Joanne finished the breakfast and was about to leave with Brian when she saw Wendy rushing in angrily and patting on the table. "Excuse me, waiter! I want a breakfast for two people!"
The waiter saw Wendy's action and moved quicker. He served Wendy two breakfasts in less than two minutes.
Joanne saw the scene. She admired Wendy's politeness when she was so angry. But on the other hand, she carefully asked, "Wendy, did you order the other breakfast for Gavin?"
Wendy became furious right away and fiercely tore the bread apart. "I only want to comfort my heart which was scared yesterday! Gavin? He'd better be starved to death! Why would I get a breakfast for him?"
"..." Joanne realized that Wendy was about to explode so she pulled Brian to leave without saying anything.
They had been on the island for a few days. Brian didn't accompany them for too long because he had to deal with matters of the company. That day was the weekend; he could finally give himself to Joanne for an entire day. He asked her, "Where do you want to go?"
"I don't want to think about it." After the pregnancy, Joanne was too lazy to find excuses for herself. She said, "You should think about it."
Brian smiled. "When will Freya arrive?"
That morning, Freya sent Joanne a message, which included her flight information. Joanne took it out to have a look. "At about one o'clock p.m."
"Just in time," Brian said, "There is a small town on the island which will win your favor. We should hang out there. Then we can pick up Freya by noon."
"Okay." Joanne held Brian's arm. "I will follow my husband's proposal!"
Brian took Joanne to the motor boat. But that time, there was no pilot in it.
Joanne looked at the usual piloting space with doubts and confusion. "Can it work automatically?"
"That kind of motor boat has been invented yet." Brian stopped for a second and raised his eyebrows. "Haven't I told you that I can pilot it?"
"..." Joanne shook her head in disbelief.
She knew Brian was capable of doing many things, but steering a motor boat wasn't one of them. So she asked curiously, "How do you manage to do it?"
"Sit still." Brian held Joanne and helped her to sit down. "You will see it soon."
Joanne sat down, full of expectation. Her chin was supported by her arm and her eyes were fixed firmly on Brian. In those eyes was endless uncovered affection.
She didn't know about the design of a motor boat. She just saw Brian skillfully make some moves and the motor boat left the shore, obediently heading to the other end.
The morning breeze was fresh and the sea was calm. Every once in a while, there were white seagulls flying by the sea. Everything seemed peaceful and blessed.
Joanne saw that Brian didn't have to operate the boat anymore and leaned on him. Then she wondered, "Don't tell me that you can even navigate a plane."
Brian looked at Joanne's stomach, then said, "I can show you after half a year."
He really could!
"Shocked" wasn't enough to describe Joanne's mood at the moment. She stared at Brian in a blank and started to talk after quite a while later, "Are you capable of anything else that I don't know?"
Brian thought for a minute and frowned. "I'm afraid you don't have the patience."
Joanne was speechless. "Then don't tell me." She waited for a moment and curled her lips. "Anyway, we still have more than half of a lifetime to spend."
More than half of a lifetime was long enough for her to witness Brian's different kinds of cool skills.
Brian smiled and sped up. After forty minutes, the motor boat pulled in to shore and there was a black Land Rover waiting for them there.
After Joanne's pregnancy became obvious, Brian stopped driving a car altogether. The reason was that Land Rovers were more spacious and more comfortable for Joanne to sit in.
There was a disadvantage along with the advantages. The Land Rover had a high chassis, which made it difficult for Joanne to get in and get out when her belly was getting bigger.
But that was not a problem for Brian-he personally carried Joanne in and out.
After quite a while, Joanne was still not used to being taken care of like that, especially when the fishermen looked at them. They had no evil intentions, but the smile on their faces made her uncomfortable.
Maybe they couldn't understand that kind of intimacy.
Brian fastened the safety belt for Joanne and noticed her shy expression. He felt pretty good about it and kissed her lips.
Joanne's face became red all of a sudden and took a look at the fishermen. As she expected, they smiled more happily. And she could only stared at Brian.
"They don't know us." Brian gave Joanne an eye to make her feel relaxed and closed the door for her.
It was a ten-minute drive from the beach to the town.
The small town was a quaint and well-known place of interest there. But it didn't attract any developers because it wasn't hot on the Internet. The town kept its primary appearance and natural style, which Brian knew would win Joanne's favor.
Joanne didn't let Brian down. She looked surprised the minute she got out of the car. She held Brian's sleeve to ask, "How did you find this spot?"
