Yuna thought that Wesley would leave after dinner, but no, he was sitting in the living room and talking to her granny.
Yuna always thought that nobody would have the nerve to ask Wesley about his life. If anyone did, he would kick his ass hard.
But at the moment he was sitting on the couch right across Granny Wallace, leaning towards her, listening patiently to the nagging of that old lady, and answering every question she asked with higher tone, which made Granny Wallace very happy.
For a few minutes, Yuna had the illusion that she was dreaming. After all, it was so not Wesley for him to be "nice."
At about nine o'clock, Wesley got up from the couch. "Granny, I think I need to take off now. I will come visit you when I have time."
"Sure, I will be waiting." Granny Wallace stood up, saying to Wesley with a big smile on her face, "Yuna is the kind person who easily gets into trouble. Now she's working for you, so I hope that maybe you can take care of her more and give her more advice."
Wesley smiled. "I will."
He didn't vow or give any solid guarantee. But when he said "I will," it was reassuring enough. Granny Wallace obviously was convinced that he would take care of Yuna.
But on the contrary, the favorite thing he liked to do was bullying Yuna!
Yuna totally despised Wesley at her heart. If she didn't see it for herself, she wouldn't know that Wesley was such a hypocrite.
Granny Wallace beckoned to Yuna, "Yuna, you should send Mr. Mu out."
Yuna said unwillingly, "He knows the way..." Granny Wallace gave her a stern gaze while she was talking, so she had to take that back and sent Wesley out reluctantly.
There was a black Land Rover parked outside, on which the logo was plain and fashionable. No one was in the car, and Wesley went straight to the driver's seat.
Yuna was surprised. It was rare for Wesley to be driving by himself.
On the other side, Wesley lowered the window, lit a cigarette and looked at Yuna relaxingly. He asked, "Are you upset?"
Yuna gave him a strong "Pfft!" and said, "Don't say it as if you've ever made me happy."
Wesley took a deep look at Yuna, frowning. Then, he closed the window and drove away.
"... Unbelievable!"
Yuna gave him the finger as he drove off, and ran back to the house. As she went in, she saw the paper that Wesley had asked for lying on the coffee table. She called Wesley while he still wasn't far, but he responded indifferently, "Leave it. Just bring it to me tomorrow."
"But you..."
Yuna only said two words, and he hung up. She held the phone, puzzled, and froze for a while.
"What's wrong?" Granny Wallace went over and looked at Yuna, beaming. "You look like you've encountered the biggest problem in your life."
Yuna pointed at the documents on the coffee table, "Wesley had said he came for this. I reminded him that he had left them here, but he told me to take them to him tomorrow. If he wasn't in a hurry, why did he come over? Doesn't he have a life?"
Granny Wallace smiled and didn't comment. She asked, "Did he know about your blind date?"
Yuna was embarrassed, "He saw us..."
Granny Wallace confirmed her thoughts and smiled knowingly. But then she saw the confusion on Yuna's face. She decided not to remind her.
Sometimes, it was for the best to leave things for desire and exploration.
After showering, Yuna back to her room and lay down, and kept thinking about how to tell Leo gently that she just wanted to be friends with him. If she kept seeing him, she would hurt him.
She didn't want to hurt anyone anymore.
Yuna kept thinking until she felt sleepy. But still, she couldn't come up with anything. At last, she decided to leave it first. She would make it clear to Leo when he called her again.
Otherwise, making a deliberate phone call to say such things would hurt his feelings.
To her surprise, Leo, who had once showed interest in her, didn't call her in the following days.
Nothing special happened in the following few days. But then, she heard the neighbor mention that Leo was seeing someone who was a law graduate and was interning in the court. They seemed to have clicked, and almost fell for each other at first sight.
When Yuna out that morning, the neighbor held Yuna's hand and said, "Yuna, you two will be as happy as Leo is right now."
...
Yuna couldn't comprehend at all. 'You two?' Which two? So happy?
Feeling confused, she went to the Number One Clubhouse and surprisingly saw Wesley again.
Wesley had been busy for the three days prior. Ever since he had left her place, she hadn't seen him. But then she saw him at the clubhouse in that early morning. It was unexpected. Because normally, Wesley would be having a meeting at the office at that time.
She had a bad feeling. "Brother Wesley, what are you doing here?"
Wesley handed Yuna a white bag with the word "CHANEL" and its prominent brand logo.
