Chapter 491 "Doctor, My Brain Is Sick"

After Gavin left, Brian walked back to the room from the study. Joanne just completed the prenatal education at the same time.

Seeing Brian walking in, Joanne set the prenatal education instrument aside and asked in puzzlement, "Why was Gavin here so late in the evening?"

"We're going to bid for a piece of land north of the city so he came to discuss the bidding plan with me." As he spoke, he laid down next to Joanne and encircled with his arms from the back. "Joanne, I want to ask you a question. I want an answer based on intuition."

It had been a long time for Brian to talk to Joanne in such a serious tone. It made her anxious and curious. She blinked and asked, "What's the question?"

He hesitated for a while before he opened his mouth. "If the reason for Yuna to go back with Rowdy was not to act against us, but as a move to work in our favor, what would you think?"

She shook her head almost subconsciously. "I'd rather think she's against us."

He wasn't surprised by her answer but he still asked, "Why?"

"If she went back to help us, it means that she has become a mole for Wesley. "Rowdy is prone to suspicion and it won't take long before he finds out. "Once he finds out, he will give her a hard time." She rolled over to face him and continued, "I'd rather she takes us as enemies. At least, she won't be in danger."

He already had a pretty good idea of how things stood. He then naturally continued with the next question, Do you think she's not in danger? "Let me remind you that the least thing Wesley can tolerate is lying. She lied to him for one whole year."

She sneered and said with certainty, "He wouldn't kill her!"

It aroused his interest so he smiled. "Why are you so sure?"

She cast a glance at him. Instead of answering his question, she saw through him. "Don't try to change the subject! "Did you find something? Why are you asking me such a weird question?" She sounded particularly confident.

He felt a headache. People always said that pregnant women had a "baby brains" effect but it definitely wasn't the case with Joanne.

He beat around the bush and planted a soft kiss on her forehead. "I'll tell you why tomorrow, after Gavin comes back from the bidding."

She didn't understand. "What does it have to do with the land bidding in the north of the city?"

"Rowdy will compete with us for the land." He continued, "If I guessed right, he will make her attend the auction as the representative of the Scott Group."

Joanne didn't completely understand and she lowered her eyes. He didn't know what she was thinking so he pushed the long-scattering hair beside her cheeks aside. "It's late. Go to sleep first."

She realized that it wouldn't help no matter how hard she racked her brains. She nodded and closed her eyes.

The next day, Gavin arrived with the auction plan and had breakfast with them.

After the breakfast, Wendy arrived with Dolly.

Dolly went to study abroad when she was a teenager. She broke off all relations with Steven because of something that happened after that. She hadn't gone back home since then.

Therefore, she had only met Chris before she went abroad. It would be her first time meeting Joanne who was six years younger than Chris.

But thanks to Chris, she didn't feel strange with Joanne, her niece. She brought some practical and convenient baby products from abroad. She introduced them one by one to Joanne as patiently as a mother. Joanne was listening intensely. Brian and Wendy stayed with them, getting a word in occasionally.

Although Gavin had gotten used to seeing the warm and enjoyable scene of a family gathering, maybe because it was too warm and lovely so he felt jealous. He blurted out, "I'm leaving now."

Wendy looked at Gavin subconsciously. "Where are you going?"

"Auction conference." Gavin waved the car key in his hand leisurely. He asked half-jokingly and half seriously, "Are you interested in going?"

"Wendy, go with him." Joanne made use of this opportunity and said, "Don't waste your day off at home."

Wendy looked to Dolly for her opinion. Dolly was strict with her and forbade her from falling in love even in an open Americabroad. Joanne's intention to play the matchmaker for her and Gavin was obvious. Would her mother agree?

To her surprise, Dolly passed her an approval look. "Go ahead. It's not bad for young people to see the world and get some knowledge."

A crooked smile climbed onto Gavin's lips. He looked at Wendy as if a hunter were looking at a caught prey. "Let's go, since your mother said so."

Wendy was pushed out.

She followed Gavin. It took a long while before she realized that-what if Joanne had noticed that she liked Gavin? It made her feel upset.

If she had... how about Gavin? Did he know too?

The more she thought about that, the more depressed she felt.

The first impression told her that Gavin wouldn't be interested in girls like her. His willingness to help her and take her out to have fun was for the sake of her cousin and her cousin's husband.

If he knew that she liked him, she thought it might be troublesome for him. Because he couldn't just simply reject her to her face. But it would be hard for him to accept her.

She liked him but she didn't want to bring any trouble for him, because she thought it was her own business, not his.

Noticing Wendy didn't follow up, Gavin turned around and found her walking slowly behind, lost in her thoughts.

