Joanne maintained the calmness on the surface. "Wendy, why don't you get your pajamas changed before you come out?"
Wendy knew they had made a serious mistake and quickly waved her hand. "Cousin, it's not what you think. Last night, Gavin and I..."
"I understand. It... isn't a big deal. Um... it would happen sooner or later." Joanne gestured at Wendy to stop explaining. "Okay, get your clothes changed and have some breakfast."
"Cousin..."
Wendy still wanted to explain, but Joanne already held Brian's hand to leave.
After they arrived at the dining room, Brian asked Joanne, "Do you really feel okay with it?"
The expression on Joanne's face changed from smile to depression. "How is that possible?" Her relaxed reaction was just there trying to cut down the pressure she might put on Wendy.
Brian slowly poured hot milk into the glass and pushed it over to Joanne. "Wendy's reaction was strange. We might have mistaken about them."
"She came out from Gavin's residence in the early morning. It can't be too wrong." Joanne stopped for a minute and looked to Brian to say, "You should find some time to ask Gavin how he thinks about it. If he dares to say he just did it for fun, I won't let him have an easy life."
She had thought they would just have some intimate movements between Gavin and Wendy in that love blooming period, such as touching hands or heads. But to her surprise, Gavin had already done it.
She didn't know whether it was good or bad.
"There's no need to wait." Brian took out the phone and dialed Gavin's number. He turned on the speaker.
The phone was quickly connected. There came Gavin's voice. "Hello?"
Brian was direct. "What's the deal between you and Wendy?"
"... nothing." The tiredness in Gavin's voice was almost hypnotic. He stopped for a minute and continued, "There was nothing between her and me."
Brian frowned. "I just saw her coming out from your cabin. How can you explain that?"
"... oh, you're talking about that." Gavin sighed and said, "It was my karma. Last night, I made up a story to scare her, but she was really terrified and asked to sleep in my place, which would help her feel less scared. But, she slept in bed and I slept on the floor. Nothing happened between us! Besides, I wouldn't dare to do anything to a girl like her..."
Brian hung up and gave Joanne an eye.
Joanne took a bite on the brim of the cup. "It was really just like that?"
"Gavin is not a coward. In fact, it might be the truth." The waiter served the breakfast the minute Brian finished those words. He pushed a serving to Joanne. "You should have breakfast first. If you're still worried, you can talk to Wendy later."
Joanne thought for a minute and nodded. "Okay."
Then she picked up the chopsticks and was about to eat when she glanced at a familiar figure by the door of the diner.
She subconsciously took a look and was surprised. "Wendy? You..."
She found that Wendy's expression was a bit strange. She wanted to ask about it. But before she could say anything, Wendy turned around and ran away.
It was clear who Wendy was going to find.
Joanne coughed and looked at Brian with worries. "Wendy must have heard it. Do you have to call Gavin as a reminder?"
She guessed right. Wendy did go to find Gavin.
Wendy had wanted to go to the dining room to explain things to Joanne in case the mistake would get worse. But she hadn't expected that Gavin would say something like that.
She had never been fooled like that before in her entire life!
The dining room was not far from Gavin's cabin, so it didn't take Wendy long to get there. She kicked the door open and found Gavin still in bed and covered by the quilt.
Wendy walked over, got to the bed and removed Gavin's quilt. Then she punched right to his chest. "Bastard!"
Gavin was first woken up by the phone then by Wendy's actions. He was annoyed enough. But when he saw Wendy's eyes; he found she was more annoyed than he was.
He was confused and looked at Wendy with dazed eyes. "My god! What's wrong with you?"
"How dare you ask me?" Wendy bit her teeth hard. "Was it interesting to make up a story to trick me?"
"...You found out?" Gavin was a little surprised and obediently sat up. He signaled Wendy to cool down. "I admit it was my fault. But I didn't plan to trick you with the story all the time."
Wendy coldly smiled. "Huh, so you planned to make up a more horrifying story today, right?"
"I'm not a playwright who is capable of making up stories every day, OK?" Gavin didn't want to continue and said directly, "I planned to tell you the truth today. But now that you know, I don't have to make the effort."
"..." Wendy stared, not believing Gavin would give up like that.
