As soon as the taxi stopped, Yuna rushed into the hospital at the speed of light. She didn't even have time for the change.
The elevator stopped. Just outside, there were a couple of nurses who had gathered in front of her grandma's ward. They were excited and poked their heads into the ward, looking thrilled.
"He's so hot!" The youngest nurse pulled the sleeve of her colleague excitedly. "Do you think he's the boyfriend of Granny Wallace's niece?"
"I have no idea, but I hope not!" Another nurse said, "That way we still have a chance!"
Yuna strode over and said, "Excuse me."
"... Miss Xu." The nurses were stunned for a moment before they came to their senses. Then, they quickly made way for her.
Yuna looked into the ward. Not only Wesley, Kai and Wang Yi were also there.
Wang Yi stood upright in front of her grandmother's bed; his head was wrapped in gauze and he looked sorry.
Rage began to rise from the bottom of Yuna's heart. She turned to the nurses and said, "I you that except for Auntie Sun and I, no other people were allowed to enter my grandmother's ward. Why did you let them in? Are you sure they weren't gonna hurt my granny?"
"Well..." the nurse said with a mellow tone, "Mr. Mu was brought here by our director."
"..." Yuna was speechless.
Yeah, so what if she had already told the nurses? Who had the nerves to stop Wesley in Glasgow?
Yuna stopped making things more difficult for the nurses and walked into the ward.
Wesley immediately noticed Yuna and handed her a document with a natural gesture. "Sign your name."
Yuna looked at it. It was an application for a hospital transfer. Wesley wanted to send her grandmother to a private doctor. The attending doctor had already signed it. The application would be effective as soon as she, the only family member, signed.
She ignored it and returned the application back to Wesley. She walked to grandma's bed and asked, "Grandma, how are you feeling today?"
"I'm much better." Granny Wallace smiled and patted Yuna's hand. "Tell Mr. Mu that I'm fine here, I don't need to go to a private hospital. It's expensive. I can claim my insurance if I stay here."
Yuna arranged her quilt and said, "Okay, I'll tell him."
"Also, I already know the ins and outs of the matter," Granny Wallace added, "It was just the young man's little joke and I am safe and sound, so don't be mad okay? Let it go."
"..." A joke? Let it go?
Yuna was confused for a moment before she sorted out the reason her grandmother had said that. She gritted her teeth and looked at Wesley with a smile. "We will discuss the transferring outside, shall we?"
She didn't stop until she took Wesley to the end of the corridor. Then, she burst out.
"Wesley, who gave you the right to make the decision without consulting me?" Yuna wanted to jump on Wesley and bite his neck hard. "I can let things pass with the transferring, but a joke? You referred to what Samantha asked Wang Yi to do as a joke? What kind of person makes cruel jokes like this?"
"If I didn't tell her it was a joke, how would you explain it to your grandmother?" Wesley asked coldly, "that you're in trouble with people outside?"
"It's my business to explain!" Yuna crazy. "It's none of your business. Get your butt out of it. Understand?"
Wesley's eyes darkened coldly, and the two confronted each other silently.
God knows how long it had been. Wesley said faintly, "If it's Samantha's business, I can't stay out of it."
"... Ha." Yuna's laughter was full of sarcasm. She looked at Wesley in a strange way and said nothing.
As expected, he did it for Samantha.
"He had better protect Samantha for the rest of her life and don't let her see any chances of revenge!"
"Also, your grandmother will be well taken care of and recover faster if you transfer her to a private hospital," Wesley made an announcement as if it were an order, "I have made the call to transfer her to another hospital."
Yuna stared at Wesley coldly. "I don't believe that you're doing this for my grandmother's own good."
Wesley paused for a moment, and his answer did not fail her expectation. "I just want to apologize to her. Even if you don't sign the consent, she will be transferred today for sure."
After that, Wesley turned back to the ward.
Yuna shouted at his back, "Wesley, you are an asshole!"
Wesley ignored her. When Kai came out, he saw Yuna's exasperated look. He went over and gave Yuna a thumbs-up with a smile.
Yuna hit Kai's hand angrily. "What do you mean?"
"Just saying, you're admirable," Kai said, "You should know that, there ain't many people who dare to swear to Brother Wesley in the whole world. They can be counted with my two hands. Even Mr. Yeung and my dad wouldn't dare to curse at Brother Wesley easily."
Yuna pulled up the corner of her mouth and wanted to laugh, but her smile suddenly froze.
She couldn't believe that she actually forgot such an important thing-Wesley had once suspected that Kai was the person undercover. But Kai was his uncle's son.
At that time, Wesley asked her to go to the Hayes Family's old mansion to then investigate whether Kai was a mole sent by Rowdy.
Later, she didn't let Kai become her scapegoat, so the investigation of undercover was finished.
At that time, she took the investigation seriously and looked into Kai's family background, but she didn't find out the relationship between Kai's father and the Hayes Family. Also, Wesley didn't tell her any of that in advance.
That could only explain one thing: The so-called background of Kai that she found was all fake.
