Chapter 487 I'm Not Suitable for Her

Wendy went back home. She threw the bag on the couch and ran to the balcony before she could change her shoes.

Looking down, Gavin's giant Land Rover was still parked in front of the apartment.

Um? Was there something wrong with his car or...

The second possibility scared Wendy, just like she didn't dare to imagine the possibility between Gavin and her.

To be specific, she just thought that a man who had seen so many beautiful girls like Gavin wouldn't be interested in her.

Being the case, it would be best to remain as friends. When speaking of the relationship between a man and a woman, it would be awkward later on if they didn't turn out to be a good match.

While she was deep in thought, Gavin's car moved. The car headlights were turned on and cut through the darkness; the vehicle was soon out of Wendy's sight.

Wendy took a long breath.

It was good that she couldn't see Gavin. She could stop the fantasy over those impossible things.

The second day, at Lambert Group.

Gavin carried a report into the CEO's office and placed it on Brian's desk. "Rowdy made a move."

Brian went through the report and calmly put it down. "Rowdy wants to bid on the land in the south against us?"

"Um-huh." Gavin knocked on the desk. "Rowdy has been the CEO of the Scott Group for a long time and has done many movements. But this time he aims at us, right after Yuna returned to his side. Do you think it's just a coincidence?"

"He just wants to make use of Yuna." Brian said, "Don't forget that Yuna graduated from a business academy, plus she is his best spy. He has a greater chance to succeed with her help."

So, Yuna was a problem to them.

Gavin was upset. "What is wrong with Wesley? "He likes Yuna, why would he send her back so she could help Rowdy? "He should just say it directly to Yuna. He can even force her to stay if she wasn't willing. Isn't it easy for him to lock a person up?"

"Why don't you ask this question yourself?" Brian suddenly aimed at Gavin, "You have feelings for Wendy. Everyone can see it except her. Why didn't you say something to her?"

Being struck at his weakness, Gavin became instantly weak. After quite a while, he rubbed the temple and said, "Wendy and I are not suitable for each other."

Brian asked, "Isn't Wendy the type you like?"

"I like her. It has nothing to do with her type." Then, Gavin was suddenly lost in silence. He continued after quite a while, "I'm not suitable for her."

He used the causal tone to cover the heaviness in his heart.

Brian looked at Gavin and smiled.

The thoughts Gavin had right now were basically the same ones he had when he was watching Joanne from afar several years before.

Everyone had a different face in this world but the feelings one had when falling in love were almost the same-you would constantly look at yourself up and down, thinking that you were the only one who could take care of her. But later on, you had a deep seated feeling of being unsuitable for her.

"It's up to Wendy whether you are suitable for her." Brian tried to persuade him, "Don't hide your emotions too deeply. Otherwise, you'll be the one regretting in the future."

"Oh?" Gavin asked intentionally, "Is it a suggestion... from someone who has experienced all this?"

"Take it or leave it. It's your choice." Then, Brian gave Gavin the car key.

Gavin was confused. "What are you doing? "Are you forcing me to confess my love to Wendy right now?"

"I'm giving you a chance to make a good impression on your future mother-in-law." Brian said, "Joanne's aunt will arrive in Arlington at 8 tonight by plane. You should pick her up."

Gavin was upset. "Shouldn't it be your job? "Why are you asking me to do it again?"

"Because I have to keep my wife company at home."

A normal sentence sounded particularly reasonable from Brian's mouth. It was as if nothing was more important than accompanying his wife. Gavin had no way to deny it. He could only take the car key and go.

It was already six thirty in the evening when Gavin left the company after work. He dialed Wendy's number and said the minute the call was connected, "It's time for us to pick up your mother at the airport. Where are you?"

Wendy had just finished a surgery and was almost out of breath. She thought she might have been delusional, so she took a good look at the name on the screen. It was indeed Gavin!

She impatiently asked, "Why you are the one picking my mother up with me?"

"I don't know, either." Gavin shrugged, "I am just fulfilling the task my boss just gave me. If you have an opinion towards it, you can tell it to your cousin-in-law."

Wendy took a look at the time, "Forget it. There's not much time left. Can you pick me up at the hospital?"

"Of course!" Then, Gavin hung up the phone and quickly started the car.

It was still the rush hour after work. So even the Land Rover which had great functions couldn't run fast on a busy road. Gavin's car moved with great difficulty and finally arrived at the hospital fifteen minutes later.