He stopped. When she walked closer, he studied the look on her face but found nothing particular so he had to ask, "What's wrong?"

She looked up and shook her head. "Nothing's wrong."

Although he was confused, he didn't ask further. He raised his chin at the car. "Get in the car."

On the way, she tried to avoid all eye contact with him.

Her career major was cardiac surgery so she had always paid particular attention to the heart, the organ to maintain a human's life. Almost since the moment when she went into the car, she found her heartbeat began to accelerate in that small space.

It wasn't her first time to see him, why did she still feel so nervous?

She once read in a book that a mouth could lie, the body language could lie but the eyes couldn't. If she made eye contact with him, would he see through all her secrets?

She would be deeply humiliated if she was seen through by him!

"Hey, Young Miss, you're weird today." He shot a glance at her and pretended to act casual. "Something happened? "Tell me what it is, I can help you."

"I'm okay!" Her tone was too firm to be suspicious.

"Well, since you're all right, let me ask you one question-" Gavin asked casually, "How can I make a doctor be interested in me?"

For no reason, she felt her heart beating so fast that it would soon explode.

But the occupational habits made her calm down the next second. She quickly examined his look and tone. He asked so casually, as if a British were talking about the day's weather. He didn't have any anxiety and expectation for her reply.

At last, she realized the key question-she couldn't be called a Doctor Bakert.

Therefore his question wasn't for her. He probably might have some interest in any woman in a white coat!

What the heck!

She squeezed a light smile. "Well, each doctor in the different departments have different research directions and interests. Which kind of doctor is she?"

He couldn't tell her that the woman was working in cardiac surgery in case she would be freaked out and jumped off the car. He picked up an area that sounded fancy. "Brain surgeon."

"Oh, it's simple." She said, "Go to the register and ask for her. Go in and tell her 'Doctor, my brain is sick!' I can promise that she will have an extraordinary interest in you and show the utmost care for you!"

His mouth twisted when he heard that. "Are you messing with me?"

"Why do you think so?" She looked hurt and said, "Do I look like the person who would beat around the bush to mess with you?"

He held his chin and knew that he wouldn't be able to win this argument. He simply decided to pose a difficult question. "If a person who likes a brain surgeon has to pretend to be sick in the brain, what if he likes an orthopedic surgeon? Will he have to break his legs? According to your logic, what if he likes a medical examiner?"

She showed him a mysterious smile and slowly pronounced every word clearly, "Play dead!"

"Smart." He nodded his head surely. "But... I don't think your cousin's husband would like to hear that."

"Set me up?" She scorned. "Don't forget that my cousin loves her husband. He only needed a confession to win her heart." As she spoke, she looked at him coldly. "I think you asked me these questions just because you have no interest in brain surgeons. Am I right?"

He looked at her deeply and suddenly burst into laughter. "Well, I have to admit that you guessed right this time."

She didn't feel happy to have guessed correctly.

In which hospital was the doctor he liked? The private hospital or her hospital?

But then again, why did she choose to be a cardiac surgeon not a brain surgeon in the first place?

With extreme depression, they arrived at the hotel where the auction conference would be held. She casually asked, "What is the starting price?"

"Ten billion." He spun the car keychain in hand and said, "If it's well used, the land will be a huge treasure bowl. Its value will be way higher than ten billion later on."

"..." Even people like Wendy who had seen the world couldn't help swallowing when she heard the number.

They entered the auction house. Gavin casually seated in the back row.

Wendy looked surprised. "I thought you would find a seat at the front row to show off since you always aim for the spotlight."

He fixed the neckline of his suit and his hair. "I'll definitely show off today. People in the front rows will have to look back at me each time I bid. How about that? "It wouldn't work like that if I seat in the front row."

Wendy,"..." She didn't expect he would love himself that much.

After they seated, the auctioneer walked to the auction stand and addressed the people attending, asking for silence and announcing that the auction would start soon.

Right at that moment, there was a commotion at the door of the auction house. Wendy looked back and was startled. She pulled his sleeve. "Look back!"

The reason why he seated in the back was because he wanted people to look back at him. But he still had to look back even from where he was?

He looked back reluctantly and froze all of sudden.

It was Yuna!

But she looked completely different!

She didn't wear the leisure wear and sneakers any longer. She was in a luxurious and elegant knee-length dress. Her exposed legs were so slender and well-shaped; a fairy with a beautiful white jade skin, glowing with fascinating light.

She was wearing a light but suitable makeup. She looked elegant and domineering. Two different attitudes were overlaid at the same time but no one seemed to mind.

If the facial features were not exactly the same, Gavin would almost think that she was another person.
