Chapter 488 Did He Harass You?

Dolly stared at Gavin and had no reaction for quite a while.

This was the first time that Wendy had seen her mother behave so abnormally. She couldn't help touching her mother's arm. "Mom?"

Dolly seemed to come back to herself then. She smiled to Gavin and said, "Son..."

By the time that intimate and kind word went out, Dolly was in a blank for a moment. Wendy and Gavin were stunned by her reaction.

Gavin had never been called that way when he was a child. He had been called "son" in English randomly, but it was to emphasize that he was just a child rather than to express intimacy.

This "son" from Dolly's mouth softly blew by his heart like a breeze and reminded him of the mother whom he had never met.

In this world, only a mother would call her child this way.

"Mom." Wendy strangely looked at her mother. "What's wrong with you?"

Dolly finally realized what she had done and smiled awkwardly. "Look at me, I was being ridiculous. Seeing that Gavin is about the same age as you and thought..." While saying, her tone became apologetic. "Gavin, sorry, I was too..."

"It doesn't matter. If I'm still a child in your eyes, I may still look young." Gavin easily solved this embarrassment. "Auntie, I shall take you to the hotel first." He took the luggage from Dolly's hand and walked at the front.

"Mom, let's go." Wendy held Dolly's arm but found that her attention was still directed at Gavin.

She thought it was unbelievable. Was Gavin's face that glamorous?!

Out of the airport, Gavin firstly placed the luggage into the trunk. Then he ran over to open the door for Dolly. At last, he went to the driver's seat.

Dolly asked just after the car set out, "Gavin, can I ask you a few questions?"

Gavin glanced at the back seats from the mirror. "Auntie, you can ask anything you want. I'll answer as long as I am able to."

"I am just worried that it may be inconvenient." Dolly stopped for a minute and asked, "Auntie wants to ask you where you are from. "And how old you are."

Wendy felt the strangeness of her mother's questions and frowned. "Mom, why are you asking these?"

Dolly looked quite natural. "I just wanted to."

Wendy,"..."

"It doesn't matter." Gavin answered formally, "If I'm not mistaken, I should be 28 this year and I'm an American."

Dolly felt as if she had been stricken. She kept on asking, "I thought you were from Arlington. Why are you an American?"

"Mom, stop asking." Before Gavin could answer, Wendy uttered, "Couldn't he have immigrated just like you and dad?!

Several days before, Joanne had just told Wendy that Gavin was an orphan and that he had been brought up in an orphanage in America. So his nationality was American.

In fact, Gavin might not even know where he was from, either. So Wendy didn't want Gavin to answer this question.

However, Gavin didn't seem to care about it. He answered casually, "Auntie, I grew up in America."

"Oh." Dolly nodded. "I see." Then she stopped talking and seemed to be lost in deep thought.

Wendy felt it was even stranger but she didn't dare to ask in front of Gavin.

An hour later, the Land Rover stopped in front of the Century Hotel, a Lambert Group' subsidiary. Gavin gave Dolly's luggage to the hotel attendant and then passed the door card to Dolly. "Auntie, the hotel was arranged by Mr. Brian. You can call me if you need anything; I'd be glad to help in negotiating with the hotel."

"Okay." Dolly asked, "Can I have a card of yours?"

Gavin didn't expect Dolly to be so bold. He took out a card from the exquisite card holder and presented Dolly with it. "My phone number is there."

Dolly carefully put the card in her purse and didn't seem to want Gavin to leave. She warmly looked at him. "You haven't had dinner right? "Maybe you eat something with us at the hotel?"

"Thank you. I've already eaten." Gavin took a look at the watch and said, "Auntie, there's something I have to take care of at the company. I'll be taking my leave."

Although Dolly was disappointed, she didn't show it. She just nodded. "Thank you for picking me up at the airport. I will treat you to a meal someday and you'll have to agree."

Gavin didn't take it seriously. He just nodded and turned to leave.

Only Wendy noticed that Dolly's eyes were still on Gavin's figure.

After Gavin's car was completely gone from their view, Wendy lifted her hand and shook it in front of her mother's eyes. "Mom, he has already left!"

Dolly came back to herself then. She stared at Wendy for a moment and said, "Let's get in."

"Wait a minute!" Wendy stopped Dolly and stared at her eyes confusedly. "Why do you care so much about Gavin? "Why did you even ask about his birth place and age?"

Dolly had been in the business field when she was young and had been through many difficulties. So Wendy's question was easy for her to handle.

