frankly, smiling to show her surprise, and naturally call him Mr. Mu as usual.

His breath was so close to her that her heart was beating restlessly, and her thoughts were disrupted.

She couldn't help recalling that night, the loving kiss from Wesley, the temperature of his lips and his light smell...

For a moment, she didn't want to hide her secret anymore, and she wanted to speak it out...

Seeing Yuna in a daze, Joanne called her, "Yuna?"

"Ah?" Yuna suddenly came to herself, realizing her crazy thoughts. She forced a smile to Wesley and said, "I heard that Joanne was in the hospital, so I'm here to visit her. By the way... Oh, that's all, I'm going back to my room!"

She left as if she had been defeated and fled. She rotated the wheelchair, but it slipped from her grasp while she was in a hurry. Then she couldn't help leaning forward, which almost unsettled her injuries.

There was nowhere to hide her panic, and she could only shout angrily toward the outside, "Kai!"

"He has left to handle affairs for me." Wesley replied to Yuna in a calm voice. "Let me take you back."

"..." Before Yuna could realize what had happened, the wheelchair was pushed forward, and they left Joanne's room within seconds.

In the room, Joanne stared at the entrance and slowly said, "Wesley wasn't here to visit me."

Brian smiled with interest and asked, "What did you figure out?"

"Obviously, he was here to visit Yuna." Joanne analyzed meticulously. "When he opened the door, he looked at Yuna first, while he didn't even glance at me, but said he was here to visit me. I think only Yuna would believe those words."

Brian was glad and worried.

He was glad that Joanne was meticulous, so he could set his mind at rest in the future. It also meant that he couldn't be able to hide everything from Joanne.

What Brian was worrying about appeared. Joanne stared at him with her torch-like eyes and said, "And you-when I was talking with Yuna, what were you thinking about? You looked rather abnormal."

Brian was worried that Yuna would harm Joanne without him noticing, so he had been watching Yuna, which was detected by Joanne.

Luckily, he knew how to conceal it and said, "I was thinking about what Rowdy would do next."

Joanne just said, "Oh. No wonder you looked defensive just now."

Brian raised his eyebrow and asked, "Joanne, do you want to continue the topic?"

Joanne shook her head decisively. She wasn't interested in Rowdy, and she could do nothing to help Brian, so she had no interest in that topic.

Her response met Brian's expectation. Brian smiled and asked the caregiver to run the bath for him, then he carried Joanne to bathe.

At the moment, Yuna and Wesley were on their way back to the orthopedics department.

The wards of the lowest standards in that hospital were single rooms, and there were fewer patients in them than in ordinary hospitals. At night, it was quiet, while the long corridors were covered with bright light, seeming to be like rivers of light.

Wesley pushed Yuna's wheelchair without a word. The silence between them was maximized by the quiet corridor, and it shrouded Yuna.

Yuna suddenly felt glad that she was sitting with her back to Wesley.

She didn't dare to face him, because she was afraid that he would talk about the kiss that night, but she was even more afraid that he would forget to mention it.

She was in a dilemma.

Back in the ward, Yuna didn't see her caregiver Linda and thought that she might have left for dinner. She felt more scared while forcing herself to thank Wesley. "Thank you, Mr. Mu."

Her voice sounded rigid and awkward, and there was nowhere to hide her embarrassment. Wesley felt happy inexplicably, then he stepped in front of her with a peaceful look on his face and asked, "Why don't you look at me?" When he had shown up in Joanne's ward, Yuna had been in a tense state, and she didn't dare to fix her eyes on him for even a second.

"Uh..." Yuna looked up with difficulty and said, "Mr. Mu, you're so tall that I feel uncomfortable to look up at you..."

Wesley narrowed his eyes, bent down a little and asked, "Will this-make you comfortable?"

Yuna's long eyelashes flickered twice. For a moment, her mind went blank.

It did make her comfortable, while Wesley's breath did burst in her nose all of a sudden, then she was in a daze again.

What astonished her was that, even when he bent down like that, Wesley's back was still straightened. His shapely inverted-triangle-like figure was faintly visible, full of male hormones.

"Damn it! It's his seduction with his clothes on!" Yuna thought.

Yuna's eyes dodged around, but no matter where she tried to look at, she couldn't calm her disorderly breaths down. Then she looked into Wesley's eyes and said, "You'd better leave me alone!"

Only she dared to ask Wesley to go away again and again.

With hidden dangers deep within his eyes, Wesley looked Yuna up and down. Then he chuckled surprisingly and asked, "Are you scared?"

Uh, he was right. Yuna was scared.

She, the undercover person who liked her target, was on the edge of a precipice and in a dilemma. It seemed that once she stepped forward, she would be dashed to pieces. How could she not be scared?

However, what scared her most wasn't death, but that she couldn't hold back anymore.

When pressed, she might spill out that she liked Wesley.

She had seen Wesley's girlfriends, who were all curvaceous and sweet young girls. While a girl like her, she couldn't be Wesley's cup of tea.

To preserve her last dignity, she would rather die than to be seen through by Wesley. It could only be her that would speak her secret out!

Yuna raised her chin and said, "Nothing can scare me here. Mr. Mu, you're thinking too much...."

"You're afraid of me." Wesley interrupted Yuna easily.

"..." He was right. Yuna didn't know what to say.

Wesley thought that she had acquiesced in his words, then he smiled and asked, "Why?"

His voice sounded joyful. It seemed that he was suddenly in a good mood, and that he was deliberately teasing Yuna.

Whatever, Yuna found his smile annoying. She imagined that she had taken the plaster off her leg and smashed it on his face, then she said, "I'm afraid of a beast like you!"

She meant it because of the kiss that night.

Wesley stared at her rosy lips, thinking it necessary to let her know what a real beast was like.

Yuna felt a shadow leaning toward her. She subconsciously looked up, within a second her lips were covered with two familiar thin lips...
