Chapter 510 Use All My Strength to Love You

Chris looked back, and sure enough, it was Steven and Patricia.

Steven had a serious illness in the other year. Although he retired from the Scott Group after leaving the hospital, he didn't seem to be recovering very well. His face still looked very bad right now.

However, this bad state of his didn't affect the ferocity that he accumulated in the business world for many years. While he stood there, his look was still sharp, and his whole being alone exuded an inviolable spirit.

Chris didn't say anything. Freya naturally wouldn't greet them without his permission.

In the end, Patricia broke the awkward silence. "You don't even know how to greet your elders. How can you serve today's guests with this kind of politeness?" She didn't name anyone, but still scolded Chris and Freya with her words.

Although Freya had never dealt with such a middle-aged woman who liked to make trouble, she wasn't afraid. She smiled and retorted, "Who are you, big sister? The hotel isn't open for the public today, are you on the list of the wedding guests? If you come in without an invitation, you're more than being ill-bred."

Since Patricia showed up with the identity of an elder, she planned to play rough with Freya, her new daughter-in-law. However, Freya didn't show any respect to her at all.

In fact, Freya even asked the right question. She and Steven weren't invited to the wedding, but-

"Does a father still need an invitation card to attend his son's wedding?" Patricia turned her face away with disdain as she sneered sarcastically. "I've never heard of it."

Freya didn't beat around the bush. She said without hesitation, "That's because you're ignorant."

Patricia came from a remote town. And after marrying Steven, she became the object of everyone's envy in her homeplace. In the eyes of old neighbors, Patricia, who once went abroad, was an experienced spokesman.

So now, the last thing that Patricia could stand was the contempt of others, especially when it came from the younger generation.

She turned around and glared at Freya. "You..."

"What about me? Let's talk about you." Freya didn't bother to hide her disdain at all, she lightly looked at Patricia. "Big sister, next time when you treat yourself as an elder, pay attention to whether others regard you as an elder or not. Or else, you'll be nothing but a joke."

The implication behind her words was that Patricia was nothing in her eyes.

Patricia was so angry that her cheeks puffed out. "I've long heard that the daughter of the Norris Family is different from ordinary rich young ladies. She would even dare to do anything. Well, to see is to believe! It's true that Miss Freya is really different, since you're cultivated by both Mr. Norris and Mrs. Norris!"

"You think I'm different from ordinary people? You mean I'm not ordinary?" Freya smiled as she walked to Patricia. "Big sister, you're really good at seeing things. However, if you mention my parents again, I'll make sure you're thrown out into the trash can outside!"

Patricia's face changed. "What do you mean?"

"Don't misunderstand, I'm not aiming at you." Freya emphasized each word that came out of her mouth. "What I mean is that women like you who only knows how to destroy other people's family are all trash."

"Chris!" Steven, who was on the side, growled unhappily. "Did you marry such a woman?"

Chris protected Freya beside him. "Judging from your current wife's manners, you're not qualified to question my taste of choosing a wife."

"..." Freya resisted the urge to burst into laughter, she couldn't help but silently applaud for Chris.

His words not only countered Steven, but also attacked his vision and the quality of his wife.

Chris and Joanne... they really were brother and sister, weren't they? When they scolded people, they never used dirty words, but they could still make people mad.

Steven gave a long and hard look at Chris, he stared at him for a moment. He suddenly calmed down. "If I didn't come, were you not going to tell me about your marriage?"

Chris didn't deny his words. "I never planned to inform you of anything."

"..."

"..."

Steven sighed, his tone became a little sad. "Chris, do you still hate me so much?"

"In the past, I really did hate you. However, in the past two years, you didn't seem to be very well. You even lost your most beloved daughter. The company that you managed for so many years was also slowly getting out of your control. The woman who is accompanying you is someone who will divorce you and divide your family property before you go bankrupt..." Chris smiled. "Mr. Scott, I have no interest in hating such a poor person."

"..."

Steven's eyes gradually darkened, he didn't say anything anymore. On the contrary, Patricia became emotional.

Patricia looked at Steven incredulously and asked a-mile-a-minute, "What did your son mean? What did he mean that the company is out of your control? Isn't the company getting better? What happened? Can you handle it or not?!"

"Shut up!" Steven's patience was on the verge of breaking, and he suddenly roared, "You won't understand even if I told you the story!"

"..." Patricia was shocked. After a while, she came back to her senses and patted her chest. "Well then, answer my question. Will you go bankrupt?"

That's right. Patricia didn't care about what happened to the company, even whether Steven was in trouble or not. She didn't care about whether Steven could cope with the company's situation due to his current physical condition.