"Damn it! Can't he tell I'm here to quarrel with him?!"
Gavin pushed Wendy away. "Don't stay in my bed. You've messed up my sleep. The floor is too hard for me to sleep well. If you don't plan to sleep with me, get out. Let me finish my sleep."
Wendy carefully looked at Gavin who did seem very tired.
But, it was none of her business!
Wendy ignored the softness and care in her heart and punched Gavin again. "Don't pretend to be dead. Get up! I haven't forgiven you!"
The night before, when the light went out, her heart almost burst out. But Gavin didn't even apologize and wanted to finish the event so easily?
She wouldn't agree!
Gavin didn't see himself as an irascible man, but the premise was that others didn't touch his bottom line.
And one of his bottom lines was disturbing his sleep.
Wendy was stepping on his bottom line, harder and harder.
Gavin frowned, and then broke out-
He threw away the quilt and caught Wendy's shoulders. Then he pressed her to the bed and looked at her from above. "Wendy, I warned you to get out if you don't want to sleep with me. Now that you didn't leave..."
The meaning of his words was clear enough. And that was the first time in Wendy's life she had been treated with such disrespect.
The brain told Wendy that she should slap Gavin in the face and kick him to lie on the floor.
However, when pressed by Gavin so closely, she could see each of his eyelashes, which were not long but very dense and good-looking. And his clean skin without a pore. He was the perfect version of how a man should be. Besides, there was his straight nose and two attractive lips below the nose.
She had to admit Gavin was more charming than he had been in his imagination.
Her sanity was cracked by his handsomeness. Wendy totally forgot to fight back. She just stared at Gavin while in a blank.
Gavin had just intended to scare her but she ended becoming muddled.
But the stunned Wendy looked incredibly cute.
She stared at him with confusion and blankness, like a small pet who had lost its way. She looked easy to be bullied, which aroused others' sympathy and evil minds at the same time.
Her lips were slightly opened as if she wanted to say something. But she was too stupefied to say a word. She was completely defenseless.
Gavin suddenly realized he wanted to tease Wendy. Or maybe... really kiss her?
Before he put the thought into practice, Gavin suddenly realized something-
"What am I thinking? Wendy is different from the girls I've dated before!"
Before the embarrassing atmosphere spread further, Gavin let Wendy go and intentionally asked in a serious tone, "Are you scared?"
After a while, Wendy realized his blunt meaning and gave him an eye filled with despise. "You think too highly of yourself. I'm not so innocent!" She meant it wasn't that easy to scare her.
"Oh?" Gavin was seriously joking with her. "What have you met before? Tell me, if you successfully scare me, I'll give you a prize."
At the same time, he tried to erase the jealous feeling in his heart and told himself to keep calm-Wendy was just a little girl. What could she have seen before?
"I have..." As Wendy tried to say something, she remembered she hadn't had a boyfriend before and didn't know too much about the sexual part of a relationship.
But she couldn't let him find her lying!
Wendy changed the topic and pretended to be disdainful. "What I have seen has nothing to do with you! Why do I have to tell you? Fuck off! Or I'll call my cousin!"
It was useful to scare Gavin, which was to say, Gavin was scared of Brian.
He lay back while upset. "I'll let you go, but you have to get out too. Otherwise, it will be of no use even if you call your cousin."
"Scare me?" Wendy coldly hummed. "Let me tell you, this is not the end of your lying to me!" She was not afraid. They were both rogues, no one was more dignified!
Before she got down from the bed, Wendy kicked Gavin again and slipped away.
After being harassed by her, Gavin didn't want to sleep anymore. He lay in bed and saw her figure farther and farther and finally disappear from his sight. He smiled.
Not knowing why, he just felt happy. He even thought if Wendy played with him for the rest of his life, he probably... wouldn't mind.
Gavin was scared by that thought.
He realized Wendy was different from the girls he had been with. But he was also using a different way to get along with her.
Maybe... he liked that girl?
Although Gavin was younger than Brian and Wesley, he wasnt that impulsive and reckless boy anymore. He was very prudent with affections at the moment.
He didn't want little girls with beautiful faces and good physiques. He wanted someone he could spend the rest of his life with.
Could that person, be Wendy?
