Chapter 407 Dear, You Are Doing Great

On the next few days, everyone was busy, except for Joanne.

Brian was busy with his business and meetings after work. He always returned late at night when Joanne was asleep or nearly asleep.

Chris was busy as well. Apart from his business, there was also the wedding. Although he had a professional wedding planning team, he insisted to monitor every single thing himself. Freya had been waiting for that wedding for more than ten years; he would not tolerate any flaws or mistakes, not even the minor ones.

Even a lazybones like Freya was busier than before. There were jobs she couldn't reject, so she was forced to work eight hours every day and complained about it to Joanne every day.

Everyone was knee-deep in work, while Joanne was so free, eating and sleeping every day at home; she felt guilty.

That night, Brian worked until 11. He lay down the second he entered the bedroom. Joanne pushed him and said, "I prepared clothes for you. Go shower."

Brian placed his arms around Joanne, regardless of her request. While they cuddled, he said, "I showered." Brian smirked.

"You showered before you came back?" Joanne was surprised. "Why?"

"I had a meeting. And the clients loved smoking and drinking. The whole room was full of the smell of smoke and alcohol. I was afraid that you would feel uncomfortable with it." While Brian was talking, he was gently stroking her bump. He asked, "Did they behave well today?"

"Yeah, just like you." Joanne grinned and said, "Go change your clothes."

Brian's casuals were right in the bedroom, so he didn't go to the closet to change. Instead, he changed in front of Joanne.

Joanne highly suspected that he did it on purpose. But, undeniably, it was indeed a treat to watch someone with a hot body changing! The well-built body and defined muscles, it definitely was a hormone treat.

While having some eye candy, Joanne was a bit touched, being honest.

Brian was a neat freak. He was insanely picky about where he showered. Usually, if he was on a trip and needed to stay at a hotel, he would make sure every surface of the bathroom was sanitized, and he used only the new beddings and new daily necessities or the ones that he had been using. For staying in a room that was previously used, it was the best he could do to stand it.

The club may not be able to prepare all that for him in a short notice. But for her, he would still bear the things that he could never ever stand.

Brian changed and turned around, seeing that Joanne was staring at him with infatuation. He messed with her, saying, "What? Missed me huh? After 15 hours of separation."

Joanne winked, and nodded with honesty. "Missed you like crazy."

Unsatisfied, Brian realized that Joanne was not affected, but he was attracted when she said she missed him like crazy.

The weather was getting warmer. Joanne had put on her thin, silky nightwear. Designed for pregnant ladies, her nightwear seemed a little bit loose. She lay on her side of the bed, and half of her nightwear slipped off her shoulder. Under the warm and yellow light, her skin was glowing glamorously. The protruding collarbone of hers was enchanting at the moment.

Swallowing, Brian walked to side of the bed, gazing at Joanne affectionately. "It was more than crazy,"

He said and kissed Joanne on her lips.

"Mmm..." Subconsciously, Joanne placed her arms on Brian's shoulders.

Brian kissed her in a soft and gentle way; delicately, like a pair of butterfly wings sweeping in her heart. Soon, she was melted in the kiss, unaware.

She could feel Brian's hand was covering her bump, and it was inside her nightwear. Joanne was frozen, looking at Brian helplessly.

Brian grinned, and kissed on the edge of her eyelid. He said, "Fetal education."

For the first few seconds, Joanne bought it. But then, when she thought it thoroughly, it occurred to her "what kind of fetal education was that?"

Brian noticed Joanne's confusion. "I am teaching them the ways of intimacy." He said with all the seriousness.

"..." Joanne didn't know how to rebut.

While Joanne presumed that it would be a sleepless night, Brian stopped. He helped her dress, and left a kiss on her eyebrow. "It's getting late, go to bed."

He seemed normal. But Joanne still recognized the disappointment in his eyes and his purposefully lowered voice.

Joanne coughed, unnaturally. "Wouldn't it... hmm... be uncomfortable for you?"

Brian squinted and said, "Close your eyes and sleep. Or else, you will be the one who feels uncomfortable."

Joanne closed her eyes haltingly. Then, she realized that Brian had a lingering fear, being worried that she would puke again like the last time.

Even though she said that the other incident had nothing to do with the sex, Brian was cautious. She had been slightly moved, but at the moment she was deeply touched.

In the end, she kissed Brian on his cheek, lying in his arms, and fell asleep securely.

Late at night, Joanne suddenly had a cramp on her calf. Her calf was stiff and gave her unbearable pain. She gritted her teeth, but at the end, she couldn't hold it anymore and she sobbed.

It woke Brian immediately. Upon seeing that Joanne was in huge pain, Brian was extremely worried, "What happened? Are you okay?"

Joanne clasped the blanket. "I am having cramps," she said with anguish.