Then, she told Wesley the fake information she had found, and Wesley still didn't say anything.
After thinking about it, that was all wrong. Since there was such a deep relationship between the Hayes Family and Kai's family, Wesley shouldn't have suspected Kai at all, let alone ask her to investigate him.
Her intuition indicated that the reason that Wesley had asked her to investigate Kai was not to confirm whether Kai was an undercover or not.
The veil of a cruel truth was gradually uncovered. Yuna's heart beat faster. "Kai, why have I never heard you mention the relationship between your father and Wesley?"
Kai sighed and leaned on the rail next to the window. "Before I followed Brother Wesley, I was quite rebellious, because I was annoyed that my father always said that I wasn't as good as Brother Wesley. You know? My family compared me with Brother Wesley from head to toe. And they came to the conclusion that Brother Wesley was better than me on every single aspect. That's why I didn't like Brother Wesley and I denied my family ties to everyone."
"What happened then?" Yuna asked.
"Then, I got into trouble. It was kind of huge that my father was so angry that he went to the hospital because of it. It was Brother Wesley who helped me handle it. Before that, I wasn't that close with him. But that time, I knew that my father was telling the truth. He is really powerful. He is calm and intimidating when negotiating. He reacts quick and dead on when he works. He had been immersed in the atmosphere of gangsters and dirty businesses, but somehow he released this vibe that suggested that he was a wise man with integrity." At that point, Kai smiled, seemed shy. "After that, I decided to work for him for the rest of my life."
After a pause, Kai continued, "From the very beginning, Brother Wesley took me with him everywhere, with no hard feelings due to my hatred and disdain for him from before at all. Of course, there were criticisms. But maybe it was the influence of Brother Wesley, I didn't deal with those criticisms with violence and certainly, I didn't mention my father at all. I just did my work and convinced them with my strength!"
"After that, those guys called me Brother Kai. Brother Wesley said that he had made a fake identity for me for safety reasons, so that it would be impossible to find out my real background with a little investigation. I listened to him. And over time, I forgot the relationship between my father and the Hayes Family, so I didn't tell you."
Yuna could almost confirm what was going on. She nodded and said, "No wonder Brother Wesley believes in you so much."
Kai smiled and said, "Of course. It seems like I work under him. But in fact, we are brothers." As he said this, he suddenly noticed Yuna's strange expression. He asked curiously, "Yuna, what's wrong?"
"Nothing." Yuna tugged at the corner of her lips. "Kai, you're very lucky."
Kai's smile was even brighter.
Yuna added, "Go back. I need to think about my grandmother's transferring."
After Kai left, Yuna turned around and looked at the small garden of the hospital. The smile on her lips gradually became bitter.
When Wesley asked her to investigate Kai, she felt that something was wrong. She finally knew why.
Judging from the relationship between Kai's father and the Hayes Family, why would Wesley suspect Kai?
It was her that Wesley was suspecting. He was sure that Kai was innocent so he asked her to investigate him. If she took Kai as a scapegoat, he would have been sure that she was the one undercover.
Or perhaps, he had already confirmed that she had been undercover way before?
She had to give it to him, that move was brilliant. She didn't notice a thing.
On the way back to the ward, Yuna kept thinking whether Wesley knew if she was the undercover person.
If he knew, why didn't he do anything?
If he wasn't sure, there were still many things left to be explained. Like before, Wesley would very likely use her to give Rowdy a fake message about his offer, to then kick his ass when he thought that he was winning.
Also, based on Wesley's personality, he never abandoned his people.
But when she was kidnapped by Rowdy, Wesley didn't only ignore her, but he also treated her like an item instead of a human-being. She was devastated.
After thinking about it, the only reasonable explanation was that Wesley had known that Rowdy would not hurt her.
Ha, she always thought she had lied to Wesley, hurting Brian and Joanne in the process. She woke up from nightmares countless times, and her guilt had been piling up day by day.
After figuring that out, she was in fact the one who had been trapped.
"What is his plan?"
That morning, Kai's father suddenly appeared in the Hayes Family estate, letting her know the relationship between Kai and the Hayes Family. Wesley should have known what she would glean from that.
Did it mean that his revenge plan had started?
Wesley couldn't use her to give fake information to Rowdy after that. And according to Wesley's style, she was dead meat.
"Yuna, what's wrong with you?" Grandma suddenly said, interrupting Yuna's thoughts. "Well, I promised to transfer to another hospital. Isn't that enough?"
"Ah?" Yuna was confused, "Grandma, what...?"
"Mr. Mu said that you'll be more assured if I am transferred to a private hospital." Grandma smiled. "You are very tired from work every day. And you will be exhausted if you keep running back and forth to take care of me. I will have personal nurses and a nutritionist in that hospital, so don't be worried."
Yuna glanced at Wesley. Without guessing, she knew that he said something to her grandma. Not saying another word, she took the pen and signed the transfer consent.
In order not to arouse Wesley's suspicion, she would do whatever he said.
She didn't care what Wesley wanted to do to her, but for her grandmother's sake, she had to improvise so that she could stay alive.