"I just think he's a good man, a perfect candidate to be my son-in-law," said Dolly and smiled, "Don't you think so?"

Wendy's face suddenly flushed and gibbered, "Who... what a thing to say! "Mom, don't get cheated by his appearance. He is not a good guy. Although he looks handsome and decent on the outside, he is actually a monster!"

Dolly sharply got the point. "Did he do anything to you?"

"..." Wendy was totally speechless. She helplessly slumped her shoulders, "Mom, what are you talking about!"

"Okay, we should get in now." Dolly didn't continue this topic. "You should stay in the hotel tonight. I have a lot to talk with you."

Wendy held Dolly's hand and leaned her head against her mother's shoulder. "Fine!"

That night, Dolly talked a lot with Wendy. But she didn't tell her the most important thing.

It was because it wasn't the right moment.

Wendy left the hotel in the early morning and went to the hospital the next day. Before she left, she told Dolly to have a good rest at the hotel and that she would see her to have dinner together.

Dolly said yes to Wendy's words but she got changed after Wendy went out. She found a private detective who was well-known but also charged highly; she called him and asked to meet him at a cafeteria.

The minute they sat down, Dolly said directly, "Mr. Zhou, I need your help to get someone's information."

"No problem." Mr. Zhou replied, "We're the best in investigating a person's background and information."

"Let me finish first." Dolly took a sip of the coffee, "I want his information starting from his early childhood, including the place he was born and raised, the schools he attended, important events in his life, blood type and birthday. All of these."

"It's still well within our means." Mr. Zhou asked curiously, "But, who do you want me to look into?"

"The president's personal assistant in Lambert Group, Gavin." Dolly showed him a photo of Gavin in her phone, which she had found on the Internet. "This is him."

Mr. Zhou touched his glasses. "Gavin, he is as famous as Brian and Chris in Arlington. I definitely know him. "But he is Brian's friend. His detailed information... may not be easy to get."

"It is said on the Internet that you are the greatest private detective in Arlington. I think it won't be a problem for you no matter how difficult it is." Dolly took out a check from her purse. "This is the deposit. "You can get as much as you want when you give me his information, as long as it's reasonable."

"Okay. It will be unreasonable for me to go against money." Mr. Zhou took the check and stood up. "Mrs. Su, I'll give you an answer as soon as I can."

"Thank you." Dolly saw Mr. Zhou off. Then, her eyes froze on Gavin's photo.

They looked so alike.

She was shocked the first time she saw Gavin.

However, there were so many people who looked alike in the world, so she wasn't sure whether Gavin was the person she had been looking for without sound evidence.

If he was the one, so many years of her searching helplessly would have been a joke. She just bumped into him. Just like that, effortlessly.

Dolly stood up to leave the cafeteria. The outside was crowded with cars and people. The city was like a machine and everyone ran busily inside of it.

Only Gavin was still sleeping.

In the past, he would have already gone to work. But he was still in bed at the moment. If the hasty ring didn't come, he might not have awakened yet.

After connecting the call, he heard Daisy's worried voice, "Special Assistant Gavin, what's wrong with you today? "It's way past the check-in hour, but you're neither at home nor at the company. What's the matter?"

Gavin took a look at the clock. It was almost ten. Then he checked his phone. There were tons of unreceived calls on the screen.

But he never sensed them.

Usually, he woke up the minute the alarm clock rang. But he didn't hear the alarm clock that morning, not to mention the calls.

When carefully thinking about it, the time after he fell asleep seemed to be a blank, as if he hadn't felt the time.

To be more specific, he seemed to have slept like the dead during those hours. He couldn't feel a thing and he couldn't explain why.

Gavin patted his head. "I overslept. "Please help me with the matters at work first. I will get to the company as soon as I can."

Then he hung up the phone and quickly got out of bed. When his feet were about to land on the floor, the room turned completely dark in front of his eyes. He quickly caught the end of the bed and thus avoided falling.

Suddenly, Gavin realized that he didn't oversleep during those hours. He... had passed out.

But why did he pass out without a reason?

Then he felt a dizziness. Gavin had a bad feeling.

It was said that man's body was like a machine and needed proper work and rest. But he always overused his body in the past few years.

So here came the karma?

Gavin felt ridiculous about having that thought. He was always energetic. How could he just fall ill so quickly and easily?

Maybe it was a simple discomfort.

Gavin told himself that there was no need to be serious about it. Besides, Rowdy had already begun to act. How could he have the time to care about his health?
