Chapter 518 You Care About Me, Don't You?

Wendy had thought that Young Master Zhong was an aggressive man. However, she saw the fear in his pupils at that moment.

He looked like a sheep in the pen suddenly noticing a ferocious wolf from the grassland.

Wendy wondered, "What is making Mr. Zhong cower?"

She looked over and saw the tall Gavin striding at a rapid pace toward them.

Gavin drew Wendy's attention in an instant.

It surprised Wendy that Gavin showed up, and the expression on his face at that moment surprised her even more.

In her eyes, Gavin had always stayed calm with a smile even when faced with his enemies, which had made it hard for those who didn't know him well to tell whether he was fearless or he was hiding his fear.

However, she could only see his wrath on his gloomy face, not even trying to feign a smile at that moment.

He looked like an angry lion that had been awakened from a deep sleep. It seemed that there was a coming storm that could destroy the entire world in his dark eyes.

Gavin had usually looked handsome and suave but never ferocious.

However, the way Gavin looked at the moment could only make others think of fierceness instead of the one he used to be.

Wendy felt scared since she had never seen him like that, while Young Master Zhong's legs had nearly gone limp because he knew Gavin better than her.

It was known to all that Gavin was like Brian's spokesman; his words had the same weight as Brian's in the company.

Many people preferred to talk business with Gavin because they thought him to be easygoing.

However, only after talking with him did they find that Gavin was a strong-minded man who could never be easily persuaded, although he was also an easygoing man who always kept smiling.

Beyond their expectations, Gavin was as formidable as Brian.

They would give up discussing cooperation with Brian whenever they noticed his displeasure.

Because they knew that they would end up losing once they angered Brian, even if they reached a deal.

By contrast, Gavin's smile was more like a cover that could not only perfectly hide his real feelings but also give others a false impression that he was very happy, which could make them suffer a lot without a warning.

It was the first time Young Master Zhong had seen Gavin's naked anger on his face, ever since he met him five years before.

Young Master Zhong's fear of Gavin sobered him up. He could only think to himself, "I found his Achilles' heel. He cares about Wendy! Don't be afraid!"

"Zhong Lue, let her go!" There came Gavin's angry voice, although he was still far away from them.

Young Master Zhong grabbed Wendy's hands as if holding a life-saving straw. "What if I don't?"

Wendy felt pain in her wrists. She frowned and stepped hard on Young Master Zhong's toe with her heel.

"Ow-" Young Master Zhong let out a cry and unconsciously released Wendy because of the pain in his toe. Wendy took a few steps back and finally got rid of him, then she cast a disdainful look at him.

"Come here!" said Gavin with a less murderous look.

Wendy replied "oh" and ran behind Gavin obediently, because she needed to rely on him, not to argue with him at that moment.

Gavin approached them with a more relaxed look and steps; however, they could still feel a sense of oppression.

Zhong Lue stepped backward unconsciously, but his legs were so weak that he could hardly stand. In the end, Gavin grabbed a hold of his collar.

Gavin slowly asked, "Zhong Lue, you must have a death wish, don't you?"

Zhong Lue stared at Gavin in horror, although he hated himself for fearing him.

He thought that he shouldn't have feared Gavin because he came from a well-known family.

"Gavin, how dare you say that to me? It is you who must have a death wish!" Zhong Lue managed to say that and looked into Gavin's eyes with all his courage.

Gavin sneered as if he had heard a ridiculous joke.

That was what Zhong Lue had long hated. He hated that Gavin had always looked confident, as if he would succeed as long as he wanted, although he had no one to depend on.

He particularly hated that Gavin's inborn confidence had fascinated some girls who kept saying that he was more than handsome.

He thought to himself, "Wendy must be obsessed with Gavin's feigned confidence!"

With that, Zhong Lue became angrier. He rolled up his sleeves and rushed toward Gavin. "I want to teach you a lesson just now! You asked for it!"

Zhong Lue's fierce offensive shocked Wendy. She pulled Gavin's sleeve and said, "Be careful." She didn't want Gavin to be hurt because the mindless Zhong Lue looked strong.