Wendy was already waiting. Once seeing Gavin's car, she rushed over immediately. "Get on the highway!"

Even Brian had rarely spoken to Gavin in that commanding tone. Gavin uttered a "Ze" to express his unsatisfaction. When he was about to say something, Wendy opened her mouth first-

Wendy threatened, "I will complain to my cousin-in-law if you fail to take me to the airport before eight!"

"..." Her threat was powerful and Gavin was soon speechless after hearing those words.

Luckily, it was much less crowded after they got on the highway. Gavin drove fast and reached the airport with Wendy at eight sharp.

Wendy took a look at the flight information. Her mother's flight had landed. She subconsciously ran to the exit.

Gavin quickly caught Wendy, "Where are you going?"

Wendy pointed at the port, "My mother is coming out!"

"Even if she is about to exit, she won't be in that direction. Follow me!" Gavin firmly pulled Wendy to the opposite direction.

Wendy didn't know what Gavin was doing and struggled along the way. "Gavin, do you have no sense of direction? "The exit port is not that way!"

Gavin turned around to stare at Wendy. At the same time, he held her tighter, "If you keep moving, I'll carry you on my shoulder!"

Wendy wasn't so easily scared. She expressed her scorn, "Do you think I wouldn't call the police?"

"I really think you wouldn't." Gavin hummed, "They would possibly think we're just a quarreling couple. "Well, if some girl calls the police to catch you because she is jealous of us holding hands, I would surely believe it."

Wendy searched all the Chinese vocabulary inside her brain and could only find one word suitable to describe Gavin right then-annoying!

She gave Gavin a look filled with contempt. "Did your face get crushed yesterday?"

When she just finished speaking, she noticed Gavin's footsteps freeze. She looked in the direction of his eyesight and saw a VIP room.

All of a sudden, Wendy understood something. "My mom is in the VIP room?"

Gavin didn't react. "We'll know after we open the door."

Wendy walked up with doubt and pushed the door open-

The room behind the door had a cream-colored couch and table set. The elegant woman who was sitting on the couch and drinking tea was precisely her mother.

"Mom!" Wendy ran in and got into Dolly Stewart's arms. "I've missed you and dad so much."

Although she had quarreled with her mother over her major and it lasted for so many years, they still had a close connection. After such a long time away from her home, it would be a lie if she said she didn't miss her parents.

"I missed you too." Dolly patted on Wendy's back. "I've discussed with your father. You can be a doctor if you like. No matter how the current medical environment is, I will support you as long as you're happy."

When choosing a major, Wendy lied to her parents and changed her major from business academy to medical science. By then, she and her mother had a big fight.

So many years later, it was still like a barrier that existed between them. Although it was invisible, it made them less intimate.

Wendy had originally thought she had to spend more time in making her mother accept her major. But it had been solved just like that?

"Mom," Wendy asked surprisedly, "What did dad tell you about it?"

"In all these years, your dad has told me everything he ought to." Dolly smiled frankly. "In fact, I thought it through by myself-You are an adult now and you have the right to decide your future. "Even if you made the wrong choice, it doesn't matter. You can go back home and start over. We have the chance to support you. "After having this thought, I think your happiness is the only thing that matters. As for the rest... I don't care."

Wendy was relieved. She hugged Dolly, "Thank you, mom. "Well, you sounded hesitant about something. Did you intend to say this?"

Dolly had taken good care of her skin. So even if there were small wrinkles by her eyes, they simply seemed carved by time. It did not affect her beauty. Instead, she looked more profound and elegant.

When she was quiet, Dolly looked dignified and graceful, seemingly calm in any situation.

But after hearing Wendy's last sentence, her face became dark. She said after quite a while, "That's a completely different matter. I'll tell you about it after your cousin's wedding."

Since a young age, Wendy held no secrets from her parents. So she was actually extremely curious when Dolly spoke so mysteriously. But her good manners kept her from asking further. She just said, "Okay, let's go."

The minute they walked out of the VIP room, they saw Gavin. Wendy then remembered to introduce him. She casually pointed at Gavin, "Mum, this is a friend of my cousin-in-law. He asked him to pick you up."

Gavin smiled, "Hello, auntie. "My name is Gavin. I'm actually Mr. Brian's assistant."

Dolly was strict with Wendy. And Wendy's way of introducing Gavin had obviously been impolite.

But then, Dolly had no time to think about that. Her eyes froze on Gavin's familiar face; shock emerged in her eyes...