Yuna opened the bag. There was an elegant and exquisite purse of CHANEL's classic collection inside. It was all in white, finely made with a superior texture, giving out the vibe of sophistication and refinement.
It was said that it was a purse that could drive every woman crazy.
Yuna tossed the bag away, then flipped the purse inside and out. But there is nothing special in it. She didn't give up and checked it again.
She had flipped it for a while and Wesley frowned. "Yuna, what are you doing?"
"I'm checking for the things that you want me to look for." There was still nothing the second time she examined it. "But I really can't find it. Where in the purse did you hide the launching device or something like that in?"
At the first sight of that bag, Yuna's first reaction was,"This is a modified purse."
The luxury brand was the natural cover, distracting people's attention. But when it was opened, it could turn into a gun that killed people before they realized. Maybe there was a secret button in the purse that could function as trigger, or a secret design for hiding deadly weapons.
Yuna was not being crazy. She was serious. There was only one possible reason for Wesley to give her such a feminine gift. Plus, she was indeed a girl. It was natural that she had a purse or two, which wouldn't cause any suspicion.
...
Wesley finally figured out what Yuna was thinking and his face became gloomy.
Yuna thought that Wesley found her useless. She asked with a lack of confidence, "Brother Wesley, should I try it again?"
Wesley didn't ease in the slightest. Worse, he was even more pissed, as if he were going to kill someone. He grabbed the bag from Yuna who was still in confusion and left without a word.
Yuna touched the tip of her nose, puzzled. Alright, she admitted that she had been a little bit slow, since she couldn't find anything weird in the purse. But, was it necessary for Wesley to be so pissed off?
Wesley threw the purse into the trash bin after he left and went downstairs.
He got in the car and Gavin called. He asked proudly, "Hey, how's that purse working for you? A purse that was air-shipped across the continent from France. Was that purse an irresistible charm to your dearest Yuna? How are you gonna thank me for such a great plan, huh?"
Wesley sneered and replied, "You should be glad that I'm in Glasgow right now."
Stepping on the accelerator, he left quickly, heading to the office.
If he were still in Arlington, not only would the purse be thrown into the trash can, but also Gavin, the bastard who had suggested him to get the purse!
Kai came out from the elevator after Wesley left and was heading to Yuna's office.
In the past three days, he had moved on and accepted the fact that Wesley and Yuna were together. They honestly looked very good together. He should feel happy for them.
In addition to his family, Wesley and Yuna were the most important people in the world. Why would he be unhappy if they were happy?
As for him, he would be happy as well. The time was yet to come.
Kai saw a familiar purse lying in the trash can near Yuna's office.
Gavin dropped the purse in person that morning and said that Wesley had asked people to buy it from abroad as a gift to Yuna. How come it had been thrown into the trash can?
Seeing that it wasn't dirty, Kai picked it up, dusted it off and took it into Yuna's office.
Yuna was still thinking hard about what she had missed. When she looked up, she saw Kai carrying the purse which had just placed her in an awkward position. She asked in surprise, "You found it?"
Kai seemed to be more surprised than Yuna. "Found what?"
"The special design for the purse!" Yuna gritted her teeth and indignantly continued, "I searched for a long time and still couldn't find out how to turn it into a gun!"
"..." Speechless.
Kai finally understood why the bag was lying in the trash can. The great Brother Wesley had sent a woman a gift for the very first time, and the gift was mistaken for a weapon.
"Yuna..." Kai seemed frustrated. "This is a gift that Brother Wesley asked people to buy from France. It's a gift! A woman's purse! No hidden weapons or special design! It can't kill people!"
"A gift... from Wesley?"
It was like complete nonsense to Yuna. She understood every word that Kai said. When they were combined, it sounded so unrealistic.
Kai shook his head. "Poor Brother Wesley. This is the first time he has given a present to a woman!"
"How so?" Yuna was suspicious. "Wesley has dated so many women, and there were a few whom he liked a lot. He never bought them stuff?"
"A check is not a gift, right?" Kai said, "He just signed on the check. He didn't need to put in any effort."
Yuna took it over and fiddled it, feeling dreamy. "Why did he give me this out of the blue?"
Kai thought about it. "Maybe he was trying to make you happy?"
"Make me happy?"
She suddenly recalled that day when Wesley left her place, he asked her if she was upset. She replied casually, "As if you've ever made me happy!"
So, Wesley remembered that? Or did he just want to mess with one of his dates with a purse?
Yuna thought that it was more likely to be the latter. She didn't think that Wesley would remember and respond to something she said spontaneously.