She only cared about whether the Scott Group would go bankrupt or not, whether or not she could continue to be a rich wife.

Freya looked at Patricia. She sadly found that although this woman had beautiful makeup on, but beneath her looks, it was as ugly as it could get.

However, no matter how hard Steven tried to hide his feelings, the helplessness in his eyes still revealed his weakness and regret.

Perhaps, after so many years, Steven finally realized that his cheating on his wife was a wrong decision. Even if Scott Group wouldn't be destroyed by Rowdy, Steven was still doomed to live a sad life in his old age.

Freya suddenly understood why Chris didn't hate Steven anymore.

Indeed, there was no need to hate a poor person who brought disaster upon himself.

"Since you're here, please go in. The banquet is about to begin." Freya changed into a polite tone as she greeted Steven. Anyway, Steven was still Chris's father. He was her elder.

Steven threw a look at the hotel, but didn't step forward. He took out an old but very clean jewelry box and said, "I came here today to hand this to you." Then, he handed the jewelry box to Chris. "This is what your grandmother gave to me when I married your mother. I heard that it was handed down from your mother's family. After your mother left, I kept it for you. Today, it's time to give it to you."

Patricia's face greatly changed, she then pretended to grab the jewelry box. "Steven, that woman has already been dead for so many years, and you're still keeping the things when you were married to her!?"

Steven dodged her hand and protected the jewelry box. He didn't let Patricia grab it. However, he truly didn't expect that this would enact this kind of reaction from Patricia. Seeing that Patricia was about to make a scene, he roared, "Shut up!"

Chris took the box, his gloomy eyes were filled with ferocity. "Patricia, when you talk, you'd better pay attention to your words. Otherwise, please get out of here."

Patricia looked at Steven, who was furious, and then looked at Chris who was about to get angry. Her eyes suddenly turned red. She turned around and hit Steven hard. "You have been staying in that dusty room often recently. Did you think of that woman who died early? After so many years, that woman..."

Chris narrowed his eyes. When he was about to ask someone to throw Patricia out, he suddenly saw Steven raise his hand and slap Patricia in the face.

"Pa!"

The sound of the slap was crisp and loud. It wasn't hard to imagine how heavy the slap was.

Patricia covered her burning and painful face; she couldn't believe that Steven really slapped her. She kept staring at Steven, despite her eyes turning redder, she couldn't cry.

Steven didn't even spare a glance at Patricia. He waved his hand and said to Chris, "I just want to give you the box. You guys go in."

Chris didn't say anything anymore and took Freya into the hotel.

After walking for quite some distance, Freya looked back and found that Steven and Patricia were still entangled with each other. She pulled Chris's hand and asked, "Is it really okay?"

Others might not know what Freya meant with her question at the moment, but Chris understood what Freya implied.

"It doesn't matter anymore, for a long time now," Chris said, "I used to hate him to the extreme, but I didn't know when I have forgotten to hate him."

Freya asked curiously, "Why?"

She insisted on chasing after Chris for more than ten years, this was why she knew very well that whether he loved or hated someone, it was impossible to stop. Unless something particularly important happened that directly changed his life view.

Chris stopped and stared directly into Freya's eyes. "It's because I have you now."

Freya pointed to herself in confusion. "What does it have to do with me? I didn't do anything!"

Chris said, "After you truly fall in love with someone, you won't have extra feelings and the strength to hate another person anymore."

Because all his emotions were now concentrated on Freya. Steven wasn't even worthy of his hatred. This was the reason why. The mind was so simple and unpolished.

Freya smiled as she held Chris's hand. "I'll give you full marks for this reason!"

The haze brought by Steven was swept away, and the two of them walked into the hotel hand in hand.

This hotel belonged to Lambert Group. In the downtown of the city where an inch of land valued an inch of gold, it had a garden of nearly a thousand square meters. The white European building, like a well-dressed noble standing in the center of the city, had become one of the most beautiful landmark buildings nearby.

Ever since the hotel was open, it had been regarded as the most popular five-star hotel among all countries. Whether it was the experience of staying in the hotel, or the hotel service. All the other hotels found it hard to follow.

Today, the hotel accepted their reservation. They only served the guests who were attending Chris's wedding.

Chris looked at the decorations in the hotel. On the basis of luxury and elegance, it was being decorated with fresh air-luminescent flowers, it was full of fresh joy. The wedding photos of him and Freya alongside the blessings which were written in different languages, were all hung in a place where the guests had to pass by. The whole hotel was both luxurious and vigorous...