Dr. Hans had told Brian how to deal with that situation. He put away the blanket at once and gave Joanne a massage. He had learned that soothing massage from one of those pregnancy books of Joanne's. He wasn't sure if that could help ease her pain.

A few minutes later, Joanne felt better. "I am okay now," she said.

Brian couldn't feel relieved. He continued massaging Joanne's calf for a few more minutes, and touched her foot. "Feeling cold?"

Joanne shook her head. Then, he tucked her in and wrapped his arm around her, lying down. He said, "I will call Dr. Hans tomorrow."

"It's okay. It was probably just me walking too much today," Joanne said, "And Dr. Hans said that it was normal. I will be careful next time."

In the meantime, Joanne wanted to turn over because her current position was a little bit uncomfortable. However, the big bump restricted her movement. She couldn't turn over on her own.

Brian sensed her attempts and gave her a hand.

Her back leaned on Brian's chest. With Brian's long arms around on her waist, while his hand was covering her bump, it made her feel secure and protected. But...

"Am I useless or what?" She sounded upset. Obviously, she was sad.

It was the first time that Joanne sounded so unconfident. "What do you mean?"

"Mom said that when she was around 6 or 7 months pregnant with you, she couldn't turn over either, but I am barely 5 months pregnant right now."

Thinking thoroughly, she had been spoiled by Brian, so he was the one to blame.

"If you were useless, you couldn't be pregnant with twins." Brian said as if it was the truth, "A normal seven months pregnant mom can't turn over with one baby, but you have two now. So logically speaking, you shouldn't have been able to turn over when you were three months pregnant. But It's five months now." He was comforting Joanne, and kissed her on the back of her ear. "Dear, you're doing great."

Even though Joanne knew that Brian was being ridiculous in a weirdly serious way, she felt better. Smiling, she closed her eyes and slept through the night.

......

Three days later, Yuna was allowed to remove her cast, and was able to walk with a walking stick. She had officially entered the process of rehabilitation, and was approved to be discharged.

Yuna was thrilled about leaving. After all, it was a hospital, no matter how grand and comfortable it was.

However, when she thought about the arrangement after she got out of the hospital, she couldn't be thrilled anymore.

Before, she lived in a villa with Wesley in the suburbs. But after her confession that night, Wesley probably wouldn't want to live with her anymore, right?

Maybe she could ask Kai to book a hotel room for her. But what excuse would she give Kai if he asked? And how would she explain it to Wesley and not be awkward?

"Shit! All I want is just to leave the hospital. No fuss no muss!"

While she was changing, the care worker had packed everything for her and said, "Miss Xu, the car is parked in front of the hospital. Let me send you down."

"Why didn't Kai come up and help me?" Yuna whined while she was walking with the walking stick. "Where did he get his laziness?"

"Umm, it wasn't..." The care worker wanted to explain to Yuna, but she had already gotten into the elevator, so she refrained from talking further and followed her.

Walking out, Yuna saw the car that she was familiar with parking in front of her, but there wasn't a person outside of the car. She grunted and said, "So lazy that he wouldn't get off the car? That's mean."

She poked the door on the driver's side, using her walking stick, "Xue Chengguang, get the hell out of the..."

Before she could finish her sentence, the car was opened. A man, endowed with a well-built body, stepped out and showed up in front of Yuna, staring at her walking stick coldly.

Who else could be that arrogant except for Wesley?

Recalling her memories, Yuna realized that it had been a week since her abrupt confession.

She hadn't heard from him for a week, and she was moving on, slowly...

"What does he mean showing up like that? I thought it was Kai who's gonna pick me up. Besides, I need Kai to help her book a hotel!"

Yuna was frozen, and lost her balance before she could take her walking stick back. She staggered and was falling-

Wesley frowned, but still gave her a hand and held her up.

It was his warmth, his breath... Sensing all the things that belonged to him, Yuna forgot that she was 'kind of' moving on.

She couldn't forget him. As long as she got closer to Wesley, everything she was trying to bury would be awakened, like the elves in the dark, suddenly awakened, haunting her body.

Seemingly, keeping distance was the only way she could move on.

But she has missions with him. How?

In despair, Yuna was lifted, by Wesley. He seemed reluctant, though.

There was a river next to them. Could it be that Wesley was about to throw her into the river?

"Wesley..." Yuna wanted to get off. But then, Wesley threw her onto the backseat of the car. "Seatbelt," he said, sounding rough.

Yuna fastened her seatbelt while still in confusion, thinking that maybe that wasn't a good place to drown her. He was driving her to somewhere else, then, he would drown her.

The car sped on the road. Later, it stopped in front of their villa. "Get off," Wesley ordered Yuna.

Yuna hesitated and didn't move.
