Chapter 516 Why Not Cherish the Gentleman Before You

The groomsmen and bridesmaids thought that there had to be a subtle emotion which was more intimate than friendship but less than love between Gavin and Wendy.

They could easily tell that both of them felt that their feelings were unrequited by the other.

That was why they were all sure that the one Wendy had once kissed wasn't Gavin.

Otherwise, they would already be in a relationship if he were the one she kissed.

It was inferred that Gavin interrupted Wendy because he wasn't the one.

As for the reason...

Gavin was probably afraid that he would be jealous of a stranger!

All the others at the table, including Freya, thought that was a fact.

So they all considered themselves close to the truth with their eyes fixed on Gavin.

Gavin simply smiled without words, looking relaxed and calm.

He would rather let the others be misled than figure out he had kissed her.

Because he was afraid that it would be embarrassing for Wendy and him once his feelings for her were known to all.

Joanne, who had been standing there watching and listening, turned her head and whispered to Brian, "Gavin would never be jealous of himself!"

Brian didn't get Joanne's point. "Huh?"

Joanne held Brian's arm to lead him aside and said, "According to my observation, Gavin must be the one who kissed Wendy. Freya and the others think that Gavin will be jealous if Wendy tells us whom she kissed. But that's not the case. There's no need for Gavin to be jealous of himself, is there?"

Brian became even more confused. "How do you know that he kissed her... huh?"

Joanne pointed at her eyes. "By observing, as I used to do in my job!"

Brian thought for a while and finally got her point.

Joanne had helped her superior clear up many unsolved cases downtown, so she could easily see through Gavin and Wendy.

Brian continued to ask with confusion-

"Are they in love?"

Joanne shook her head. "I don't think so. But they will soon be in love if we give it a push, with any luck."

Brian recalled when he secretly helped Joanne with her difficulties a few years back; Gavin had often teased him about being a shrewd businessman when dealing with dozen-billion projects but a coward when faced with Joanne.

He realized that Gavin was just like him, not brave enough to express his feelings for his beloved.

"How could we help them?" asked Brian with a sly smile.

Joanne gazed at Brian for a while. "You're not going to help Gavin, are you?"

Brian raised his eyebrow. "I just want to teach him a lesson."

"..." Joanne thought for a while and said, "Actually, Gavin will begin a relationship with Wendy if they express their feelings for each other, so we can try to encourage them to do that. It won't do them any good if they go on like this."

Brian could tell that Joanne was worried about it, so he decided to stop joking and said, "I'll talk to Gavin about it."

Joanne nodded. However, she was still preoccupied.

She was filled with a sense of foreboding...

"Stop thinking about it." Brian took Joanne's hand. "Let's go home."

The wedding feast was scheduled to last all day for the guests to enjoy their meals and have fun. Joanne thought it would be inconvenient for her to stay any longer since she was pregnant, so she told Freya that she had to go.

Freya was reluctant to say goodbye to Joanne.

She had once dreamed of not only her wedding with Chris but also Joanne staying with her throughout the wedding to witness her happy ending that she had finally found after more than ten years.

However, she knew that she shouldn't be so selfish, making Joanne stay since she needed enough rest before she gave birth to her twins.

Fortunately, they were already a family, and there would be enough time for them to stay together.

Therefore, there would be enough time for Joanne to witness Freya's happiness.

Freya glanced at Brian and said to Joanne, "Well, I believe he can take care of you. Just go home and have a good rest or my little nephews will be tired!"

Joanne smiled. "Let's get together after you come back from your honeymoon."

"No problem!"

Freya returned to the table after watching Brian and Joanne leave.

A bridesmaid was talking with Wendy while shaking her cellphone. "Wendy, I really envy your cousin."

Wendy gave the bridesmaid a positive look. "Me too!"

Gavin looked at the number he had gotten and asked, "Why is that?"

"Because her husband is handsome, rich, and deeply in love with her!" said Wendy in admiration, "He's every girl's dream! The point is that he has never picked up any ladies, although he could if he ever wished to!"

"You're wrong." Gavin sneered. "There have been many rumors of a love affair between him and Rosalyn before she was sent to prison."

Rosalyn...

They had nearly forgotten her, a once popular goddess who suddenly ended up in prison.

Wendy was in Australia when the gossip about Brian and Rosalyn provoked much discussion among the public. She had browsed countless online reports and posts about it and finally figured out the whole story after going to Arlington.

Wendy had always disliked women like Rosalyn who had once held good cards in hand but ended up in jail because of impulsive behavior. Gavin shouldn't have mentioned her in front of Wendy.

"Gavin, damn you!" Wendy kicked Gavin under the table. "My cousin-in-law is your boss. You should do as we do and praise him!"

Gavin snorted. "You'll never find a second Brian in this world no matter how highly you think of him."

Wendy looked Gavin up and down. "By the way, you spend over 40 hours together with him every week, but you've never learned anything from him, have you?"

"Do you want to know why?"

Gavin said with a mysterious smile, thinking about how to praise himself to the fullest.

Wendy suddenly said, "Stop. I know it!"

"Go on," said Gavin with interest.

"Because he would never be duplicated!" Wendy said with a proud look while casting a disdainful gaze at him.

To her surprise, Gavin gave her a positive look and said, "That's right." Then he added, "However, you'll never find a man like your cousin-in-law unless you turn into a woman like your cousin."

He meant that few women deserved Brian.

Wendy got Gavin's point. She knew he was telling her that she wasn't good enough for a man like Brian.

"So what?" she asked with interest as Gavin just did.

"If I may say so-" Gavin gave her a nice smile. "Far better than any dream men is one of flesh and blood. Why not cherish the gentleman before you, huh?"

"..." Wendy thought that Gavin was kidding, although she hoped that he was serious. She told herself not to be timid and looked directly into his eyes.

After staring into Gavin's eyes for a while, Wendy slowly said, "But I don't see any gentlemen in front of me."

Gavin raised his eyebrow. "Then what do you see?"

Wendy blurted, "A rogue!"

Gavin thought for a while and said, "If you say so, I'd like to behave like a rogue."

With that, Gavin leaned over to Wendy unexpectedly.

It surprised Wendy. She gasped subconsciously and leaned back, almost falling off the chair, which made a lot of noise.

Gavin looked at Wendy's pale face, laughing out loud. Wendy thought that he was flirting with her as he grinned.

Wendy was so embarrassed that she wanted to cover her face with a plate.

She thought to herself, "I see. I'm no match for Gavin. I just need more practice before I can tease him."

"Let's stop this," someone at the table said, "The two of you could still have fun without us. Let's get out of here."

The others all echoed, "Yeah, let's go."

Only then did Wendy realize that she and Gavin were too close to each other. She coughed and said, "We were just... kidding."

"I see," Freya said with a smile, "I don't think multiplayer games suit you. But games for two players will do."

Wendy asked subconsciously, "Like what?"

"All the games that could start whenever there are two players in it," Freya blinked and said, "That is to say-you can do whatever two people could do."

Wendy felt her face blush as if it were burning after hearing what Freya said. All the others smiled and gazed at her as if they were trying to pry into her big secret.

Wendy glared at Gavin. "It's all your fault!"

Gavin said leisurely, "It takes two to argue."

Wendy,"..." She thought to herself, "damn!"

"Well, the game is over, and so is the wedding feast." Freya held Chris's arm and stood up. "We've have further amusements for you. Help yourselves, please!"

Wendy thought to herself dejectedly, "Whatever, I won't join them anymore."