"When I was developing the island," Brian said, "After the island was opened to the tourists, the town would be full of tourists too. That is also the reason why we could develop the island smoothly."
It sounded like the island and the town were reciprocal. Joanne suddenly thought that everything was alright.
In fact, there were still many latent dangers in their lives.
There was a cafeteria downtown which was at operating. It was in an old decorated house, which made it look very old-school. Joanne pulled Brian's clothes. "Let's get in to have a rest."
"Okay." Brian took Joanne's hand. But after a few steps, the smile by his lips was frozen.
Joanne didn't neglect that small reaction. She asked in a low voice, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." Brian smiled as if nothing was wrong. He took Joanne into the cafeteria and took out a stack of cash. "Hi, I'd like to book the whole place."
Joanne didn't plan to sit for too long so there was no need to clear the place. But she didn't stop Brian-she had guessed that something was going on.
As expected, the boss took over the money and someone pushed the door from outside. Almost at the same time, Brian used his body to firmly cover Joanne and calmly looked at the boss. "I don't want anyone to disturb my wife and me."
"I understand." The boss smiled. He walked out and said to the few people who wanted to get in. "Sorry, please don't come in. The whole place has been booked."
Joanne hid in Brian's arms. She lifted her head and looked at him anxiously. "Who is it?"
"They must be Rowdy's men." Brian protected Joanne. "Don't worry. They won't dare to do anything."
Joanne was not afraid since Brian was there. She nodded and followed Brian to the seats.
That time, Brian didn't choose the seats with a good view. Instead, he chose private and safe seats. Though Joanne sat on the couch, her body was still firmly blocked by Brian because of the angle.
Brian used one hand to hold Joanne's and the other hand dialed Gavin's number. He asked soberly, "We're in the Milu Cafeteria on the center of Qinghe Street. Call up some people to take care of Rowdy's men."
Joanne subconsciously held Brian's hand tightly.
"Don't be scared." Brian's voice contained a comforting strength. "Our people are not far from here."
"I'm not scared of that." Joanne bit her lips. "Over the past few months, Rowdy hasn't done anything. Why is he following us now?"
There was a short sign of coldness in Brian's eyes which disappeared quickly. Joanne didn't notice it. She had no way to notice it.
He just slightly smiled. "Maybe... he can't do anything to us, so he just wants to know what we are doing?"
The fact, of course, wasn't that simple.
But Brian couldn't tell Joanne that her worries were right. Rowdy's sudden action meant... he would make large movements soon.
However, Rowdy's capabilities were limited in a short period of time. He could only deal with one person, while confronted by Brian and Wesley.
As for whether Rowdy was aiming at him or at Wesley, it was difficult to say. So there was no need to say it out to scare Joanne.
Joanne thought it wasn't as easy as Brian said. But she couldn't figure it out. So she had to choose to believe in what Brian said. "That's why I said he was a sociopath."
"Even if he really wants to do something, I won't let him hurt you." Brian tightly covered Joanne's hand in his palm. "Joanne, don't be afraid."
Joanne smiled, "As long as you're here, I'm not afraid at all. But I have a bad feeling."
Brian lifted his eyebrows in doubt. "Um?"
"I can't say it directly." Joanne lifted her chin distressfully. "I always feel something about to happen, either to us or Yuna and Wendy."
Brian kept quiet for a while and said seriously, "It already happened. This morning, Wendy walked out from Gavin's room."
Joanne tried to resist but failed. She laughed out loud and the anxiety gradually faded from her heart.
Even if her feeling was right, she didn't have to worry once Brian was there.
At the time, the boss took a cup of coffee and a cup of milk tea over, placing them in front of Joanne and Brian. Then he said, "Sir, those people have left.
The boss just finished speaking when someone else pushed the door. He asked instantly, "These two men..."
"They are my friends." Brian said, "Let them in."
The man and the woman were those protecting Joanne recently. The minute they went in, they wanted to ask about the conditions. But Brian lifted his hand and said, "There's nothing right now."
The girl nodded assuredly. "Mr. Lambert, we should follow you and your wife. Brother Gavin just investigated. There seemed to be quite a few people here in the town belonging to Rowdy."
Brian didn't oppose. He rested for a moment and stretched his hand to Joanne. "It's time to leave."
Joanne wasn't afraid either. She gave her hand to Brian. "Where will we go next?"
Brian smiled. "To a place where no one can track us down."