Gavin turned his head and looked at Wendy with a smile. "You care about me, don't you? You can't deny it this time."

Wendy looked up at the ceiling, not knowing what to say.

She wondered, "Why is he in the mood to ask if I care about him at this moment?"

"Well, I must admit I do care about him."

"Watch out!" screamed Wendy when she found that Zhong Lue was about to punch Gavin in the face.

Gavin had already noticed Zhong Lue's fist. Seeing Wendy's anxious face, he smiled and dodged with her in his arms. Then he pressed her shoulders and said, "Stay here."

Gavin grabbed Zhong Lue's wrist before the punch landed, just as he finished speaking. "Ah!" shouted Zhong Lue as his offensive slacked off.

"Zhong Lue, aren't you good at fighting?" said Gavin with a sneer.

As expected, Zhong Lue couldn't stand that kind of provocation.

"I need to teach people like you a lesson!" Zhong Lue rushed toward him. "Gavin, I wish you hadn't provoked me!"

Gavin gave him a cold smile. "What a coincidence. Listen, I'm not the person who can be offended!"

With that, the two red-blooded young men began to punch and kick each other.

Zhong Lue, who was full of brute strength, attacked Gavin like crazy, as if he were determined to kill his sworn enemy.

Gavin was punched in the belly as he was wondering, "I know that Zhong Lue has practiced Sanda. But why is this mindless brute so strong?"

"fuck!"

"It really hurts."

Gavin frowned subconsciously.

Wendy noticed that and yelled with anxiety, "Gavin!"

Only then did Gavin realize that the girl he loved was watching them. He thought to himself, "She will look down upon me if I lose to a strong but mindless guy, and she will think that I'm weak."

"I'm not going to lose!"

Zhong Lue thought that he had gained the upper hand. He smiled triumphantly and rushed toward Gavin with his fists again.

Gavin dodged Zhong Lue's foot after relaxing his wrists and punched him back with lightning speed.

Wendy could tell that Gavin didn't punch with all his strength from his relaxed face and movements.

However, Zhong Lue let out a husky groan after a punch that had almost distorted his face.

"Gavin!" Zhong Lue glared at Gavin in disbelief. "Do you know who I am?" It didn't surprise him that Gavin dared to fight with him because he knew that Brian had his back.

However, Zhong Lue had never expected that Gavin would hit him that hard since Gavin's behavior would not only infuriate the Lopez Family but also harm the cooperation between them and Lambert Group.

Lambert Group would suffer a loss if a business partner like the Lopez Family was lost, since Brian didn't have absolute power, although he was honored in the business circles.

With that, Zhong Lue shouted, "Gavin, believe it or not, Lambert Group will fire you right now as long as I ask them to!"

Gavin shrugged indifferently. "I'll teach you a lesson before that!"

With that, Gavin became more fearless and kept punching Zhong Lue in his vulnerable parts intentionally.

Zhong Lue managed to bear those punches in the beginning. However, he ended up in howls as he couldn't keep up with Gavin's agility and speed.

In the end, Wendy rushed over to pull Gavin away. "Stop. You could kill him."

Gavin cast a cold look at Zhong Lue. "He should be thankful that he didn't get to touch you."

Zhong Lue couldn't reconcile himself to failure, and those words made him even angrier. At that very moment, a hotel waiter passed by with a delicate fruit knife on the tray while he was on his way to serve the guests upstairs.

Zhong Lue suddenly grabbed the fruit knife and rushed toward Gavin; a murderous look flashed across his scarlet eyes.

Wendy subconsciously opened her arms and stood in front of Gavin. "Watch out!"

"Wendy, you silly girl!"

Gavin thought he could have stopped Zhong Lue, but he didn't expect that Wendy would suddenly rush forward to protect him, making things worse for him.

Gavin held Wendy and dodged without thinking before Zhong Lue could stab her with the knife. However, he failed to dodge the knife himself, and blood welled from the gash in his hand as a result.

Wendy panicked when she stared at Gavin's wound.

She had witnessed scenes a hundred times bloodier than that when she worked shifts in the emergency room and as an assistant in the operating room.

However, it was the first time she was clueless about what to do when faced with a wounded person.
